Adeyemi: Nice to Finally Get Back Out There Wednesday, 30th Aug 2017 12:36 Summer signing Tom Adeyemi was delighted to finally make his first appearance in a Town shirt as he helped the U23s to a 3-2 victory over Sheffield United at Portman Road last night. The 25-year-old joined the Blues in June following his release by Cardiff City but missed the whole of pre-season and then the start of the campaign proper having been hit hard by the illness which has hampered several members of the squad before picking up a calf problem as he made his comeback. "It was nice to finally get back out there and be part of a game again," Adeyemi told iFollow Ipswich having played the first 61 minutes of last night’s game against the Blades. "It's been a long time coming and I was looking forward to it so I'm glad I got through it. "I only had a week of training in pre-season, then I had the illness which seemed to drag on forever and felt like it was never going to go away.
"Then I had the calf issue, but I feel really good now and I've worked really hard with the physios as well as in training, so I'm slowly getting my fitness back. "I am naturally quite fit but at the same time a lot of my game is based on my ability to get up and down the pitch, so if I'm unable to do that it holds me back. I have to make sure I'm fully fit but I feel good.” Adeyemi, who spent last season on loan at Rotherham, could be involved with the U23s again when they take on Sheffield Wednesday’s youngsters, who are coached by former Blues left-back Neil Thompson, at Hillsborough on Saturday (KO noon).
