Town 0-0 Reading - Half-Time

NSL's message epitomises so much of what I've seen from TWTD comments this season - someone who's all too keen to jump on the team's back. So keen, in fact, they can't even wait for the game to finish. Come on, mate. Play to the whistle.

Town 4-2 Birmingham - Match Report
at 22:34:54

Really chuffed with that result tonight. I don't post very often, but I do feel the need to say a little something after reading a few of the back-and-forths on here before this evening's game. And what I want to say is this.

We might not be playing the most attractive football in the world, but we are winning more often than not. And we might not have the most skillful players in the world, but we do have an undoubted team spirit and a group that plays hard, honest footy for the fans and for each other.

The way I see it, we're extremely fortunate to be in a position where some of us are expecting perfection - and if that's you, you're perfectly entitled to your opinion.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. What matters is that we're still in the running for having a season to remember and not — as plenty of others in recent history have gone — already notching it down as a season to forget.

I, for one, am ecstatic with how this season's going. Mick and TC have worked wonders bringing in players that other clubs wouldn't give a second look to and turning their careers around, as well as our prospects, in the process.

From one very happy Ipswich fan.

Town Linked With McCarthy Talks
at 21:02:42

Long time reader, first time poster.

I'd be pretty pleased with Mick, if I'm honest. Sure, he's not the most glamorous of hires, but I don't think that's what we need right now. What we need is an experienced manager with a sound head on his shoulders, some substance to his game and tactics, and the wherewithal to be able to assess what we've got, go out and get what we need and get rid of what we don't. It might not be pretty, but it will work - and that's all I care about at the moment.

I'd love to see a young, up-and-coming manager step in and revolutionize our football with smarts and style, but there's an undoubted element of risk to that choice. And that's not even an option we can afford to consider at this point.

The fact of the matter is that we need a strong character, someone the whole club will listen to - fans included - and I think that in McCarthy, or in Curbishley for that matter, we'd fill that quota.
