Bishop Charged With Betting Offences By FA
Tuesday, 26th May 2015 17:18

Town midfielder Teddy Bishop has been charged with multiple breaches of the FA’s rules relating to betting.

A statement on the FA’s website reads: “Ipswich Town’s Edward Bishop has been charged for alleged multiple breaches of FA Rule E8 in relation to betting. The player has until 1st June 2015 to respond to the charge.”

Town media manager Steve Pearce told TWTD: “We are aware of the charge that Teddy faces but won’t be making any further comment until the result of the disciplinary procedure is known.”

Anyone involved in football in any capacity is banned from betting on matches anywhere under rules which were introduced at the start of the season.

The Town squad attended an FA talk at the training ground during pre-season in which the new rules were outlined to them.

Players previously found guilty of betting on football matches have received fines or in more serious cases suspensions.

Skybet Championship Player not allowed to bet on the Skybet Championship
Bet money for a chance to win 250K for your club
Ray Winstons face and general cockney-ness.

Think it is all a bit confused -
If IS offered sponsorship would it be considered? The Islamic State Championship - would certainly raise the profile

The rules are put in place to protect the player, the club and the FA. I doubt Teddy is silly enough to gamble millions, unlike Chopra, but if he'd of put an accumulator down and won loads.. It could turn into a habit.. Hope he learns from it :)

I think preferred the days when you couldn't walk into the little bookies' near Willis Faber without falling over Gates, Brazil and Beattie.

So who had the clever idea to advertise gambling so much on tv/papers, internet etc, to encourage youngsters to bet in the 1st place? It's an addiction waiting to happen. I get really pi**ed off watching sky sports during a football mach when they encourage you to bet on any aspect of the game, what bo**ocks. Rant over.

As for poor Teddy he's been encouraged and too easily fallen for it. Hopefully he will see the error in what he has done and learn from it before it takes over his life and gobbles up all his money.

Marshalls Mullet and Cloddyseedbed have really valid points. Stoke City's rise was largely funded by Peter , or rather Denise, Coates Bet 365 business. He is the 25th richest man in British football. Newly promoted Watford happily parade 138.com on their kit. Bwin have at one time been Real Madrid's shirt sponsor. Skybet as already mentioned. Ray Winstone's really annoying head telling us gangster like to bet in play at every damn ad break. Whilst I am not condoning any breach of rules and understand this is an issue of legality rather than ethics (small county south of Suffolk) - having seen a young lad at first hand struggle to control his gambling addiction, it is funny, yet unsurprising, how a blind eye is turned if money if fuelling the sport by whatever means. I should also include Newcastle's use of Wonga as an aside in a geographical area where there are no doubt large areas of financial deprivation.

Whatever the findings of the F.A. I hope the club punishes him. That,s not setting a very good example to the other young Academy players.

Football clubs and authorities will take money from anywhere - And at the top - just today we see the level of corruption present at FIFA .
SKYBET CHAMPIONSHIP , Sky ad revenues would plummet without betting sites
Teddy ( Edward) has made an indiscretion and hopefully will learn from it
But the hypocracy in big sport is pretty crazy

We do not know the full facts and must reserve judgement.

He is a young lad with loads of money and lots of spare time, young enough to learn and sort whatever it is out.

Were any other players involved, bad influence etc.----lets wait and see.

It's a bit of a silly rule. If I was playing for town and wanted a flutter on El Clasico, why the hell shouldn't I? I assume he wasn't betting on matches in the Championship though, that would just be stupid.

Multiple breaches will just mean he's placed a few bets. Jesus Christ everyone thinks he needs to go to Gamblers Anonymous for having some flutters. Reign it in guys.

Do people gamble because they need more money.or do they gamble because they have so much that loosing a bit doesn't matter
