Trialist Smith Starts for U21s Monday, 29th Feb 2016 12:49 Town have included trialist Kane Smith in the U21s side facing Bristol City at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm). Smith is a 19-year-old right-back, who plays for Evo-Stik Southern Premier League side Hitchin Town. Smith spent time on trial with West Brom and Crystal Palace earlier in the season, featuring for the Eagles’ U21s, while Brighton, Reading, West Brom and Bristol City have also been keeping tabs. Smith joined Hitchin from Biggleswade Town in December 2014, having previously been with Luton’s youth set-up. A midfielder earlier in his career, Smith broke into the Hitchin side this time last year and quickly made an impression. Also starting are Jay Tabb, Larsen Touré, Paul Digby, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Luke Varney.
