McCarthy Not Worried About His Job
Tuesday, 18th Oct 2016 06:00

Boss Mick McCarthy says he’s not worrying about his position as Town manager, despite the 17th-placed Blues having gone five games without a win or a goal.

Asked whether the current run has led to worries regarding his job, McCarthy said: “No, mine’s a fantastic job, I don’t worry about it at all.”

Has he received reassurance from owner Marcus Evans during the current spell? “Marcus, as I’ve said before, is always very, very supportive in what I have done and what I do and I know he believes that I make far more good decisions than bad ones, that’s why we’ve been 14th, ninth, sixth and seventh.

“And we’ve had a fair bit of success in the transfer market as well when you consider that.

“So, I don’t worry about my job. If people start wanting me out of the door there’s nothing I can do about it apart from work on the training ground with the players and try and change that.

“I prefer it when the fans are happy and they want to come to the ground and we don’t have frowns on our faces, we have smiles on our faces and they’re cheering us.

“The only way we’ll do that is by scoring. We’ve got a game on Tuesday night and let’s hope we can start that process.

“I don’t think I’ve suddenly become a bad manager. They might think ‘He’s not the bloke I want here any more’, but there’s not a damn thing I can do about that.”

Might owners at other Championship clubs have pulled the trigger after a similar run of form? “I don’t look around and think like that at all. It’s a different ball game [at some other clubs].

“Go back four years. If the club were in this position four years ago, whose phone did they ring?”

Does McCarthy believe he has changed as a manager during the intervening time?

“Apparently I have. I’ve got lousy now, I’m no good, I can’t do my job,” he ruefully reflected.

He's not worried about his job as we have an owner who's not bothered about the future of our football club and therefore won't do anything about the situation.

First time I've agreed with you for months McCarthy

I honestly cannot stand the arrogance of this man. Blatantly thinks that we owe him the world because he 'saved us from relegation'. Any manager worth his salt would've saved us from relegation given that he had about two thirds of the season to do it....

People need to remember, yes, he's got a couple of promotions under his belt. He also has relegations too.

Stop living off the performance of 4 years ago and look at what is happening now for gods sake man

A manager who doesn't know when to quit and the possibility I could be living under a Trump presidency. I've upset someone's god.

Lol, and that is why the fans are turning against him!

Mick managers come and go, some are remembered fondly others we try to forget. One thing though we will always be here, you are here for a few years. Empathy is a far better method of dealing with disgruntled fans rather than the arrogance you show!!

I agree I'm starting to dislike this individual more than Keane!!!

Wow he actually brought up 4 years ago!?That stinks of a man who is loosing it and knows it.Like most new managers they come in right the mistakes of the perverse guy and look good. Now in my humble opinion someone needs to come in and put right his on going mistakes.Fresh start please! Coyb

You're not a bad manager Mick. The club is in a much better state than it was 4 years ago thanks to you, but fans do want to be entertained. Stop being so cautious and take a gamble, especially with your midfield selection.

I urge people to stay away, an empty ground should help him consider his position!

The arrogance of the man, i go off him the more he speaks.

I just hope if we get relegated he is not charged with getting us promoted. Wish he would go now.

Think evens needs to decide, it's him or us, because even with the special offer tonight I'm expecting a low attendance.still think we will scrape a win to paper over the cracks tonight though.

17th in the table no goals for 5 games and the football is dire as always and that's the best you can come out with. Sums it up really.

Pathetic, arrogant and contemptuous. He should be worried if he cared about the Club but his loyalties are only to himself, his favourites and his tedious style of football. Are we looking forward to another 'scrap' tonight?

Pathetic - despite his 'success,' everywhere he has ever been supporters could not wait to see the back of him. Again and again he goes on about 4 years ago - he followed two poor managers and kicked us away from relegation. Any half decent manager could have done that. The tedium since is unacceptable. Go.

I fear a win will give him an extension, I still attend but would suffer one or two more losses if it meant the back of him. An awful situation for a once proud club

McCarthy OUT

Well done you saved us from relegation with someone elses team and are taking us back there with yours .If you had not been so negative over your 4 years we could have actually gone up as the league has been there for the taking
Good luck to those going tonight surely something has to change

Trouble is Evans extended his contract during the middle of last season, why couldn't he have waited till the end of that season and judged him then? To get rid of MM now will cost him big bucks and he wont want to do that (we all know how tight he is regarding itfc

So Mick if you have not become a bad manager are you saying you don't know why we are in the position we are in; or someone else is bad? Are these bad people our owner and your boss, or the very players who insist on sticking with game after game with the same performances.

Please elaborate on this point

The arrogance of the man is unbelievable, with him and Evans in chance there's no hope of change.

Things seem to be mirroring how his team played and what he said about that team when he got sacked by wolves. Slow decline, no change in tactics, open hostility to the views of fans. Trouble is, we haven't been getting thrashed every week (because of his tactics!) so there's no obvious excuse to get rid of him. I'd rather not get thrashed every week! But then we're not going anywhere.
Can anyone think of a way to get this man sacked? Anyone fancy tapping him up like big Sam for the Ipswich star?!

MM has got one of the cushiest jobs in football (and he knows it) hence the comments above, he knows he can continue to serve up crap football, play his favourites (regardless of form) make deliberately provocative statements about players, tactics, etc knowing it will wind up the fans even more

Moving Chambers back to RB said it all to me, the man has lost the plot! If I was a youngster at ITFC I'd be looking for another club......come on Mick have one last go at 'having a go'.

I don't see much danger of us leaving the championship either up or down, and that's the best thing for a manager as promoted managers get sacked sooner than managers that just stay in the league. I'm not for getting rid of Mick, but if the right candidate came along, I'd definitely be interested.

I think attendances is a good guideline as to how you've done McCarthy.

Mick out!

The man is so arrogant,he thinks he's the Teflon Don,untouchable. If people at work produced results like this there results would be either questioned or dismissed.
Week after week he sticks with the same formula and nothing changes for the better, things just get worse. The final straw for me was dropping Josh for a player who just cannot play in this position.
Talk is,he is sticking to the same two in midfield. As they say "a leopard never changes his spots" I rest my case.As a season tick holder I will be going, but to be honest I have very little interest now,Sad but true.

I'm simply jaw-dropping flabbergasingtly SPEECHLESS folks (and this has only happen to me once before in my long life!) after having read this the latest beyond arrogant, oozing of 'Delusion of Grandeur', ultra deluded dinosauric drivel from Master Mick.... So instead of letting out a Primal Scream so loud it could probably be heard all the way to downtown Norwich! or writing yet another critical 'novella' here I resorted to MIME a little song instead and it goes something like this:

For he Mick is a Jolly Good Fellow ["proper bloke"] .... For he Mick is a Jolly Good Fellow ["proper bloke"] .... For he Mick is a Jolly Good Fellow ["proper bloke"] .... For he Mick is a Jolly Good Fellow ["proper bloke"] .... come on EVERYBODY sing along now ... :-) lol

PS: Geeee I would almost give ANYTHING to be able to acquire some of that special special "proper blokeness", cause then not only would I no longer have to do my work to the absolute best of my abilities, by a loooong stretch!!!, but apparently I do not have to worry about ever getting replaced or sacked for now doings said work rather poorly time and time again either!!!!!!!!!!

"14th, ninth, sixth and seventh." & in the Championship! As if that's anything to be shouting about! To think we finished higher than that in the Premier League during our fairytale season under Burley. See how far we've slipped down the pecking order.
I've got zero confidence in Peanut MM being able to get this club back to where it should be! He's too stubborn and predictable! I think we could all just about name the team for tonight. Mick has as much creativity and imagination as a manager as he had as a player, i.e. none! MICK OUT!!!
