Boss Mick McCarthy believes the Blues aren’t getting the national media coverage they deserve given that they’ve spent most of the season in and around the play-off zone. Tuesday’s 2-1 home victory over Reading saw Town return to sixth.

“The national paper I had, and I’m not going to name it, didn’t have a word on our win against Reading, not a word,” McCarthy told Ipswich Player HD.

“We are in the play-off places but not word on us at all. Am I bitter and twisted about that? Too right I am! It does irk me.

“We played Brighton here and we were top and they were second and there wasn’t a camera in sight in our press conference before the game. That really irked me. I thought, is that the interest in the Championship then?"

Dissboyitfc added 18:22 - Feb 5 This is nothing new, slightly before my time but i remember my father telling me about the time we were going for the first division title back in 62. The media only became interested in us late on in the season when we were looking like we could win it and wanted to give us more coverage but were told not to bother by the club. Perhaps somebody else can remember the story? Anyway stuff the press i get everything i need relating to itfc from this excellent well run site. Well done to Phil and everyone at TWTD is what i say.

oldegold added 14:33 - Feb 6 Must be because of the drudgery McCarthy dishes up as entertainment at Ipswich nowadays the real reason why. Very touchy guy who won't brook criticism and it seems to irk him when people criticise his style of playing soccer. As I have been saying for ages, people pay good money and should expect entertainment in return not barbs because people dare to not tolerate fielding ridiculous cup teams, a playing style which is not pleasing on the eye and not particularly effective. Agree wholeheartedly with bluey123 and blueboy1981....MM should just concentrate on getting 3 points and getting up promoted..and just occasionally listen to the sentiments of the fans.
