Former Town loanee Paul Gerrard has signed a three month loan deal with Sheffield United, seemingly ending the chances of Andy Marshall making a move to Bramall Lane.

The Blades enquired regarding Marshall earlier this week, but appear to have
decided not to follow it up.

Elsewhere, Doncaster Rovers want to take Nabil Abidallah on loan and he is set to train with the Yorkshire side. The Dutchman is out of Joe Royle's plans and is available on a free transfer.

Trialist Ryan France, who plays for Alfreton Town and not Altrincham as reported elsewhere, will get the chance to impress the Town staff again. The 22- year-old right midfielder did well in the reserves friendly with Cambridge United on Wednesday.

Currently Alfreton's top scorer, France almost joined Coventry in the summer but the deal fell through due to a row between the two clubs regarding his transfer fee.

France has interested a number of other First Division sides including Stoke City.
