Ex-Cardiff Defender to Join Town
Saturday, 9th May 2015 17:06

TWTD understands that 20-year-old former Cardiff City central defender Josh Yorwerth will join the Blues in the summer.

Bridgend-born Yorwerth was at Portman Road for today’s Championship play-off semi-final against Norwich and to sign terms which will start in July when his Bluebirds contract comes to an end.

The Wales U16, U19 and U21 international was released by Cardiff earlier in the week having come through their youth system.

He was recently on trial at Portman Road and featured in the U21s games against Charlton, Bristol City - in which he scored - and Colchester towards the end of the season.

Yorwerth, who is yet to make a senior appearance, is likely to be viewed as a member of Mark Kennedy’s development squad next season.

Welcome and good luck. I don't know another last minute panic signing by MM!!!! Just shows what a good manager we have - not only are we still in with a shout of premier league football but he is also planning for the future. The style of our play might not suit everyone but I for one think we have come a long way in the last couple of years.

Good news. Clearly not a first team option yet though.

@No32 - Ben Wyatt. Just been released, his only first-team involvement having been sitting on the bench for 120 minutes at Crawley.

Odd that if he has all that youth international involvement for Wales, he should now be released by Cardiff. I can only suppose that they have their reasons and MM has his for signing him.
