Former Blue Norris Overwhelmed By Fans' Support
at 15:12:14

There is a lot of nonsense about "embarrassment to the badge" posted, no doubt, by some that know nothing about what that means. I remember an Ipswich player who celebrated a goal with a "handcuff" celebration in "solidarity" for his pal, Luke McCormick. That was a tad more than just embarrassing.

Pearson: We Stretched Them Right to the Limit
at 10:30:02

that seems like a fair assessment to me, too. We do not need, and should not expect, every opposition manager to be fawning over how brilliant Ipswich are. We were very good for most of the first half, and City pegged us back in the second, but without making many real clear-cut chances. Pearson is famous for giving serious, level-headed, and considered responses in press conferences and interviews.

McKenna: There's Big Frustration in the Dressing Room
at 08:38:46

The substitutions certainly didn't work out as intended, but was there anyone on the bench who possesses the sort of creative ability that Harness and Chaplin can provide, or play the intricate one-touch in congested midfield areas as well as them? That lack of creative spark off the bench was what I thought we missed, yesterday.

Accrington Chairman Holt Issues Apology
at 09:10:55

It's interesting to read all the faux outrage on here, aimed at Holt, when it was in fact our own player who, by punching an opponent in the face, mark him out distinctly as the only villain of the piece.

McCarthy Happy With a Point

@blue75 - Ipswich wages, from the most recent set of financial results, is the 14th highest in the division, not in the top ten. http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Ipswich%20Town

Dyer: Players Need Fans’ Support Not Protests
at 22:26:53

I'm afraid that it is time that many Ipswich fans woke up. Read the Swiss Ramble blog on the ITFC finances. 2015/16, despite having one of the lowest wage bills in the division, the club's wage bill was more than 100% of turnover. There are a lot of deluded people writing on this forum, saying that Marcus Evans needs to invest more. I say that we are lucky to still have a club in existence to support. MM's football is not pretty, but it is not a level playing field. Brighton loat £26m, last year! Newcastle spent £55m in transfer fees and got relegated! If we can keep our heads above water, and stay in this division, then that is a success, even though the football is ugly. A lot of you so-called supporters haven't got a clue regarding what it takes to run a football club .

McCarthy: Lincoln Unfortunate Not to Win It
at 11:40:27

busterjames - John McGreal would have had "McGreal out - you dinosaur!" ringing in his ears at the end of November, having gone two months without a win. It's a good job that the board of directors doesn't always listen to supporters.

Bristol City 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report

blueboy1981, do you think that it would help if players started to argue among themselves, in public?

What examples have you of players who are not playing their natural game, please?

Bristol City 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 17:04:58

ITFCsince78, I'm pretty sure that Bristol City do own Ashton Gate, through holding companies owned by Lansdown. They were looking to sell it to Sainsburys a couple of years ago.

Oddly enough, although you are right in that the football on Saturday wasn't great (several of my City-supporting friends described the game as dreadful), I found it absorbing. It is true that the team are finding it very hard to create chances, and when they do, they are not usually testing the keeper (see Knudsen's choice to shoot from a tight angle, when I think that he had the opportunity to put it across the six yard box, on a rare occasion when he had broken through). I didn't think that it looked as though Ipswich were set up to go for a 0-0 draw; but neither were they set up to get spanked.

I thought that Lawrence looked good when he had the ball under control, but too often passes in to him were bouncing off him. Agreed re Webster; he looks good bringing the ball forward, too.

City's Wilbraham and especially Abraham were causing us problems; especially Abraham's surprising pace (which earned him the penalty).

chrishants - yes, Holland had energy and the ability to get into the box, but I certainly would never have described him as a flair player.

Bristol City 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 15:36:19

As a Town fan who lives in Bristol, I don't get to see many matches, live, but always look forward to the annual disappointment at Ashton Gate.

While understanding the frustrations of many fans posting on TWTD, I feel compelled to add my tuppen'orth:

- in my opinion, McCarthy's post-match comments (not much between the two sides) were accurate. City got the breaks, Ipswich didn't.

- Ipswich did not play "hoof ball". They were passing the ball around, trying to pull the opposition out of shape, but found it difficult to get in behind the City defence and, when they did, could not capitalise.

- there is a lack of creativity in the squad. Even the lauded Lawrence looked as though his first touch was letting him down on a number of occasions, Ward was pretty anonymous, and McGoldrick (our stand-out player) was trying to do too much.

- I disagree strongly with all the comments about "this is Bristol City we're talking about, not Real Madrid" etc. There seems to be a sense of entitlement in the TWTD forums that is delusional. Is Ipswich that big a club that it can expect to just turn up at Ashton Gate and be handed the three points? Is it expected that every decent, creative player will be willing to sign for Ipswich, rather than a club like Bristol City? That type of player is at a premium. Yes, we have Bishop and Williams, but if that was our midfield pairing against City, I believe that the score would have been greater than 2-0. Skuse and Douglas played OK, I thought.

Many posts in this forum don't appear to acknowledge that there is always another team playing against Ipswich; a team that also has a tactical plan, some decent players, and an urge to win.

Is there a better manager out there who could transform our team into a table-topping side? Maybe a bit of stability on the managerial front is an under-rated position to be in. Ipswich are not a dreadful team, and I believe that we should stick by McCarthy.
