Chambers: We're Still Hurting After Forest Defeat
Wednesday, 23rd Nov 2016 12:27

Blues skipper Luke Chambers says he and the rest of the squad are still hurting after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to his former club Nottingham Forest.

"It's good to have another home game this weekend as we are itching to put right the Forest result," Chambers told the club site.

"We are still hurting from that result. Everyone was flat after the game and it's about picking yourself up and going again now.”

The 31-year-old says Saturday’s visitors QPR will be buoyed after new boss Ian Holloway’s first game in charge ended in a 2-1 home victory over Norwich City.

"We've got a tough game against QPR to focus on now, who will come here galvanised after winning at the weekend under their new manager,” he added.

"Ollie has immediately had an impact there but we don't want that to continue on Saturday at our place.

"We are in all this week to train and I'm sure the gaffer will have us working on a few things.

“We've conceded a few rubbish goals recently, from a defensive point of view, and that has to be addressed."

Another meaningless load of babble, the players are now taking us for idiots just like the manager!!!!

Well Chambo, if you read this board, I gave up my season ticket too and that did hurt me. I love PR but I pick my games now depending on results. I shall sit guiltily listening to Brenner Wooley instead of freezing my arse.

I think that after a certain time men need a change of boss and poor old Mick's time has come.

Performance is as much about state of mind as it is about state of fitness.

If you read pieces from MM, and this one from Chambers there's nothing about US winning. Winning is used when he talks about the opposition.

With us its about work, going again, hurting. Virtues, but no triumphs.

The mind set must change from the top down

Rightly so they should be hurting, they were shocking on Sky! Nottingham forrest kept their first clean sheet this season, there keeper got his first clean sheet in english football. Plus this was Forrests first away win, yes they should be hurting. But he hasnt apologised to the paying fans, or even mentioned how much we are hurting after that game!

The players we have are good enough for this league, just not playing the right football. Which is down to MM. Im bored of his football, as we all are. Need a new manager but who would we get in? Thats the sad realisation, we are stuck with this style of football!!

I will always support Ipswich, since a kid they are my team, through bad times and good! COYB

No names mentioned but some of the players were straight into town after the game, that's some hangover if they are still hurting today.

Texts from a couple of mates watching the game on Sky going out of their way telling me how sh*te we are. How low have we sunk, after 50 years as a town supporter I am now embarrassed to be one

"Everyone was flat after the game". After? You were flat during the game too. I was stunned watching the ineptitude of the team. Failed passes, passes to nobody, lost possession and hoofing the damn ball to no one. As I said in a previous post, listening to the games you envision them playing somewhat decently. Seeing it on TV was shocking. If that is the standard for the season, we're more likely to be relegated than promoted, because this is not Premiere League quality football. It's barely Championship level.

They all go in and train together? Must be a new approach! Looked like strangers on Saturday.

Trouble is there have been too many similar excuses this season. Additionally, when we win - probably Saturday - Chambers will be there with Mick sticking two fingers up saying they told us so. This is despite the mainly poor results and performances for a year now. Something the club refuse to acknowledge.

Unfortunately I think mick will bring back Douglas to shore things up and stifle and attacking intent we might have !!! Sad times !!!

Well let's hope Webster is fit and you don't get anywhere near the squad let alone the team !!! You were absolute dog s£1t on Saturday. You are the worst full back in the league and Knudsen is very close behind you. What a total and utter joke he was again on Saturday. You got to play in you're favourite position and you were abysmal there aswell. You have been the root cause of so many goals against over the last 2 years it's become boring. Any team playing us knows all they have to do is attack us down the channels for guaranteed success. Anyone who says our defence has done well is deluded. We have played 6 at the back regularly and have had probably the best keeper in the division. Our defending is keystone cops at best and our forward thinking players have been completely messed up by a manager who STILL picks his favourites and plays people out of position. I love ITFC so much I have given up my season ticket to show my disgust at what we have become under this dinosaur. Until we get change we will be in a relegation battle as the fans and clearly now the players have lost all faith. Go away McCarthy and take Chambers Knudsen Skuse Douglas Varney Bru With you. We need to play with skill pace passion drive and quality to improve and it won't happen with the dross we have. So sad to say but we need to lose to QPR to bring about change before protests at Portman Road force our criminal tax dodging owner to act.

Blue Moses, interesting but expected, although I suppose they are entitled to enjoy their free time like the rest of us(and Wayne Rooney).

However they were not playing for the shirt on Saturday that's for sure.

Unfortunately players like Chambers,Knudsen and Skues know they will play normally regardless of performance, which is not an incentive. All had exceptionally poor games against Forest.

Chambers Varney and Berra were in the Salthouse Harbour on the quay, the end of last week at lunchtime;presumably having finished for the day,so having to train Wednesday morning as well this week, presumably as a punishment, wont be too much of a hardship!

Am a bit concerned about what we shall see this Saturday afternoon,as after the game McCarthy was on about the defending,as is his Captain;so I fear we could see a back to basics approach similar to what happened after the 5-1 drubbing by Reading last season.

It will however be a bit more difficult unless Best plays because there will be no target man to get on the end of the hoofs, just like there wasn't last Saturday to get on the end of the numerous crosses.

I have my doubts if the Dino is capable of coaching pass and move football, through the centre of the pitch, which is alien to him;so I fully expect to see at least one change on Saturday, the return of Douglas;and back to the style Mick is comfortable with, even if a lot of us fans are not.

Hope I am wrong.

When I think back at all the great captains our club had over the years (both on and off the pitch) and now we have this yob wearing the armband. It would be slightly more palatable if he was a half decent player, but he is awful. You know where you can stick your fist pump don't you Chambers.

A good defender will mark & stay with his attacker. Sadly Chambers to often goes awol. He thinks he forgets he is a defender

Us too Chambo.

For me it's the lack of fight that this season that is most dissapointing. It's been a hallmark of all Micks teams and particularly his time at Town that the players fight for everything we don't always play well but there was always heart and that's what's gone out of the team this year

Nothing will change until the crowd attendance figures drop well below the 15000 (including season ticket holders, present or not, of course).

Just wait for the appropriate pre season spin again - to entice people to renew - change will NOT happen unless enforced by such above action.

Because the Owner and Manager couldn't give a 'flying f....' about the reputation of our Club, or success.

Key is the 15000 figure - and all will remain as is. Like it, or not. TRUTH.

Yawn!

I'd like to put a caveat on all answers given by footballers.....

"If all you have to say is a cliche, say nothing. You may, however, answer in a manner which gives us intelligent insight and an answer to the question in hand".....

Am I asking too much?

They are not the only ones hurting.

I'm hurting too. We had a round trip of 300 miles to watch that game.

Perhaps the players should all be on basic pay and get bonuses for wins and individuals for playing well. I have a feeling they would try harder then!

Just an idea. Give all serious criminals a season ticket, really naughty ones do the away games aswell

Agree with your post Ferguson, I will only add that the state of mind is no problem to Micks favourites as they know they play every week whatever the result/performance, my biggest problem is these characters fitness to wear the shirt of our club!!
