Chambo Aiming for Unbeaten Christmas
Tuesday, 29th Dec 2015 06:00

Skipper Luke Chambers says the Blues face Brighton at the Amex Stadium this evening aiming to be unbeaten during their three Christmas-New Year fixtures.

Town have won their last four games away from home, beating Rotherham, Charlton, the MK Dons and Fulham, and will be out to equal a club record of five successive victories on the road.

The Blues, who travel to Burnley on Saturday, got their holiday programme off to the ideal start with Chambers netting a last-gasp winner as they beat QPR 2-1 at Portman Road on Boxing Day.

“We go to Brighton looking to win again and looking to go unbeaten over the Christmas period,” Chambers said.

“Overall our away form over 18 months has not been great, yet recently we have been doing very well, although I couldn’t say why that is.

“We have been beating teams below us in the league, so it is our opportunity now to test ourselves against a team that has been setting the pace.

“We are looking up rather than down now and we want to stay in the top six and we know the next couple of games will be difficult but we need to beat teams above us.”

Town won five away games in a row for what is currently the only time in the club’s history between October and December 1976 when Sir Bobby Robson’s side beat Bristol City 2-1, West Ham 2-0, Manchester United 1-0, Middlesbrough 2—0 and Birmingham 4-2.

This is a tough away day by any standards. I'd be delighted with a draw tbh, a good solid away point.
I'd agree, from the outside it looks like the boss will need to put a couple of pairs of fresh legs in, perhaps Fraser and Bru, but regardless of which 11 goes out I'll be 100% behind them.

With Brighton having numerous players out injured, this is a great time to be playing them. After a home defeat against Derby, we need to be looking to win the game, although a draw - providing we don't throw away a good lead or concede in stoppage time - would be an okay result.

With our current form these are the games we need to step up to the plate to, big ask maybe. But if we want to be in the promise land, these are the steps you have to make and the results you have to get. I firmly believe we will get 3 points tonight. I think Fraser being back is a big plus for us. I think him being on the pitch he links up so well with Sears both intelligent players, bring on the seagulls. The tractorboys are coming to hunt you down COYB

With heavy Christmas and New Year fixture period, this would be the right time to bring in fresh legs ie Fraser Oar and Bru;but is McCarthy capable of such a move?
We shall find out in 3 hours;but on past experience, especially this season, the answer is no.

Think this would be a good move though,as Brighton seem to be suffering similar problems that befell us in the second half of last season.A depleted squad with tiredness creeping in.

Oh and a full back being played out of position;hope Town can take advantage of this as other teams have done to Luke Chambers!
