Town Confirm Williams Loan Signing
at 14:27:49

Also hopefully as impactful and well received as the last Williams we signed from the Premier League on loan. Still can't believe Joniesta is only 29 given how long ago we had him!

Town Confirm Williams Loan Signing
at 14:26:29

Do we know if there's an option to buy included? I assume he's a loan for the year with nothing further at this stage, on the basis he'll presumably be wanting at least half of his Man U salary to go anywhere else permanently. Even £30k+ per week to sign permanently feels like it might be a bit much for us, regardless how good he is!

Town Draw Reading Away
at 08:35:03

Complete agree BlueinBerks! Fellow Reading resident here - see you there. Hope we take a decent number despite us likely fielding a (still strong) second string team. Sandwiched between Leeds and Cardiff home league fixtures, can't imagine we're putting a full strength 11 out. At least it's not Plymouth/Exeter/really far away for them to travel to midweek.

Ashton: First Summer Recruitment Meeting With McKenna Took Place This Week
at 08:40:39

Even if we didn't go up this season, I'm really excited for next season. The thought of this squad playing together having already gelled, going at teams for a full season with a few no doubt excellent additions to come? We'll genuinely be unstoppable. COYB!

Ashton: I Wanted to Be Respectful to Fans on Season Ticket Prices

Presumably the price remains the same whichever league we're in. Personally I have no issue with this, and trust Ashton's maths. I daresay the club's expenditure has gone up more than 6%, so not like they're being greedy and just passing the extra onto the fans - they'll be getting hit hard in the pocket too. In Ashton and McKenna we trust.

TWTD League Calculator 2022/23
at 12:50:08

Sheffield Wednesday P46 106pts +50
Plymouth Argyle P46 102pts +34
Barnsley P46 98pts +39
Ipswich Town P46 91pts +44

We'll lose to Derby and get Wycombed, while I don't see the others really dropping any points, but only because I'm a natural pessimist. For anyone to get 90+ and not go up automatically is a farce!

Blues' Promotion Rivals in Action
at 19:59:28

I don't think anyone is catching Wednesday - they've got a really easy run-in (Burton, Forest Green, Cheltenham etc). I'd rather them stuff Barnsley and go and win the league, and leave us to pick off Plymouth on our own. We don't want to find we catch Plymouth and Barnsley sneak up behind us! Lots of red cards and a few injuries for both Plymouth and Barnsley would be the preferred outcome, without wishing ill on any individual in particular.

Town to Introduce Singing Section

Personally love this - not an area that can be disrupted by a big away allocation either. How good will this be when we play Norwich at home next season in the Championship?

Burgess: Nothing is Defined This Time of Year
at 11:57:55

At the start of the year we'd have taken the spot we're in so we can't lose sight of that, we're four off auto promotion with Sheffield still to come to us, but I think there are only a few more games like this before people start to worry. Plenty of teams we've gifted points to and not sure how we stop that becoming a habit. A few that stick out:

Sheff Wed away (2-0 up with 15 to play)
Charlton away (2-0 up and 4-2 up)
Fleetwood home (96th min equaliser)
Plymouth (93rd min equaliser)

Turn all those games into wins and that table looks very different:
Town 59
Plymouth 57
Sheff W 54

We'll get there, but really need to demolish Oxford on Saturday to make a statement and get back to winning ways. Sheffield don't look like losing any time soon and Derby starting to click behind us. Let's not let this great start to the season slip away. Keep the faith. COYB

Motherwell Boss Hoping to Conclude Penney Talks
at 12:25:48

Still relatively young, but with Davis here to stay, at best he's our second choice left back. I rate Leigh above Penney anyway, so think we can cash in (or at least just get his wages off the books) and not lose too much sleep, but wish him the best for the future either way.

Former Blues Loanee Bonne Leaves QPR
at 10:41:30

if he'd take a 6 month deal to the end of the season with an extra year automatically added if we are promoted or he scores 10 goals before the end of the year, why not? If Ladapo gets injured, we're reliant on Jackson and Adamhe to plug the gap. The latter hasn't really got a chance yet but Jackson isn't a goalscorer, for all his hard work and endeavour. Scored twice in the league all season and hasn't scored a league goal since September. Even with Bonne's dip in form last season, he's worth a deal with a few incentives attached to it, in my book.

Can take it or leave it with Taylor, personally. Rather get the chequebook out for Clarke-Harris even though he'll be pricy and is getting Championship attention. I can't think of the last player we got from Peterborough that blew us away, which is my concern. Paul Taylor, Wordsworth and Gwion Edwards the only ones I can think of. Happy to be proven wrong though if he did come through the door. COYB. This is our year

MK Dons Sack Former Town Academy Coach Manning
at 09:25:35

They massively overperformed last year (thought they looked fairly poor when we played them at MK last season) so were always going to come back down to Earth, even without other teams improving and MK selling their best players and asking the manager to perform miracles with one hand tied behind his back! Hope he finds another job soon.
