Yeovil Confirm Sowunmi Signing
Wednesday, 24th Jun 2015 09:41

League Two Yeovil Town have confirmed the signing of released Blues U21s defender Omar Sowunmi on a one-year deal.

In April the 19-year-old was told he wouldn’t be kept on by the Blues with the one-year pro deal he signed last summer after completing his academy scholarship up at the end of June.

The central defender from Colchester spent time on loan at Braintree and Lowestoft during 2014/15 and had looked likely to join the Trawlerboys on a permanent basis, however, the Vanarama National League North side recently revealed that Sowunmi had won a contract with the Glovers after a trial at the end of the season.

Yeovil boss Paul Sturrock said: “Omar stood out for me in the trial match we held at Huish Park.

“He is only 19-years-old and very mature for his age. He will certainly benefit a lot by working alongside Terry Skiverton.

“I feel he will have a very successful career and I am excited about him signing for Yeovil Town.”

With all the changes at Yeovil it would appear, currently, that Omar has made a good move and will be in their starting line-up. We have now replaced him with the lad let go by Cardiff. Can we conclude that Cardiff academy is of a higher standard than ours or that Omar was not prepared to wait for 1st football.

Terribly boring reporting currently. Signings needed , right back , centre mid playmaker ,wide right ,wide left. Horrible article in the green un today re murphy ,but the main points are the paper understudying that transfer fees won't be paid ,frees and loans. Wonder what would of happened last season had we of strengthened during January when we were in 2nd spot. We will never know ,but our ambitions in terms of squad are mid table that over achieved. Excitement needed without doubt and that means round pegs for round holes ,not 3 or 4 square ones each game.

surely ITFC it would make sense to sign someone with a bit of talent to say thank you to the fans for last season and to get everyone positive and motivated about season tickets and supporting the side next year?

instead its frees loans and more hoofing and higher prices

blue movies ,so true , i can't bring myself to go to away games this coming season. Saw us 12 times last season away from home. 2 of those were wins. The reason for so many non wins away was the inability of most of our players to look after the football. We need composure in the side amongst other things.
