Men against Boys - second best in all departments.

First half two solid defences. A change of attacking approach by Middlesborough at half time saw them play the ball on the ground much more and saw their superior quality show. McGoldrick gave a glimpse of what we are missing without him, Bishop and Bru.

First half was pretty much two well matched sides with attacking intent that cancelled each other out. With the change in emphasis after the break it was Middlesbrough that began to look the better side with Ipswich making too many simple mistakes in key areas. There was only likely to be one winner after the first (slightly fortunate) goal went in. We are badly missing the creative spark of Bru, Bishop and Fraser so the sooner we get them fit the better we will be for it.
On a different note it was really refreshing to have a good refereeing performance after some of the rubbish we usually get!

Decent first half, taught a lesson second half. Midfield very much second best second half, some sloppy passing and no pace out wide. Knudsen's long throws offer nothing and in fact put us on the back foot as we always end up losing the ball and now even a goal.
Boro seemed to have another gear to shift into which we lacked. Movement was poor second half and lack of pace evident.
Hopefully return of Fraser, Bishop, Hyam, Bru, Varney and maybe emergence of Oar can have a huge impact second half of season.
Boro look a good bet for promotion, top 5 pulling away, just one place to play for.

First half we were great and should have been in front. Their keeper had a great game. We gave the ball away cheap, didn't stop a cross in, keeper stuck to his line and Knudsen lost his man.
We need a keeper who can deal with crosses like that - and we've got one on the bench. Gerken's in great form with his shot-stopping, but he could have stopped that goal by getting anything on that cross. Leaving the cross and trying instead to stop the point blank effort that comes from it is just bad decision-making.
Not too disheartened though, Boro are highly professional and had to work their nuts off for those points - we showed signs we can compete with the best and we'll need to looking at the next months fixtures.

The difference was that they took their cahnces and we didnt. Pitman was unlucky in first half and on another day could've scored two but Chambers missed golden chance and allowed keeper to save, anything on the ground would have been enough. AMN was great and caused them all sorts of trouble but Borough have pace in their side and get forward much quicker than Town. I thought Skuse was very poor, he almost difted them a goal with poor back pace and then set up their second. It beats me why MM rates him so highly! Just hope Bru and Bish get back soon

Good performance first half. Town were pressing and moving the ball around well. Could have had a couple of goals if it hadn't been for their keeper. Second half was a completely different affair, with Boro taking us apart, they are a different class and show what a bit of money can do to buy some class. We are so weak when defending down the right hand side and reverted to the long ball again going forward. I agree with Smithy there is only one place available for the playoffs.
Have we won a single header from Knudsen's long throws?! Let's get it back on track at MK Dons.

Normal missed chances, poor defending ,and poor tactics from a average manager.

Matched them in the first half, they got that bit of luck with the opener and that was it. Depressing air of inevitability about the second, and the scoreline probably flattered them a bit, but overall they deserved the win.

Solve the full back problems and and a spark in midfield and we are a decent team. Up until they scored it was a good competive game with their goalkeeper keeping us out. Some lovely touches from Miles.
