Meet the Club at Supporters Club AGM
Wednesday, 25th Oct 2017 09:35

This season's Supporters Club AGM, which takes place on Thursday in Legends Bar, will once again take the form of an open evening where fans will have a chance to meet and question management representing many areas of Ipswich Town, among them MD Ian Milne.

In addition to Milne, the Meet the Club guests confirmed include academy manager Lee O'Neill, academy head of coaching and player development Bryan Klug, director of sales Rosie Richardson, finance director Mark Andrews, head of ticketing Donna Powell, supporter liaison officer Elizabeth Edwards and Neil Jones and Tim Claydon from Centerplate, the club's concourse catering provider, who will be providing complimentary pies.

The evening will give Supporters Club members an opportunity to ask them about their roles and raise any questions they may have.

The event starts at 7.30pm and will also include the formal business of the Supporters Club AGM.

Evidence of membership of the Supporters Club - season tickets, Silver, Ambassador or Junior Blues membership cards - must be provided at the door.

For more information on the Supporters Club AGM contact caretaker-chair Steve Doe via officialitsc@gmail.com and for information on the Meet the Club part of the evening contact Elizabeth Edwards via slo@itfc.co.uk or call 07968 876504.

Gilesy is rightly getting some positive response to his very reasoned post.

We all have to accept that what Evans does with his money is up to him, but you wonder what is the point of owing a football club if you don't plan to invest. Football is sadly just a money game. if you are not prepared to spend then get out of the game. One thing for sure is you cannot turn a personal profit at this level.

The word that comes to my mind when talking about ITFC is stagnation. We seem to be sitting and watching everything else just happen around us.

Given our entire team cost less than 2M there is a case for saying MM is not doing a bad job. In todays market and semi decent player will go for 5M +

What annoys me most is MM constantly praising the opposition and setting out to frustrate them instead of going out and doing what we want and making the opposition think about us. Is it the green eyed monster? or is it simply we are not good enough to formulate our own identity?

None of us want to become a reactionary club who hire and fire every week but is it the case that MM will go at the end of the season as Evans isn't prepared to make the pay off for change.

I sympathise with the view that relegation might be the only thing that kicks us into action but I fear that if we go down it may be a long time before we come back. Just remember the clubs that dropped from Premiership to League one in consecutive seasons. Look at Sunderland, a club just used to losing. Despite the great start I still see this as a possible outcome.

No idea if anyone at the club ever reads this site but in the vain hope they do I'd simply say it's time for Marcus Evans to front up. Tell us the truth, what is your agenda with this club?

Why not turn up to this AGM and tell everyone?

The top post by Gilesy is fantastic. It would be fantastic if anybody attending tonight could read it out to see what the club's official response is. Would be interested to hear Milnedew's response to that one! Even Shane Warne couldn't spin his way out of that one!

Muckarthy is not going tonight Shepton. I hear he is going to the Mick Appreciation Annual Gala, attended by mick and proper bloke Skusey. The rumor is Skusey is knocking him up a proper Lancashire hot pot for 2, there will be extra if Sw and rensham can make it.

CromwellBlue - totally agree with your 5th paragraph. The one thing that jars me off most is MM constant ' they are a good team, they have some really good players, I know the manager he's a good guy' etc etc I want someone to stand up and say 'we can beat the tihs out of this mob if we really want to, give em no quarter. I really think he just wants to be liked by all managers and sod how the paying public sees him. He has to go. Despite the friendly demeanour he must be the most stubborn, arrogant, egotistical and dogmatic person who never sees that a problem is actually something to do with him. that I have ever seen, heard or read about. He says he's done a great job and totally believes in his own rhetoric. Well step aside son and lets see.

I just had a vision of what Portman Road is going to look like in 18 to 24 months from now if Mick McCarthy is still in Town and it's a very lonely and empty sight!

Forecast match day attendance, 2.5.
The Marcus Evans Coup has turned into a revolution of false hope and promise!
He thought he could get us up on the cheap but he blew the chance by sacking Jim Magilton and replacing him with the Dark Sith Lord Keane. Now Marcus Heavens sees it can't be done without serious investment and so he chooses to bury his head in the sand in complete denial. Worse still while he hides in the shadows like something out of a Where's Wally book he's left us all to suffer under another one of his failed managerial appointments, Mickey "Mouse" McCarthy.
So this failed Coup has sadly turned Ipswich into a Banana Republic! Some failed revolutions go down in history and are later glorified. Think Spartacus or the Boxer Rebellion. This pitiful and failed opportunist revolution however will do no such thing and sadly needs consigning to the dustbin! This is one gamble of Marcus' that didn't come of. So what's the exit strategy Marcus? And while we're talking of exits can you in the meantime at least show Mick the exit as he's took the Mickey long enough now!

Very good points, Gilesy.

The club is losing that sense of being a key part of the community. It doesn't help having an owner who refuses to engage with the supporters. The Management could and should be making far more effort to get people through the turnstiles, particularly the youth. With depleted crowds there's plenty of room for one local secondary school's kids & staff getting free tickets per game or fire services or hospital staff & their families or OAPs or whoever. I know people will always point the finger at the manager but in reality the football this season is better than the last few years and a manager is just one component of the club. The problems, looking to the future, run much deeper than that.

It would be good that fans show their antipathy by not turning up thereby mirroring the clubs attitude to the fans.

That might speak a lot louder than any words spoken on the night.

Phil - any chance of printing some of these comments off and sending them to Milne/Evans. Gilesy post is clearly one which is supported by many. Having said that, the amount of folk who want MM out is now growing and substantial. Can you raise these comments with the club?

Top post Gilesy , my lad is only 8 and asked me the other day about coming to a game , my heart sang finally he wanted to come with me to watch my beloved Town. I then thought about what he may actually end up watching and it gave me pause to think. It may put him off town, live football, football in general and anything that goes sideways or backwards!!

And that is just not how it should be ... actually worried about taking an avid young football fan to watch his home team in case he finds it so boring and dull he never wants to come back.

I am a patient person but I honestly don't think that Mick/Marcus or Ian Milne care enough about the club to save it or change the crap were being served up now. You want passion Sir Terry Butcher turned up to the Derby days after tragically losing his son...because it meant something to him!!!

I wont subject my son to it, until there has been a drastic change in leadership/ownership or whatever it takes to get the blue cogs whirring again.

I find myself most frustrated by the awful treatment of the season ticket holders. I have had a particularly poor experience of ITFC ticketing policy and it frustrates the heck out of me because it's all so un commercial and designed to drive fans away.

We usually have about 15,000 empty seats each home game.

We have stopped giving a discount to seniors, people between 60 and 65 have been treated with contempt. Why did they not continue to offer the discount to those already receiving it? Why do they not offer a discount to people based on the length of time they have been season ticket holders? I wonder how many seniors decided to jack their season tickets in? Who can blame them when the club shows them such disregard.

Until recently I used to have an u16 ticket that either sat empty or was used to upgrade for my daughter, son or family friends when they were able to attend. I was told this was against the terms and conditions so I have had to give it up. So that's a lost U16 season ticket and all the other revenue when the ticket is upgraded. If every season ticket holder did the same as me the club would have an extra 12,000 guaranteed tickets sold plus all the extra income when people upgrade. Probably worth an extra £3m or so a year. Would that be so bad? Why is the club so uncommercial? Now I can't take anyone to football so will probably jack in my season ticket at the end of the season and then pick and choose my games during the season. Trouble is once I lose the season ticket the habit will be broken and I probably won't go again.

For goodness sake why don't the club cherish their season ticket holders and do more for them?

I can understand MEs strategy of bringing youths through and investing small sums in up and coming players from other clubs academy's. it's a long term strategy but may eventually pay off and we love to see the youngsters coming through.

However, I don't understand the customer engagement strategy and the awful treatment of season ticket holders. We are loyal customers but should not be abused but loved instead

What a sensible balanced and heartfelt post from Gilsey compared to the moronic prejudiced and unbalanced views so typical of MM haters who just cannot properly articulate anything beyond Mick out. The club needs a change of manager at the end of the season but for now I will continue to support my club irrespective of who the manager is because that's what club supporters do.

Gilesy sums up my sentiments exactly - we've even been fans about the same time (74-75 for me).

In what other walk of life does the owner of a business remain entirely invisible and refuse point blank to communicate directly to its customers? But that's probably the key issue - Evans doesn't see Ipswich fans as customers at all, and the withdrawal of their custom by not coming to games any more doesn't hurt him in the pocket. So he will just carry on showing no interest, remaining invisible and putting his patsy up to go through the motions so he can tick the box of engaging with fans. He has been a disaster for the club. I'm sure if David Sheepshanks had foreseen the way Evans was going to behave he would not have recommended the sale of the club to Evans.

I went to one of these, several years ago now, and found it a pointless exercise frankly.

Evans has the Supporters Club in his pocket and whatever the route for fans to try and force change is, its not through them!

Gilesy the best post I have read on here ever . That is exactly how I have been feeling for years we have become a nothing club with no identity or relevance with an outdated manager who has run out of ideas in today's football world .
The club needs a drastic overhaul and with no magic wand or massive financial backing it has to be the manager with new ideas to at least get some interest for the mass crowds currently staying away while MM is in charge

A football club will never be successful building a new team every year. Spirit among the squad will never be good when so many players contracts and futures are in the spotlight. The club and setups a mess. Nobody in power has a clue of a direction to take. The main problem is the owner, he has no football knowledge and relies on others to advise. Whilst MM is telling him how best to build a team, the type of players required and the tactics to employ the fan base will continue to drop as will interest in the club. Action needs to be taken by Evans now on management. If he is no longer interested which many of us now question, please get out of our club.

Cloddyseedbed added 21:52 - Oct 25
Been supporting the Town since the 60's, now really not interested in anyone who is running the club, they are only interested in their pay packet from Evans. They will say and do anything he asks and have absolutely no idea what they are doing or how to improve the club. It is all based on hype, hype, hype. Rich idiots!!!!!!

I would put myself in this group: people who will have a go on the forums etc but be reluctant to pitch up and get stuck in at the AGM. I am challenging myself, and anyone else, to get down there: get a Silver membership if you have too (or borrow your son's JB card!) WE NEED ANSWERS: WE WANT OUR CLUB BACK!
