U23s Come From Behind to Beat Charlton Monday, 29th Mar 2021 16:02 Second-half goals from Armando Dobra and Levi Andoh saw Town’s U23s come from behind to beat Charlton 2-1 at Dartford’s Princes Park this afternoon.
Mason Burstow gave the Addicks the lead in the ninth minute but Dobra levelled 10 minutes after the break and Andoh completed the turnaround with 20 minutes remaining.
Keeper David Cornell and striker Oli Hawkins, who was back on the first-team bench at the weekend following knee surgery, started along with Dobra and Tristan Nydam, who is continuing his comeback from his lengthy absence due to an ankle injury.
Manager Paul Cook said at the weekend that he and first-team coach Gary Roberts would be making the trip to watch the match.
“There’s an U23s game at Charlton on Monday, we’ll be very strong,” he said. “Myself and Gary, we’ll all be there watching the lads, it’s an opportunity to impress.”
Young Needham Market midfielder Callum Page again featured as he continues his lengthy trial.
The young Blues, who are coached by Kieron Dyer and Terry Butcher, remain second in Professional Development League Two South behind leaders Bristol City.
U23s: Cornell, Crowe, Andoh, Armin, Clements, Alexander, Nydam, Page, Dobra, Crane, Hawkins. Subs: Bort, Oppong, Humphreys, Z Brown, Simpson.

Well done lads! Hopefully Dobra can get a start on Friday! Looked great when he came on, on the weekend.

Not sure Dobra looked "great," but he was energetic and certainly not one of the worst in a very poor display.

Steve maybe great wasnt the right word. But he looked alot lot better than what we already had on the pitch. He's always wanted the ball and get forward with it to try create something.

Great news to see Nydam is back. Would be an excellent addition to the side in the run - in and play offs.

Nydam not physically ready yet for first team will probably go out on loan.

Am I alone in wondering how it is that the U18 and the U23 teams can win their games, but the first team can't? Perhaps the clue is in the word "team". The first team seem to have a squad, but an inability to play as a team. Time to change the personnel. Big clear out needed in the summer.

Don't be surprised to see one or two U23's joining the senior squad for a few games before the end of the season . The seniors have had their chance quite frankly . Time for some of the youngsters to get their chance now.

No Lankester, Skuse, Huws. Wouldn,t it be an idea to play them to keep them match fit ready for first team if needed? Or maybe PC has already decided they are surplus to requirements.

Anybody know the wherabouts of Huws ? no where near 1st team, not in U23's , is he training or injured ?

Lankester another one of our over hyped over rated youngsters who has failed to deliver in a very poor league. Skuse has been a great servant to the club but i think coming back from long term injury at his age is too much. For me Huws has been finished for a long time and has never got over his injuries and has had numerous chances but has failed to impress. Cook is finding out in the hard training sessions who are the lame ducks who will be released there will be no sympathy.

Too many 1st teamers just going through the motions and not prepared to make the effort. There must be some of the youngsters worth putting on the bench. For too long some 1st team think they are too good for L1 and as has been said we have an overweight squad whereas U23 an U18 are playing like a team and more importantly scoring.

Agree with a lot said on here. I would not be surprised if players who appear to be constantly injured end up out of the game altogether this summer. A lot of mental aspects are often at the root, and if players aren't willing to exhaust every available avenue to get and stay fit then their heart clearly isn't in it. Sad, harsh, but ultimately quite often true.
