Town Drawn Away Against AFC Wimbledon or Ramsgate in FA Cup
Sunday, 3rd Dec 2023 13:04

Town have been drawn away against League Two AFC Wimbledon or Isthmian League South East Division Ramsgate in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Dons, who are 10th in the fourth tier, host the Kent side, who are top of the eighth, at Plough Lane in their second round tie live on ITV4 on Monday at 7.45pm.

Town have never previously met either club in the FA Cup. Former Blues forward Lee Martin is now with Ramsgate.

Third round ties will take place over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday 6th and 7th January.

The Blues are entering the competition at the third round stage for the first time since 2018/19.

Last season, Town came through rounds one, two and three before losing to eventual Championship title winners Burnley in the fourth after a replay at Turf Moor.

Good to get some minutes in the players who are not getting many at the minute, Baggott Walton etc

Some of the players Town will bring in you have to feel for these sides

Perfect draw. Not too far to travel in depth of winter: no pressure to try to overcome a middle strength PL side: excellent game time for non A side regulars who will get a short rest at a busy and very important time in our quest for greater glories. Wembley can wait a bit longer

Amazing draw for Ramsgate, if they (hopefully) get through tomorrow night.

Hope for Wimbledon. Ramsgate in the depths of winter isn't a pleasant place to be.

a game to give the fringe players a run out , then forget and concentrate on the real job at hand.

McKenna has stated neither of the cups is a priority, so hopefully we go out against Wimbledon and can concentrate on promotion. If he wants to give fringe players minutes in meaningless fixtures, we can organize a behind-closed-doors friendly during one of the international breaks. I don't need any more nights like Fulham, thanks.

Lee Martin or Joe Pigott - you decide who was the worse signing.
