McCarthy Delighted to Add Palace Pair Monday, 30th Mar 2015 20:41
Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s delighted to have added Crystal Palace pair Jonny Williams and Zeki Fryers on loan for the final seven games of the Blues' promotion push.
“We’ve had a good finish to the month haven’t we, with the win at Watford and then the two lads coming in,” McCarthy told the club site.
“I’m thrilled to have the pair of them. We have no real recognised left-back with Bournemouth coming up on Friday.
“Jonny Parr is struggling with a hamstring problem and Tyrone Mings is suspended [for two games having reached 10 bookings] so getting Zeki in is important.
“He joined Palace [from Tottenham] on transfer deadline day in August when they couldn’t get Tyrone so there is a bit of irony there.”
Fryers, 22, will be with the Blues for the rest of the season, including the play-off semi-finals and final if Town are involved.
McCarthy warns that Williams, 21, who has restarted his previous spell, which has 53 days left to run meaning he’d miss out on a trip to Wembley if the Blues make the final, won’t go straight into the side after nearly five months without a game.
“To get Jonny in as well is fantastic. He is still getting back to full fitness and hasn’t played a first-team game since he got injured here against Watford,” he added.
“He is not going to come in and play seven games just like that and we will be guided by him but he’s got a part to play for us.
“He is loved by everyone at the club and he’s going to add some real quality to our squad. Having him back with us has given everyone a lift.”

Yes us true blues always knew you had something going on,so for all you whingers lets hear it for the Management team at ITFC who despite all your attempts to put them down do a fantastic job onward and upwards
One game at a time ,bourmouth next and 3 points are really tough ,please please if there is to be a goal in this game allow us to get it first. Going behind to bournmouth is a nightmare they just dont lose. They are the best side in the division ,but they are not chelsea man city liverpool man ute arsenal etc. COYB
@bluefeast I agree Friday will be tough, and I'd take a draw right now. But to your other point, didn't we TWICE fall behind to Bournemouth at their place... and still not lose? ;) COYB!
defo a tough one after break! It'll be interesting team that MM sends out with injuries etc but hoping that MM is up to his best with tactics to counter their goal threat
Any suggestion of a possible future deal? Depending on where we finish in the league/how we do if we get in the play offs:
Williams+fryers+1m = Mings?
Can't decide if I'd accept that. Maybe 2m? Depends how much Palace think Mings is worth, but we've got a strong hand given how well Cresswell has made the same transition this season.
Could it be that Zeki is here as part of a secret deal already being put into place for Mingsy's move to Palace in the close season? I wouldn't mind as long as Johnny Williams is part of the equation. COYB's. Town 2-1 Bournemouth.
Im sure if Wialliams proves his fitness long term and we go up Im sure a deal would be done for Williams If we get promoted, no way are we selling Mings!
Cant wait for Fiday!! I noticed McGoldrick diddnt get some game time in the U-21s, I hope he is fit for Friday
