Williams Out for 12 Weeks Having Undergone Surgery
Wednesday, 21st Dec 2016 20:27

On-loan midfielder Jonny Williams is facing 12 weeks out having undergone shoulder surgery earlier today.

Manager Mick McCarthy revealed the news at this evening’s PLC AGM: “Jonny Williams has had an operation on his shoulder today, he’s got 12 weeks out.

“He slipped on to the track at Wigan, he got clattered onto the track at Wigan. He went for a scan and he went for an operation today.

“My thoughts are with Jonny, he’s only ever had accidents and injuries. He got kicked off the pitch against Watford and he got another one at Wigan. He’s very unfortunate, Jonny.”

Physio Matt Byard later told the club site: “Jonny had what is basically a dislocation of his shoulder at Wigan.

“There was significant cartilage damage and a small fracture and the shoulder joint was completely unstable.

“He had surgery earlier today to stabilise the joint and we are looking at around 12 weeks before he is back playing again, without any setbacks.”

He's not injury prone! Anyone who says so needs to understand that when other players cause the injuries how is that his fault. He's not a championship player I think that's clear Imo he's the kind of player that doesn't suit the championship and when he comes up against teams at this level they deal with him very physically that's why he gets injured not because he's injury prone... he's very unlucky and at least this means palace won't try and sell him in January now and we could have a stab at a permanent bid in the summer

Hope he recovers quickly.

Big shame he hasn't had more minutes in a team that doesnt score or create from open play much.

Good luck with your future career JW!

How ironic----finally gets a game and look what happens.

I remember Steve Stacey too----a 30 minute Ipswich career.

PSG 1, excellent FYC reference, it's fair to say about JW at the moment that he drives me crazy.

2, excellent Shirley Manson pic.

We need 2 playera in Jan an actual RB and a creating MF that's can stay fit.

Have we been linked with Akpom? Him or (not that I think we could get him) Tom Caroll would be good

Real shame, such a good footballer and he is injured again! Lets hope he comes back stronger, but we said that about his last injury! Chance for Dozzell to prove himself, atleast thats a positive!

It'll reduce Palace's asking price now.

Oh No - now we'll have to find someone else to sit on the bench next to Andre Dozzell and watch Jonathan Douglas put in his 'different class' performances every week !!!!

I'm so pleased I'm a fat old lump instead of a physically fit highly paid professional footballer. I'd never have made it past 10 year of age the amount of times I fell out of trees crashed me bike, slammed into picket fences on me sledge in the snow, ran away from a 9mm tracer round on the rebound, fell out of building wearing 60lbs of kit and found the 6 me size holes dug on training areas for me to face plant the bottom off. Nope I'm happy I'm still alive and have only every had a broken heart :(

Unfortunately got a bit of a sick note tag but was worth a punt . Think he would have left January anyway as not getting enough games . Be interesting to see if we sign any quality in January .
