Chambers: We're Still Hurting After Forest Defeat
Wednesday, 23rd Nov 2016 12:27

Blues skipper Luke Chambers says he and the rest of the squad are still hurting after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to his former club Nottingham Forest.

"It's good to have another home game this weekend as we are itching to put right the Forest result," Chambers told the club site.

"We are still hurting from that result. Everyone was flat after the game and it's about picking yourself up and going again now.”

The 31-year-old says Saturday’s visitors QPR will be buoyed after new boss Ian Holloway’s first game in charge ended in a 2-1 home victory over Norwich City.

"We've got a tough game against QPR to focus on now, who will come here galvanised after winning at the weekend under their new manager,” he added.

"Ollie has immediately had an impact there but we don't want that to continue on Saturday at our place.

"We are in all this week to train and I'm sure the gaffer will have us working on a few things.

“We've conceded a few rubbish goals recently, from a defensive point of view, and that has to be addressed."

I do not agree at all with the slagging off of Chambo, not the best player in the world by a long shot, least of all a Right Full Back, BUT he has played most of the season to date, out of position, and does his best for the Club, I am sure - just like so many others ...... !!!

It is not his choice to play at FB - openly admitted by himself on more than one occasion, therefore he warrants consideration for such.

There are players in the team who simply are not good enough - but equally so, capable players who have had there best traits, and positions, coached out of them - this equals a situation such as we have.

Who (if they know the game at all) would play Sears up front without a target man to play off ? ....... MM, of course. We do not have a creative/ capable enough midfield for it to ever work - against whoever we play.

The best way to ruin a player is to consistently play a player out of position - McCarthy is the maestro at that.

In the right hands this squad (with a few subtle additions) is capable of MUCH more.

Im still hurting after the weekend too. I got some serious numb bum watching that dross and its was freezing too. Fairplay to Mick he picked an attacking team but really it was all just more of the usual headhockey and hoof balls.
Poor. Really poor.

I must have missed something re Chambers and the abuse he gets on this site..

Where are all the comments from re he doesn't care? When has he shown that or said that? When has he not put the effort in? He gets paid a lot of money - so does every footballer in this division. Are most of them worth it? Probably not..

He was pants on Saturday as they all were. I have said many times I wouldn't play him at RB & to be honest looking at that performance not CB either. I just don't get the abuse from him saying that are all upset & trying to do something about it in the next game.

Maybe next time a journo asks him the same question he should tell him to sod off & why should he care he is getting paid loads of money & off out in town where every player is always rumoured to be when things have gone wrong..

In the meantime the debate should be how the team gets better..Change the manager & with luck the owner in my view.. but leave me out if we are going to slag people off for lack of effort & not caring because I just don't think that is the case..

I marked you up blue boy because I agree with your concluding views. Not sure Chambers is good enough as it was his man that scored esp the first when he was wondering up the left on kick off!
But a good manager would make more of this squad than MM. He went for attacking format and failed so expect Skuglas to return with view to winning 1-0.
Failing to beat the two of the worst away teams in division is unacceptable. Clearly our defenders were overconfident and while their were some that tried to put it right MM must take responsibility
for his selections and tactics over the whole season, not just these games. A bit of humility might help!

Something needs to stop this fall into mediocrity. I am convinced that we have a talented squad of players ....BUT for some reason they seem to play with fear. How many times do we see any of our players run forward with the ball and take someone on ?....must be something wrong elsewhere...spirit...management...lack of confidence / belief ??

So you should, your a terrible full back, too slow and get caught out of position too many times. If I were the manager you would never be in my team.As the teacher say,"Must try harder." !!

It is easy for us to say get a new man in charge, but look at other teams when a change is made. The players have to prove once again they are good enough to play in that Blue shirt and a new leader will get the fans back n board. Sorry Mick but you have had your chance, I am fed up with watching the dross put in front of us.

'Itching to put right the Forest result' - well if they showed the same resolve as what they did on saturday forget about trying to itch, scratch or even have a fumble. Half the players clearly looked like they were on the international break still and the idea of getting a hand to a certain area of the anatomy to relieve oneself (no sexual innuendo intended) would be just to tiring for some of our players!

I have stopped posting on TWTD as I was aware that my comments were becoming more and more caustic. They actually were stopping me enjoying the game when Saturday comes. My feelings about the ineptitude and arrogance of the manager, the poor quality of his favourites and the shambolic way the club is run remain the same, but I won't stop attending. Eventually everything, good or bad will pass.
I have written a number of times to Mr Milne to express my concerns but do not get responses. I would urge other supporters to do likewise.
I do not believe any other self respecting football club would allow this nonsense to continue.

Basically same old overused Public Relation related damage-control drivel.
But my main message is this: WORST captain we've have had in eons .... No real positive leadership qualities whatsoever especially when the "going gets tough"!, also an UNFATHOMABLE piZzzz poor passer/hoofer, furthermore continues to be unacceptably susceptible to making the same defensive mistakes over and over again -- hence his nickname = Captain Calamity I guess lol -- even at his preferred CB (i.e. imho visibly "implicated" in both Forest goals last week), and above all simply not remotely skillful enough as a footballer to -- in merely physically terms -- "lead by example"!!!
