Saturday, 21st Jul 2018 14:19

Returning keeper Bartosz Bialkowski and much-coveted striker Martyn Waghorn both start this afternoon’s friendly at Barnet (KO 3pm).

Bialkowski makes his first appearance of pre-season having been away following his stint at the World Cup with Poland.

Striker Joe Garner and midfielder Tom Adeyemi remain absent with knee and achilles problems respectively, along with Teddy Bishop, Emyr Huws and Danny Rowe, who continue to work on their fitness. Jonas Knudsen is due back at the club on Monday following his post-World Cup break.

Drafted into the travelling party are Bailey Clements, a young left-back, and central defender or right-back Corrie Ndaba.

Town: Bialkowski, Emmanuel, Kenlock, Chambers (c), Woolfenden, Ward, Downes, Skuse, Roberts, Waghorn, Sears. Subs: Gerken, Spence, Clements, Ndaba, Nydam, Dozzell, Edwards, Folami.

Is there any reason why we seem to have been bringing 6, 7 or 8 subs when you're allowed up to 12 for a friendly? To prove a point that we are low on players, fringe players not good enough or did we arrange too many friendlies?

Could people please just leave Mr Hurst to do his job please. All these negative comments about formations and team selections and it's only pre season. Look you got your man now just leave him alone to figure this poor club out and how he's going to save us. Either wind your neck in or apply for the job yourselves.

@davesuperg does 2 wingers and no aerial power up front make sense to you ?

Because it's pointless? Let's give someone 3 mins shall we? PH is embedding his style so 45 mins not enough so changing the entire teams at half time is needless so why bring some lads to bench war when they could train?

The bile that some 'Fans' spit, Mick got it, now Hurst and the season hasn't even started.

With fans like these

@bossman why do you nead Aerial threat if he is going to use the wingers as inside forwards?

Wingers are allowed to cross the ball to feet you know. There is no rule that says it has to be put up in the air.

@bossman. Most converted crosses from wingers are scored with the feet. You need pace to get a yard on the defenders rather than aerial threat.

All this about investment. Who covers the losses when we don't sell a player?? Up to the owner if he doesn't want to invest more than the normal operating losses. If we don't like it stop winging and form a group to buy him out...

Yes if we can collectively lose around 5 million a year buy him out

Time to be harsh and quick with it. Move on All sicknotes, if they are not 100% now they have and will continue to have issues

This manager seems to me seems to have old school rules with the added bonus of new school football, ie if you don't pull your socks up your out, but if you want to start hard and stick around and things aren't going our way I have a plan b.
