Town Sign Huws on Loan from Cardiff
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2017 22:14

Town have confirmed the signing of Wales international Emyr Huws on loan from Cardiff City for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old played youth football with Swansea and then Manchester City, where he made one senior sub appearance.

While with City he spent time on loan at Northampton, Birmingham and Wigan before joining the Latics on a permanent basis in 2014.

A spell on loan at Huddersfield followed last season before he moved to the Bluebirds on a permanent basis last summer signing a three-year deal but has made only two starts and two sub appearances this season.

Huws has been capped 10 times by Wales at full level, scoring one goal, in addition to appearances at U17, U19 and U21 levels.

Who? Has marcus got the dartboard out again with his football stickers? Nothing against the lad, I'm sure we have got "great facilities", but this is taking the p.ss, what is the point?

Building for the future...my arse

Was good a few years ago but now? Guess he follows the other unfit loanees freebies & conference players. McCarthy & Evans are killing this club!
Good luck here Emyr

How will we ever move forward with the constant procession of loan signings? They are fine when needs must but our transfer policy seems to be built on them.

I'm fine with the club taking a punt on players like Rowe and Moore (who played well tonight) as cheap prospects but when you look at the money being spent in the Championship it's clear that running the club on a shoestring is not a viable policy going forward.

Another window, another lack of of prominent signings.

Welcome to the Club. We play shocking football and are entertained mainly by the opposition or Bialkowski pulling off unreal saves but I am sure you will enjoy your time here. Don't be surprised when the crowd cheers like we've scored a goal when we win a corner or free-kick, that's usual business here. On a serious note, fans may well cheer you if run forwards or complete a good pass. It's normal here to do that.

Best signing ws have made . Better than what we have . Shame some of our talent has gone backwards or always injured . Being a midfielder in a MM aint fun

Its now quantity over quality. Why didn't we sign a couple of decent players. I despair

Dreadful waste of the Murphy money ...no marque signing , no sign of the seven figure sum exciting replacement .........still waiting for a late call as my dog can chase a ball round the garden ....plays better than some of the dross we have ended up with....was the fat kid at school who got picked last....now we have a team of them

Mick Macarthy ....get out

Welcome on board Emyr. ITFC management are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic

All our signings this window have smacked of complete desperation, I have long supported McCarthy and still believe before this season he did OK (but only OK) with no support from the owner and not being permitted to spend money brought in. I believe I am now watching the complete destruction of the club I have supported for over 50 years. I think it's time for McCarthy to retire and most importantly the highly dubious Marcus Evans to clear off. There is a strong wiff of relegation in the air and a bad run now will put us in a dog fight at the end of the season. I wish I thought we were up for that but on tonights showing we obviously are not. Bring in George Burley until the end of the season to keep us up, then move him upstairs as director of football and bring in a motivated likewise thinking young boss for next season.

Saw him at Portman road when we played Birmingham a few years back. He really caught the eye. Very pleased to have him. Fact he is at Cardiff now and allowed out on loan suggests he may have lost his way but here's hoping he can excite like his earlier promise. As for fact 'he's another midfielder' he is certainly more like bishop than Douglas or skuse which can only be a good thing!!!
As for all the negative comments about our transfer dealings. No one is more p1ssed off than me to see another January window go past without those impressive signings we all crave... Marcus Stewart, jim magilton, martin reuser. But the club is in a very different place to where it was back then! Who on earth would want to come? Just because we would all give out right nut(in fact both nuts) to pull on a town shirt for a game doesn't naturally mean anyone would! We are nose diving towards bottom half of table, out of FA cup, out of league cup, fans are up in arms, nothing but negativity around the place, a manager who's brand of football (I believe) is governed LARGELY by suiting the bargain bin of players we can afford and on top of all that and by all accounts, if you are a player who is just looking at £££ we cannot even compete with any championship side and a large portion of the league 1 teams!!!
Let's be real guys this is where we are and I'm afraid that's where we look like staying for the foreseeable future. Sack Mick? Well yes, I have remained patient due to his lack of support but he is looking like the world is starting to fall on him. We would probably also have to pay him a 'package' But Who on earth would his replacement be????? I've said it on here before. ANYONE in managers chair next will struggle at least with mick he has experience and while I am not saying he's not the devil! At least he's one we know!
I've just picked up the book' 1981 the greatest season in towns history' Come on town. It seems like a very very long time ago and a world away now! Answers on a postcard? Mick out? Evans out? Put up with it because we aren't that club anymore? Let's see

Great. Now we can send another couple of our youngsters out on loan. Operation relegation in full swing.

I was there last night in the rain. The entire team looked totally disinterested and Derby marked Lawrence out of the game. Whatever is wrong at {R is getting worse. The crowd reaction was muted and mainly silent. $00 Derby fans made more noise.

Mick looked a defeated man. I hope Evans was there to see the mess he has created.

Welcome Emyr, in fairness the Welsh seem to have a knack of producing good #10s.

The club have a tight budget and were almost shut down a few years ago. We gambled in the past with big wages & fees, it diddn't work. The club have the plan to get home grown youngsters in to the team. When the senior players are injured or sold it makes it very difficult to have a stable team. FFF is being very UNFAIR to clubs like us.
It a tough one.

I think the approach is right by Marcus Evans but I think fresh ideas are needed. I love MM but I think a change is as good as a rest in this case. With the transfer window closed and the playing squad not really improved, a change of management is almost certain by the end of Feb if MM & his team cannot motivate the players and performance/ results continue to spiral downwards.
A young up and coming manager looking to prove himself would freshen things up no end.

For me I think Mick will be off come summer so not spending now to leave it in the kitty for a new man is no bad thing.

Why don't you big children wait and see what players we get before you throw your toys out of the pram. It is pathetic and boring.
Play nice you kids and have a happy Christmas

Thought I would post the hilarious post from tony88 pre Christmas.....tony88 you must be so pleased to be shown to be right.....oh hang on a minute....no you weren't and now you are hiding....now who is the child
Frustratingly its supporters like you that have blindly patted mick on the back for months...result...our club learching from one embarrassment to the next....you may be able to stand by and watch it but I can't

Brian - If MM moved on at end of February it would be because of more bad results and we would then be languishing dangerously close to the relegation zone at that point. If that situation came to pass I would not want "a young up and coming manager....." taking over. I would want an experienced pair of hands who had some feel for the old style and traditions of the club replacing MM to see us through to the end of the season. If we stay up that person could subsequently take on a director of football type role and the hunt for a younger upwardly mobile manager who would be required to buy into Ipswich's traditions and old style could commence in the summer. I wonder whether George Burley or Joe Royale would answer an SOS......?

Blue and True:
My personal take on it all it that it has already been agreed that MM will leave in the summer and these short loans are to ensure we don't go down. At the end of the season they will go back to their clubs or move on. MM will leave and then a new manager will start. I also believe ME knows who he is gong for and i think its been agreed. Don't ask me why, I don't have any inside information , its simply my own take on things

Is anyone surprised? Surely I was not the only one not taken in by the 'Several six figure bids in' rubbish. This is the faceless Evans PLC we are talking about and their puppet Teflon McCarthy. Forest moan about their owners but I see they bought Zac Clough and Ross McCormack on loan and I hate to think what will bappen Saturday with an already good Reading side havig signed Lewi Grabben and Reece Oxford. It surely must be time for concerted protest against this Evans shower starting with this site. I can see us being in the same boat as Coventry and Blackpool if something is not done soon

Just wiating for the MM lovers to say how we have spent money on 7 players ( loans or short term)..Well for those people consider this. We have sold 2 fringe squad members..Charlie Brown & Sam Ford for around £800,000.

So given we have spend a known £10,000 and a undisclosed sum..but very little..say 200K total..unless these players are all on 5k a week (which they are sure not to be) for the next 4 months we have spent sod all and certainly not the Murphy money.!! a joke
