Ex-England International Campbell Linked With Town Interview
Friday, 27th Apr 2018 00:10

Former England defender Sol Campbell is reportedly set to be interviewed by the Blues as owner Marcus Evans continues his search for a new manager.

According to the Daily Telegraph, ex-Arsenal and Tottenham man Campbell is said to have been put forward as a potential candidate by David Pleat - known to be a long-time associate of Evans and certainly someone whose advice the Town owner will be seeking as he looks for his new boss - who worked with him during his time as Spurs’ director of football.

It’s anticipated that discussions between the club and Campbell will take place in the next few weeks.

The 43-year-old former centre-half has previously said he is keen to become a manager and was recently interviewed for the Oxford United job but lost out to former Charlton boss Karl Robinson.

Despite his impressive playing career, given his lack of experience in management Campbell would be appear unlikely to be in serious contention.

Evans is understood to have made contact with a wide selection of potential new bosses, while the club is believed to have received a considerable number of applications.

Speaking in his interview earlier in the week, the Town owner said he would be conducting a thorough recruitment process and expects to name his new manager in late May or early June.

Former Blues striker Shefki Kuqi, who TWTD recently interviewed regarding his interest in the Town job, is the new bookies’ favourite.

The Finland international striker is now at 2-1 with Bet Victor with Wigan boss Paul Cook out to 5-1, Campbell and Tony Mowbray at 10-1 and Shrewsbury manager Paul Hurst, ex-Rangers, Brentford and Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton and Taiwan’s Gary White all at 16-1.

Early favourite Danny Cowley has now drifted out to 25-1 having signed his new deal at Lincoln City.

Thanks for the history lesson Mickzzzz. I actually studied American Politics at uni so not needed but thanks.

I'm not really sure of the relevance as I have in no way black balked you..... do you see me calling for a ban?

I merely find mirth in your ability to present the most negative side to even (what are already proven to be) false rumours......

Interesting that you recognised the Steroo reference though...... maybe you are in fact he? If it walks like a Steroo, talks like a Steroo and and has webbed feet like a Steroo.......

Or maybe you are in fact Stefan Kuntz?

What you certainly are is making mountains out of Molehils.

One would think now Mick has gone both a name change and upturn in your overtly negative outlook would be in order..... but I see not.

Rather like that chap on the fast show. It's all rubbish.

I like how you think the accumulation of up votes is somehow proof of your blur credentials. Thata was funny.

I have to say I dont think there was anything nasty or hurtful about my comment. Just an expression of an opinion and would suggest that you are a touch over sensitive if that was enougjt to illicit such a response... I see you are a give it out but can't take it kinda chap though

Fine for you to call people Muppets but one who dared to question you is nasty? Repulsive? Cmon now.

Perhaps there was supposed to be a humour in your posts but if there was it didn't come though. Shades of a momentum manifesto though.

There's been rather a lot of forelock tugging toward the owner since his appearance from the dark shadows of anonymity. The evidence suggests he hasn't loosened the purse strings and believes there is some new magical formula he or 'Arry and Pleaty have discovered that will make us competitive and entertaining. Do we believe that? Do we believe he has any notion of how to bring success? Do we believe 'Arry and Pleaty will give him anything more than conventional advice suggesting who's a good lad? Why are so many people now trusting Evans? By the way is there still an alleged arrest warrant out for him in Brazil?

@BlueandTruesince82
Sadly It's not only too time consuming -- and trust me I have MUCH better things to with my time & day than "shadowbox" with you! -- but overall more emphatically simply beneath me to in detail counter the *entire* excessive amount of all that premium & unsubstantiated (and oh also by & largely simply coming across as vastly being nothing but immaturishly jabbing-like) quote "rubbish" & mockery in your awesomely thought-out latest post...

But a few libellous like things I simply won't be left undefended in public, so hence I'll will suffice to pick, in some typical of @mzt: GREATER looongwinded detail ,on just 3 stand-out things:

1) For one who has spent considerable amounts of time and years, on & off, "over There" well it's truly nice to hear you have indeed studied 'American Politics' comrade (but apart from us 2 perhaps having a real GOOD future talk strictly about US politics some day somewhere else :-D, then I basically fail you see the bigger point of you opening with that piece of not only dismissive but very fly cv information, particularly since the short explanation of 'McCarthyism' I gave earlier was not really meant for you 82, but "our younger readers", exactly as I wrote then btw)... But anyway may I ehhhh humbly suggest that perhaps you should seriously consider beginning another deeper study of the meaning & *implications* of affixed emoticons/emoji in a written text!, specifically those that I most commonly use: :-D and :-) and the like ....and oh while you are at it please also catch up on the *possibility* of the strictly IRONIC (and thus to be non-seriously taken) use of putting certain types of possible ambiguous words, like the fluffy sounding muppets for instance, in brackets "" .....and oh in the same mold also you might even benefit from a brief revisit of the little rule of thumb governing the far from always negative-laden or mocking use of classic good mood-interpreting simple text abbreviations like LOL & LMAO. Thank you in advance :-D ).

And btw speaking of Muppets, with or without brackets, NEARLY everybody here -- with a true 'colorful lingo' that is -- on TWTD news and/or Forum seems to me at one time or another having referred to others i.e. "in the other camp" or of a mere different opinion, as luvable muppets (and/or words of a very similar effect) on this fabulous site, like say many of the Regime-Inners / Mick-Innners against the Regime-Outers / Mick-Outers encounters and vice versa etc etc. ??? Sooo ehhhh in my book & imho: Muppets = "No harm, no foul", Sorry! LMAO!

2) I'm EXCLUSIVELY negative in *all* my inputs especially even in my post-MM-announcing-he-will-be-leaving inputs am I???
Oh Dear Oh Dear. Tsk Tsk another case of so called "Selective Memory" you are personally suffering from TOO then?! apart from you being largely poorly argumentative and mostly just mocking & close to libellous dear @BlueandTruesince82???

Or perhaps you just sadly & simply neglected to read several of my OTHER post over the years, including not only the not super common but nevertheless occasional where-credit-is-truly-due congratulatory & praising ones but more importantly to this subject these of this early spring recurring post that I wrote earlier this month (I believe) about it being time for quote: "Reconciliation among our fans", "Time to be thinking & looking forward, not backwards!" ...and simply time to be more POSITIVE (citing even our own venerable C.S Lewis proverbial take on that same subject :-) ) about in my pov if nothing much else then just the sheer fan-friendliness of the football being played by ITFC henceforth in the post MM era, and last but not least: Simply again called for unison in: "Let's us all now make PR great again!".

HOWEVER when it comes to Mr. Marcus Evans and specifically his "agenda" with ITFC + the overall quality of his decision making on football related matters.... oh well YES! I do remain a well-founded SKEPTIC (not pessimist though!) to this day. In life in general (incl sports of course) I do actually like to view myself as a living-in-the-present *Realist*.... and thus not anything adhering to the opposite nature I.E like when talking ITFC fans then fairly many among them who are thus either of the super CREDULOUS susceptible (but also sometimes fickle-minded) in-The-Moment *Optimist* kind ...incl. those being it "just for the sake of it!"; Or even what is gently known as a 'Romantic Fool' including those often still wholeheartedly dwelling on the glorious glorious long-gone past"; Or even the many very Suffolk symptomatic Ultra COMPLACENT ones among our fanbase.

So ehhh if this ultra spicy mixture of me additionally striving to be predominantly objective rather than yawny blue-tinted subjective as well as of course being this aforementioned very jesty *Realist* is not to your personal liking... well tough luck! This is non-abusive opinion entitled public site last time I checked, so obviously I ain't gonna remotely apologies about something as hyper banal like that comrade!

3) As far as being an inferred cowardly "giver" (who can't take ANYTHING coming back his way). Well that's simply has no genuine foundation either! Neither in my posting history here on TWTD or anywhere else ... certainly nor in my real professional and personal life!
I've never been the one to *INSTIGATE* any utterly unmotivated heinous and/or libellous like personal attack of any kind on anyone ever! Period!
Aye even on a TWTD matter a beloved "foe" & favorite "chappie" like @Swn98) I do HOWEVER reserve my full right to "self-defense"... just like I have frequently opted to do, overwhelmingly successfully I might add :-), in & throughout real physical life!

And thus when it specifically comes to chat-boards, then occasionally "answering back" in some form or another even in a like this very one: a loooongwinded detailed & unmistakably none-friendly manner (cause fundamentally this has nothing personally to do with being "thin-skinned" (particularly my personal military service records definitely says otherwise btw! lol) at all but rather with me (and others in cyberspace acting back at their personal attackers in a manner like mine) having been so loooooong in the chatting-game that I have simply grown seriously dead-tired of these seemingly never ending waves of wannabe MACHO MACHO keyboard warriors who spout all types of personal & libellous like abuse from the cozy safety of their armchairs (and often get's away with it from the site-administrators if no one bother to report them!) but never would have the mere foolish guts to recount a mere fraction of said abuse & verbal personal attacks were they speaking to you face-to-face in person!
...But on several occasions incl. related to those on TWTD, well I have in FACT & with a good conscience taken several of these utterly uncalled & hateful abuse & near-persecution like cases on my person in general, with simply a mere smallish dose of my usual trademark-like sarcasm... possibly garnished with some jesty imagery but certainly very often with plenty of them pesky smiling or laughing types of (but apparently often overlooked?! wink wink) emoticons btw!

PS: If you 82 as I somewhat suspect doesn't know your limitations one way or another and perhaps also just deeply & childishly crave to have the 'Last Word'.... well doh! PleaZzze then be my guest and continue your vaguely amusing & 'Fake News' like mud-throwing... *smile* ....but don't expect your "abuse hungry audience" to include yours truly or his indulgence, by then comrade!

Hail Delia

er this has to be a wind up..yes he was a good player but some of his waffle after he left spurs for arsenal and since then his comments etc, he definetly would not be a good fit for our club, never warmed to him at all, seems to have a bit of an attitude woe is me type! and why is shefki favourite? he has managed in a pub league, my word! he was an ok player for us but seriously him as our manager nah!

I'll have a go.

I'll be honest I got board half way through but to the hilights.

Deny it all you like, you chucked out Mcathyism to show that you are ever so clever and indeed you may be but it was done with condescension, to put it in a parlance we both understand it was a daisy girl commercial moment.

Forgive me, I missed your Irony, I'm not one for faces or emojis etc, guess I'm just not down wits the kids. The subtly and nuance of such dryness can get lost in the written word, especially when one chooses to use a manner from the generation after my own. I'm sure you will forgive me and I compliment on your uber cool understanding of the modern shorthand.

I would ask why is it when you have little jibe with or without brackets it's all jolly japes and bit of fun but one someone throws one at you it's hateful and personal? Now that's irony. You claim your skin to be well padded and yet of you went, now if you feel that someone questioning colours is insulting that fair and if it offended I do indeed apologise but as you point out. Our opinions are our own and to those we are entitled.

As for Negativity, even your handle is negative, it's a state of mind and the ocassional ray of sunshine through the storm clouds does not make a summer. I apologise, I havet read your entire back catalogue, I'm rather caught up in Looks who's back and your hip style hasn't been enough to tear me away for long. Never the less my on the whole good memory is of overt negativity from you, stereotypes are often just that for a reason.

You claim persecution, I think if you know your American history as well as it would appear, then I won't need to point you to Jim Crow or Rosa Parks to put into context just how outlandishly lacking in perspective that is.......

I would add that had you read more of my posts over the years it's is frequently I that calls out any abuse on hers including last week's calling out of those calling people on here "nonces" but I am so arrogant as to expect you to have read the complete works or BlueandTrueSince82 and for that I will forgive you......
