McGoldrick and Ambrose Back in Training
Tuesday, 31st Mar 2015 15:30

Striker David McGoldrick and midfielder Darren Ambrose are back in training ahead of Good Friday’s crucial home game against current Championship leaders AFC Bournemouth.

McGoldrick, a one-time Cherries loanee, has been out of action since the Rotherham game at the beginning of February with a troublesome thigh problem, while Ambrose suffered a hamstring injury in mid-January.

“We have got a few bodies back now,” Blues boss Mick McCarthy told the club site.

“Didz was back out on the training field yesterday and so was Darren Ambrose, so that’s obviously good news, although we have to be careful with them.

“We have a few still out though. Jonny Parr is struggling with a hamstring injury and Kevin Bru pulled up in the Watford game with a sore calf. We will have to see how they are over the next few days.”

Left-back Tyrone Mings is definitely out of the Bournemouth match - which kicks-off at 5.15pm and is live on Sky - and the trip to Huddersfield on Easter Monday as he is suspended for two games having reached 10 bookings.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe says he doesn’t expect top scorer Callum Wilson, who was pulled out of the England U21 squad due to injury, to be fit for Friday’s visit to Portman Road.

Good news. Ambrose a useful addition to the squad, but can't see him starting.

You lot need to stop spouting crap. A few weeks ago mccarthy said he was lying about time scale and as for the people saying he has been poor, that is rubbish. Just because he aint hit the target as much as he did last season it dont mean he has been poor, he was a very good foil for murphy and is by far out most creative player.

@gmanrom, you need to read all posts, not everyone agrees with one another, is that the best you can say 'you lot need to stop spouting crap'. Pathetic .

I hope that both Williams and Bishop are in the starting line up.

I am sure I was not alone when during a break in play in the Southampton replay all the players went to the bench except DM it was a clear sign There is more spin in football than a Politian. He would have been relegated with Leicester anyway so his stay in the Prem would,nt have lasted long!!.

@ rentaghost us simpletons as you put it. So you just assume everything you are told is correct then perhaps you should purchase a Churchill nodding dog.

I'm in agreement with Bluefeast. McD hasn't looked right all season and while his injury maybe holding him back, I feel MM has gone for JW to fill that position behind front two. He's playe din fits and starts and his shooting ha sbeen poor compared to last season. Yes he should have gone to leicester, it would have been great fro him and the money could've ben used wisely by MM. Its sad but this is what happens . It would be very amusing if we went up anf Leicester came down!!

As Leicester are going down, it doesn't seem much of a career move for McG to move there from a team that could replace them. I expect they pay bigger money though....

It seems that if we can't moan about results we can try to make something up to moan about. Let it go ffs.

The player has been injured, simples. Why does there always have to be something to question the manager about?

walktheline ,reasons are , smug ,non complimentary about opposition , no sense of humour , i could go on ,however i respect him , you have to ,what he's put together at bournemouth is brilliant ,style of play and so on.

Disgusted at some of the veiled and not so veiled swipes and bitching and DM. He's head and shoulders our best player and can't wait to see him back in an Ipswich shirt and leading our charge.

Great to have top players back in training.... Great to suddenly have such a strong squad.

Friday will go down to tactics I believe..... Their 451 is indeed 4231 as someone above stated.... They get awarded so many more penalties than us (and most) because they attack the box with direct pace non stop...... Legs collide and decisions have to be made. Simples.

But we can win this..... We were totally efficient at their place and can be again on Friday....

I believe we will match their shape.... We call it 433 but it's the same.

Mick is working wonders.... But if everyone was fit, how exciting would this team be..... Purely thinking of the 4231 model that is serving Bournemouth so brilliantly....

Bart
Parr Chambers Berra Mings
Bru Skuse
Sears McGoldrick Williams
Murphy

Gerken
Smith
Fryer
Bishop
Connolly
Hyam
Wood OR Varney

AMAZING BENCH.... PLUS there is more quality in the squad who wouldn't even get onto the bench!!!!!

I'm not saying Mick would play that team... Nor particularly that he should always do so .... But we COULD play like Bournemouth and be the league's top scorers with our squad! We have the resources to scare a few defences and put teams to the sword

Please don't up or down vote me.... Please tell me what you think!!!!

Tell me why this would work ..... Or Ely it wouldn't!!!!

If the theory of his absence is due to not being able to join Leicester of all clubs, bottom of the pl with moron Pearson as the manager then I have no sympathy at all. We dragged him from the depths of Forrest reserves, realised the potential he has and gave him a long term deal. He wasn't complaining when he signed it!!!!!

One thing folk forget.... Dids was said to want to move closer to his hometown with Leicester... Just saying. I may be adding to these DM comments, but he is my top player at Ipswich and we would have 4 more points than we do if he was fit this last 8 weeks.

Super news. Nice one Phil for squashing the hear say. Two injuries one after the other, that's why the delay?

Arnie/Bluefeast, hear what you are saying but let's check his body language on Fri. You will be giving him a standing ovation like the rest of us if he comes off the bench on Fri.. Make no doubt about it.

Even when fully fit I wouldn't put McGoldrick back in ahead of Sears.

For the conspiracy theorists...

MM was VERY clear when it came to Taylor, and how he wasn't going to be playing again.
He has not ONCE mentioned that Didz may have to look elsewhere, or anything in the same vein.

if there were issues, with MM's form and record, don't you think we'd know by now??

It will be interesting how MM sets his team out to deal with Bournemouth`s ultra attacking policy..... I've gone back through the stats and it appears that they have a * shoot on sight * policy... but when you boil it down it appears that they dont seem to get that more shots on target than anyone else. ... 20 plus shots but perhaps 5 or 6 on target seems normal for them ...... BUT ....surprise, surprise apart from the odd game thats OUR stats as well ??? Look at it this way ..If we stop them scoring it will damn good as only 3 teams have done it this season .....0 will be a point ..... and i think thats VERY possible... we MUST score first .

Town stopped that other free scoring team Watford from scoring and nicked one late on;so we can do it.
Would like to see a bit more expansive football as we are at home in front of cameras again;but Mick has done pretty well up to now;so as usual will have to leave it to Manager and his players
.However need to give strong backing to team from large crowd, which Bournemouth dont have as their ground only holds just over 10000.It would be nice for once for the crowd to gee our boys up whilst at the same time intimidating the opposition, who dont forget 5 years ago were fighting to stay in the football league.
And we are due a decent performance on TV;so COYB

McGoldrick has been below average at best for too long. Seems to be his history, and that of many so called professional footballers

At the end of the day, players who really want to get involved get themselves fit, barring a catastrophic injury like a leg break or something. If we were top of he league by 6 points it would be amazing how the injuries would clear up!!!
