| News Comment | McKenna: Specialist Hopeful Burns Won't Need Surgery at 08:01:44
We definitely miss Wes. Jackson has done well as impact sub but his crossing at Bristol was woeful and didn't create a single chance. We also need Freddie back as Scarlett is off the pace at the moment as had little game time |
| News Comment | Fans Urged to Stay Off the Pitch at 14:55:39
I'm not going to name call the ‘invaders' but I would like them to think carefully. If (and I say if) we are in the fortunate position to get promoted what would you prefer? A pitch invasion where the players sprint for the tunnel and then can only come out to share their joy 30 mins later or a fairly instant mutual sharing of success with packed stands, as at Barnsley on Wednesday. It really is not that difficult but I can see from this thread that some are hell bent on following their own agenda and not do what is best for all |
| News Comment | Waghorn Linked With Town Return at 16:17:56
Why write a player off purely on the basis of age? Ryan Giggs was still playing Premier League at 38 and 36yo Fernandinho was superb for Man City last night. Waghorn still has links with Ipswich via the Hub at UoS |
| News Comment | Updated - Marcus Evans Interview at 14:29:40
Admit it most posters, you were waiting with your knives sharpened! But most on here have been reasonably impressed with Marcus' honesty and credibility. He appears to be trying to offer what most of us want (except masses of money of course) and the strategy will succeed or fail on his gamble with the new manager. I think the questions asked were challenging enough. I preferred listening to Marcus professionalism than McCarthy's arrogant tirades or Milne's middle man puppetry. I hope the plans succeed as there are thousands of fans waiting to return and hoping for some entertainment |
| News Comment | Ex-Players On Tour of Suffolk at 13:43:31
That is an appalling comment essexbluey. These guys are raising money for charity and because they are 'names' they are likely to be more successful. One of the charities is prostate cancer, for which I have been treated for the last 4 years. How sad you cannot appreciate and respect what they are doing. Even better, join in next year for your own ego trip |
| News Comment | McCarthy and Evans Both Want Town to Be Competitive Going Forward at 17:07:04
“I've told you, I do not want to be sat here at the start of next season thinking ‘There's only been so many thousand season tickets sold, there's apathy around the place'. Well MIck, that's exactly how it is. Even a few results between now and the end of season will not make supporters like me any less disillusioned. This has been the most mind numbing, boring season of the 60 I have been attending and I will not be renewing as that's the only way you can play. I don't like seeing managers dismissed but that is the one outcome that will stop supporters deserting in droves. It clearly isn't going to happen so my lifelong love affair will end on a very dismal note |
| News Comment | Town Announce 2017/18 Season Ticket Prices at 08:45:13
While the prices at ITFC are ridiculously high compared to other championship clubs, we would have no trouble getting 27-28000 if we were challenging for the league and 23-24000 around the play-offs. The fall off last and this season has mainly been due to the dire football orchestrated by McCarthy and we are expected to renew on the basis that he will still be there. Well, after 60 years of support, no thanks and my 3 companions are not renewing either. If McCarthy does go at the end of the season, it will still take a long time to get the disillusioned back. Very sad times for my beloved ITFC |
| News Comment | McCarthy: I've No Intention of Walking Away From Contract at This Moment at 22:46:02
I know football fans are notoriously fickle but when a few on here have been diehard like Cornardblue and myself for 60 years, and have had enough, it is time to worry. I have seen every promotion, relegation and cup wins since 1956 but have never been so disaffected and bored as in the last 2 seasons. I have seen us ship 9 goals twice and 10 at Fulham without ever considering deserting the ship. This season, however, has seen the final straws. It looks like McCarthy will not be leaving so, sadly, I will. I think we have some reasonable players but the style of play is dire and McCarthy has now proven beyond doubt that he cannot change this style or the emphasis on not losing. We would hoof it long even if we had Barcelona's front three. It hurts me desperately to see woeful, boring performances week after week as against Wolves and then hear McCarthy bigging up the opposition. He even did it with Rotherham who only have one away point all season. No prizes for guessing. Sometimes even though you care you have to walk away. This is one of those occasions. |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers - Match Report at 22:51:20
A second season devoid of any entertainment. That was horrendous and 4 of the back 5 just hoof the ball to opposition defenders. Bringing on Moore is a joke as he is nowhere near good enough. How we cannot remotely threaten woeful opposition is beyond me. I actually think we have some decent players but Mick's selection and tactics are baffling. I don't know whether he will stay or go but, after 60 years, I won't be renewing as I want to use whatever time I have left more productively |
| News Comment | Milne: Stay With Mick at 11:18:18
Oh dear Mr Milne. I have given 60 years of my life (moniker is out of date) to the club and almost feel indifference to it now it is being destroyed by an owner and MD who know nothing about football and how a club should be run. If they did, they would know that Mick McCarthy has passed his sell by date. Yes, he saved us from the aftermath of Keane and Jewell but you cannot survive on that mini-achievement. Yes, we did well to reach the play offs but that was due to a superlative season by Murphy and the sum being greater than the parts. Since then we have gone into decline and, trust me, we are playing the most boring football in all of those 60 years but we don't have the worst players. I know I have not been involved in professional football but I have learnt enough to know that McCarthy is currently destroying the careers of Sears, Chambers, Ward, Bishop etc. and failing consistently to get a decent squad of players to perform and entertain. Selections are baffling and to play Digby, Best and Douglas is an insult to us. Well, hood on you in giving the vote of confidence. Just don't expect even stalwarts like me to renew next season as, frankly, I cannot bear to see my side destroyed this way |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-2 Lincoln City - Match Report at 08:42:22
I've been supporting the club for 60 years and, until the beginning of 2016, never thought I would say I would rather be somewhere else or watching paint dry. We've had some poor times over that period and some bad managers too but I didn't lose my enthusiasm, realistically consider not going or giving up my season ticket. It is disturbing too that so many from my era are totally disillusioned with our method of play and the boring, uncreative, rigid style that we have. I actually believe we have some good players but it is patently obvious to all except those who run the club that McCarthy is past his sell by date. Be worried ITFC, many stalwarts like me are not going to renew under this regime, there appears to be no concern over this and a weasly words 5 point plan is not going to be the epiphany that turns everything around. Very worrying days indeed |

Perhaps I need to change my specs JustSpivvyChops. So Berra is right footed? Don't think so but his right foot is better than Tommy's |
