Town Getting Closer on Tilt Tuesday, 28th Aug 2018 17:20
TWTD understands Town are finally getting closer to completing the signing of Blackpool central defender Curtis Tilt on loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.
The Blues have been chasing the 27-year-old all summer but without having been able to agree a fee with the Seasiders with bids of up to £800,000 turned down, the League One club having targeted a £1 million fee.
Tilt, who has a year left on his contract at Bloomfield Road but with the Tangerines having an option for a further season, was left out of the Blackpool team which drew 1-1 at home to Accrington on Saturday, although interim-boss Terry McPhillips subsequently said the former Wrexham man was left out as a fitness precaution.
Quizzed on Tilt following Town’s game at Sheffield Wednesday, Blues boss Paul Hurst confirmed he is a player he remains interested in: “Yes, I’m not going to change my mind and think he’s suddenly a bad player or anything but he’s one of the players [I’m interested in], no secret.
“I don’t particularly like speaking about other players but it’s out there but it’s been discussed numerous times already.”
Tilt played in non-league for Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, AFC Telford Town, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers (loan) before joining Blackpool last summer.
He made 45 starts for the League One side in 2017/18, his first EFL campaign, scoring once and picking up three Seasiders’ player of the season gongs. This season he had made three starts prior to being left out of Saturday's side.
Rangers, Reading, QPR and Portsmouth have all also been linked with Tilt this summer.

Another CB from League One who according to a YouTube clip is the next Maldini and a winger who has played less than 20 games in four years. Forgive me for not getting excited!
Boroughblue.... I suppose those being negative on here are not allowed to voice an opinion? Unlike the numbskulls who booed the team throughout last season and targeted their anger at an 18 year old...... Cause they're the real fans!!
I thought we could only make 2 loan signings until Donacien visa confirmed? Unless I have missed that. Tilt is great but it means graham prevents us from getting a much needed striker, unless Hurst is planning on using him as one

Let's get this straight. We aren't playing our youth, we still play with 2 defensive midfielders, one striker and Hurst plays his ‘good old boys' , who he seems to sign every club he goes to. What's changed? Dear oh dear.
Hope this guy Tilt is as good as the hype suggests he is. Bit of a worry that a lot of people are relying on a 1st Div. CH turning our fortunes around.
I am relying on Lady Luck, who hasn't been too kind to us so far this season.
