Yorwerth Extends Crawley Loan
Tuesday, 27th Oct 2015 15:14

Central defender Josh Yorwerth has extended his loan spell with League Two Crawley Town until December 29th. The 20-year-old’s initial 28-day stint with the Red Devils was up after Saturday's 2-1 win at Hartlepool.

The Wales U21 international has made five appearances since joining Crawley, who have climbed to 17th in League Two, adding to his three Capital One Cup games and one goal for the Blues earlier in the campaign.

Crawley boss Mark Yates is pleased to be keeping hold of Yorwerth, who joined the Blues in the summer after a trial having been released by Cardiff City.

"It's good news because I think Josh has played a big part in the upturn in results we have had in recent weeks," he told the Red Devils official site.

"He wants to improve his game and is getting that with matches for us. I'd also like to thank Mick McCarthy and everyone at Ipswich for agreeing to Josh staying with us for a further two months."

Yorwerth is one of three Town players currently out on loan with Matt Clarke at Portsmouth until January 3rd and Cameron Stewart’s spell at Doncaster ending a day earlier.

I notice Clarke hasn't played the last few!

Darren Ferguson has played Cameron Stewart for the whole ninety minutes of the last two Doncastor games, lets hope Stewart's troubles are finally behind him. We might just need him later in the season if Fraser's injury takes longer to heal and anything happens to Maitland-Niles or Oar.

Wishful thinking on Stewart, what exactly were Cameron Stewart's "troubles"

Problem being re Stewart Mick has told him he's never going to play one minute for us again so he will not be back in the blue for us again. Gamble that unfortunately hasn't worked out.

A lot of Cameron Stewarts troubles start with his attitude he's had enough clubs and warnings to sort himself out, while an obvious talent he always blows his opportunities he needs to sort out that great ego of his or he will be in non league football before to long what a waste.

Stewart will never make it if he does not improve his attitude. Disappointing that Clarke lost his place at Pompey as he started off so well with them. Thought Yorwerth may have returned but MM obviously believes he will not oust Chambers, Berra or Smith at the moment.

Saw Stewart at Sheffield Its and although he scored from a free kick, he did very little and was subbed. Looks a right lazy so n so.

Yorwerth was good v ManU. A few more bad games for Smith & Berra i would try him and Malarky as a centre back partnership.

It's not disappointing Clarke has 'lost his place' at Portsmouth. The lad is 19, has done brilliantly and likely needs a rest. This is the very reason why Clarke and Yorwerth are on loan. They can't be expected to play a full season with their age and experience.

Yorwerth was brought in as an investment for the future. He was never likely to be considered for this season in the championship. Played on the league cup for experience, with little pressure. Now out playing regularly . Good move for all.
