Leeds - Norwich Highlights.
at 08:50 5 Feb 2019

Was trying to get in the mood for our trip this weekend. Made the horrible mistake of watching the Leeds — Norwich highlights. If you haven’t yet; don’t. No really. Don’t. I was comforting myself with the ‘derby games are different’ thoughts but holly sh*t we could be in for a piece of ITFC history this Sunday and it’s not gonna be a pretty. The pressure they put on and the way they fought for every single ball is everything we lack.

If we’re gonna try our famous playing from back style — I’m not easily embarrassed but that actually does the trick — we’re going to remember this day for generations to come.

Good thing the pub opens at 6 so by kick-off I’ve talked myself into a 0-1 sh*thouse win…

How good is lambert really...
at 10:31 21 Jan 2019

We brought Lambert in because we expected him to do better with the squad at hand. Could have well stuck with Hurst until January if we didn’t. He walked in with a ‘Hold my beer, I got this’ attitude and changed next to nothing on the pitch. I for one expected a bit more from an experienced manager.

Did he inherit a mess? Yes. Fair to judge him already? No. Do I want him to stay? Yes. But not being able to ask questions annoys me as there are serval issues that are certainly up for discussion. The personal beefs with Graham and Donacien in our time of need. Elder over Kenlock. Dropping Harrison from the squat after a fantastic game vs Millwall. Us being worse every second half of pretty much every game.

His PR game is A+ and much needed / appreciated but it won’t last until the end of the season.

£750k for Donkeycien, less than a month later he’s available for loan.
at 09:08 18 Jan 2019

Let’s not kid ourselves here. Something happened between Donacien and Lambert at Villa that left him without a snowballs chance in Hell. Same with Graham but then at Wolves. Because Graham offered f*ck all no one batted an eye. Donacien certainly didn’t set the world or fire with his performances here but has been MOtM at right back at least once. Not giving him a single chance when Spence was dropping ball week in week out is beyond not rating a player.

Almost seems like our manager put personal issues ahead of what would likely be best for a club fighting relegation. Of course, you can’t suggest that here without getting about 250 down votes because Lambert has been accepted as the next greatest thing since sliced bread.

4-2 win for the U23s
at 15:19 7 Jan 2019

I dont think he's making that point but I agree with you. Money / Quality players will get us out of this mess. If that is not an option then just let Kenlock, Emmanuel, Woolfenden, Nydam etc gain experience the remainder of the season.

You nailed it, pal. Someone who got send back from a L1 side and someone with the killer instinct of a labrador pup will get us out of of this mess.

Lambert
at 14:07 2 Jan 2019

You can't blame Lambert but calling him brilliant is the other end of the spectrum imo. He hasn’t plugged any leaks. Both Bristol and Millwall changed the game by small tactical changes and he didn’t react at all.

It’s a personal thing but I don’t like managers running around the coaching area like they are on steroids. Just analyse the game and tweak when necessary. I get what he’s trying to do but it looks a bit silly when it has zero effect. Can’t really blame the players for getting caught up with the emotions of the game when you’re putting on a side-line show for 90 minutes.

I’m trying really hard to like him but he’s not making it very easy. He says and does — inviting legends to the training ground — a lot of things right. He sure works his sock off I believe that.

Feels like he tried to plug all our leaks at once. We are crap. This lot can’t play passing football from the back. He should have sorted our defence out. Play 7 at the back for all I care but I was about getting points on the board. Too late for that now.

That being said; I want him to stay. He will get it right. Just not in time to save us from relegation. I expected a bit more from an experienced manager to be honest but it seems he misjudged our quality a bit.

Weren't Tottenham buying Dozzell? Let do a deal. He'd bang in 25 in the 20 games left.

The Evans situation
at 08:42 31 Dec 2018

Let’s be honest. It looks like it’s not a matter whether Evans wants to invest it’s a matter of whether he actually can. We dropped the following players from our wages bill:

Crowe
Smith
Carter-Vickers
Iorfa
Connolly
Bru
Hyam
Gleeson
Celina
Patterson
Carayol
McGoldrick
McCarthy

Let be real; the list above is easily ~ 4/5 million of our 18 million wage bill.

After that he STILL told the new manager he needed to sell to make changes when we had two marketable players in our entire squad.

Refused to sign Tilt and let the manager start the season with one fekking centre back.

Sells the name off the shirt — 2 mil for 3 years (lol).

These are the actions of man desperate for money. Not someone trying to be successful with a football club.

Hi lads,

Just booked our trip to the derby game. One small problem: tickets. Looking for two away-end tickets. If you’re eligible for the game and can’t make it on Feb 10th and are willing to help out; please let me know.

If you have any other options / suggestions please let me know.

Cheers

"Only way to stay up this season IMO".

Right. And then what? Keep treading water until some bored Arab decides to buy us? Hurst could have taken the easy path. Not sanction the sales of Webster & Waghorn and loan in one or two experienced Championship players and end 15th, 18th and 12th during his time at the club.

The Ipswich Job is a mission impossible. Trying to be successful on a negative (60% of what you sell) budget. Hurst tries to build a squad that has some transfer value and can be successful in 2/3 years. Only approach that could possibly work imo is indeed getting L1/L2 in and make them better. May I remind you we weren’t able to fekking afford some of the L1/L2 players we wanted.

Are there reasons for concern? Hell yes. I don’t have clue what Hurst is doing with our defence at the moment and it looks like he’s trying to find wins desperately when he should only have his eyes on the endgame which is building a squad that has some transfer value and can be successful in 2/3 years.

Might it be that he’s panicking because everyone on the side-lines is screaming for the likes of Burley to come in when less than 10% of the projects timeline has passed?

New signings...

Agree with this wright-up a lot. I’m also baffled you want Hurst out already. He’s not trying to survive best he can like Mick did he’s building something to be successful in 2/3 years. Some look to be succeeding already — Jackson, Nsiala, Donacien & Edwards — and some might not be able to make the step up — Nolan, Harrison. Rinse and repeat next summer and say we get another 4 guys that can make the step up. All of sudden we have Championship team of own players that might even have some transfer value.
Hurst is looking to be successful in 2020/2021 imo. Not relegate en work on playing style is all we can ask for this year imo.

Graham Potter vs Paul Hurst
at 13:32 5 Oct 2018

Honestly feel we overrate our youngsters a bit. Downes went on loan at Luton and after a few starts got dropped and made like three more sub appearances. Nydam made two 20 minute sub appearances at Jonhstone when they were like 3-0 down. Woolfenden — the one I would have liked to stay the most - seems to crush at Swindon though.
