Knockaert Expected to Sign Later This Week
Tuesday, 24th Feb 2015 10:17

Town are expected to sign Leicester City winger Anthony Knockaert on loan later in the week.

TWTD understands that the 23-year-old is currently in France with the Leicester squad having been given a few days off as they have no match either in midweek or at the weekend.

A deal is believed to be close to being done but won’t be completed until the Frenchman returns, with an announcement likely on Thursday or Friday ahead of the derby at Norwich on Sunday.

Quizzed on his interest in Knockaert yesterday, Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that he had made approaches for players and that the former Guingamp man is someone he rates highly: “I’ve spoken to lots of clubs about lots of players, if someone throws that one out.

“He’s a quality player and if I could get somebody of that quality then why wouldn’t I? But I’ve spoken to loads of people. I don’t know how these stories get out, somebody tells [someone].”

Pressed further on Knockaert’s quality, he added: “And all the others I’ve spoken to have as well!”

The former France U20 and U21 international, who can also play in an advanced central midfield role, was a key member of the Foxes’ promotion side last season but has made only five starts and six sub appearances this year.

Knockaert started his senior career with French side Guingamp before joining Leicester in August 2012, signing a three-year deal which ends this summer.

Obviously current players, mentioned by some, as 'ideal' for first 11, not up to the task! Been here before....Taylor etc.
Thus McCarthy moves on, and no doubt has found another nugget for nowt, wages not forgotten, No messing, your given time to deliver, then 'so long, all the best', well done McCarthy....all on a shoe string, can't be bad, can it?
Some Will find the negatives, it's too late now, Christ we're right down the table now...bloody 4th. What a mess we're in, we've been found out, hoofball gets you nowhere!!!!!

From the hilights reel the boy ca do everthing, he can pass, take on player and make a tackle, really feel he would give us that creative spark, he's got that cheeky gaelic flair as well, lets not Knock him til we try him!

Re tonight Smith for Parr please, I love Tommy but he needs a rest, be Nice if Didz could get 45 mins under his belt pre scum.

Very exciting signing. Exactly the kind of creative player we need too. Imagine a Noel Hunt style debut with a 95th minute winner at Carrot Road!!!

According to the Leicester folk he's a very good player in the No. 10 role, which would suit us perfectly with McGoldrick injured/out of form. Wonder if MM sees it that way?

Of course Mick's reason for this is to create a bit of joie de vivre in the middle with Bru
