Sir Bobby Robson Stand to Be Jet-Washed
Monday, 24th Jul 2023 16:48

The Sir Bobby Robson Stand is set to be jet-washed on Wednesday and Thursday of this week ahead of the new season with Sir Alf Ramsey Way closed to allow the work to take place.

The road is set to be closed between 7.30am and 4.30pm with a diversion put in place.

The stand, which was rebuilt during 2001/02, was last cleaned in April 2020, fans having been critical of the state of the back of its roof for a number of seasons under previous owner Marcus Evans.

The work is part of the ongoing tidying of the stadium which has been under way since the takeover.

There are plants growing on the roof of The Sir Alf and leaks when it rains and has done for many years.

Really in need of some TLC

RegencyBlue Yes, it will be live, but you will have to join a club that costs 30 pounds so that you are able to buy the jet wash pass for 5.99

Some amusing comments above.

In all seriousness, this in another indicator how our new owners and senior management team are trying to improve our Portman Road home.

It may be a relatively small task, compared with some of the other major infrastrasture developments of which we are all aware, but sometimes it's the smaller, less expensive little jobs like this which speak volumes about the mindset of our owners.

This task could so very easily be overlooked, or just not done (as per the ME regime), but our owners seem to be really trying to improve our brilliant but but somewhat ageing stadium and I for one really applaud them for doing it. We can all be very proud of Portman Road again.

For those that don't pay attention. Mike O' Leary said at a forum a long time ago that there was lots of work to do on the stadium and that it wouldn't happen overnight.

TerryF, you’re absolutely right! I’m fairly sure that it’s an actual tree that is taking hold in one of the SAR gutters!

We could do with a season long hawk like they have at Wimbledon. Keeps pigeons and seagulls away.

Get the peregrine falcon from Milton keynes-
I saw it catch a pigeon after about 10 minutes at this seasons game, was not put off by the vast array of beach balls, inflatable whales etc being thrown around below it.

Was at PR yesterday, the work they've done on the Cobbold stand is excellent too, it's had a really good upgrade inside, all the exits repainted in white, the old pebble wall in front of the Exec boxes has been replaced and the whole thing looks 30 years younger than it did

Just couldn’t agree more with all that Botesdale Blue has to say or the sentiments therein !
From top to bottom of ITFC we now have a forward loooking team , well led and purposeful in the planning ,of each and every aspect it seems !
