McKenna: We're Going to Assess One or Two in the Morning
at 16:39:47

On the Walton vs Hladky debate, there's no time for sentiment tomorrow (pending us being 5-0 by half time) so stick with the best team. Hladky has looked as questionable as any other player, i.e. they are all liable to a wobble in a game so that alone is not a reason to consider replacing him. The high stakes possession, press and passing game we play is always going to increase risk, whether we have Ederson or Hladky in between the sticks. Finally, I'd argue that as good a goalkeeper as Walton is, if he can't play the way we need him to then he's not the GK for us and probably best to let him move on. Same with any other player that can't play our system. For reference, I really rate him but we can't hold onto sentiment in these decisions.

FA Cup Replays Scrapped
at 21:11:13

Listening to an old episode of Quickly Kevin about Exeter City and how the FA Cup replay against Man Utd financial saved the club, about to go bust. Anyone who thinks cutting replays from the FA Cup helps football has been brainwashed by the Premier League. It will help kill the game and only make the elite more so. Stupid idea.

Downes: Fans Don't Know the Full Story of Town Exit
at 16:54:55

I think it's one of the failings of football fans to boo someone like Flynn Downes. One of the most passionate of players at a time of really challenges for the club, if McKenna had his hands on him I can only imagine how good he'd be.

To now contradict myself, I did find his play acting and antics frustrating but he's at another club now and if he was doing it for us, I'd have enjoyed it.

Let’s All Take a Deep Breath
at 12:51:57

A great article - well done tractorboykent. Whilst like Meadowlark, I haven't witnessed so many written posts saying we should be top 2 or 6 on TWTD, i've certainly seen it on X and i've heard it at games. I was fortunate enough to be at the Norwich game; I found the tuts, the groans and the complaints deafening. The quality of games for the ticket price has got to be the best in the country - I can't understand why people are so negative when watching football games, it's a countrywide epidemic but at Ipswich, given what we've experienced as a club, I'd expect better of the fans.

At the Norwich game, I was sitting near a young lady who could not hold back her distain for Hirst, declaring how useless he was, when all the while not realising that she was moaning about Broadhead. Either way, she was entirely wrong, but I found that whole moment quite telling of a segment of our fanbase. There were many other incidents of unmerited whinging during the game from other 'fans'.

Fans need to wise-up, if we'd finished fourth from bottom this season that would have been a success. Why people want to turn up in their droves to whinge at the team is beyond me. Stay at home and let the deafening noises from the supporters be that of encouragement and cheering the boys on.

It's the final stretch now - it's going to be a hell of a ride! COYB!!!!

Hutchinson Nominated For Player of the Month
at 09:43:48

I'm a total convert to Omari, I was a naysayer earlier in the season and worried that where he was gaining experience that we were losing from having a more experienced head in his position, who would have less mistakes and better decision making.

Clearly, I was very wrong. This guy has grown and got better with the group. I won't get my hopes up but I could fully see coming back next season. Breaking into the billion pound first team at Chelsea would seem unlikely as they'll put their investments first.

Hutchinson: Important That Us Subs Make an Impact
at 10:03:31

budgieplucker - I was certainly one of those Omari doubters at the start and mid parts of the season, I also harped on about Kyle Edwards. Pleased to see that i'm wrong, the lad has really kicked on. Couldn't believe his energy levels at the end of the match to gas the Brum defence for his goal.

SoCalTownFan - Burns world class? Great player but possibly an OTT assessment!

Mowbray to Step Away From Birmingham to Undergo Medical Treatment
at 13:10:45

I reckon our fans would have sung for Mogga if he was in the dugout anyway, so this only gives greater importance to cheering the great man and having a singsong. When I see the Beattie statue outside the ground, it reminds me of Mogga's headed goal against Barnsley in the playoff final. An ITFC hero.

McKenna: In the First Half Everything That Could Go Wrong, Did Go Wrong
at 23:16:48

Strong words, Sefton Blue. First half not acceptable to you? No passion? I reckon you’re one of the boo boys. Get behind the team, we’re not going to win every game and we’re punching above our weight class - no need to knock them when they drop a ricket.

1960H, I reckon you must be Pep in disguise with the managerial genius like you’ve just shared on here.

Both of you started posts with ‘sorry but’… I’m sorry you can’t take a loss on the chin and enjoy what has been achieved under this regime. Just relax, enjoy the ride and get behind the boys.

A lot more exciting than Sam Gallagher, but in McKenna we trust regardless in our views of signings.

This is a great sign of intent for by club - long term plans and buying potential. Welcome, Ali. Hope your in shape to make some sort of appearance against Preston.

McKenna: I Really Liked the Second Half
at 17:23:39

Those highlighting Woolfy's mistakes - he also covered up for a lot of his team mates mistakes too (Travis, Clarke, Chaplin, probably more). That's the problem being the last line of defence or the goalkeeper - your mistake is highlighted more because he can lead/almost lead to a goal, where with others it's disguised in the build up.

No-one's immune from making an error - everyone on the pitch in every game makes them.

McKenna: I Really Liked the Second Half

As being someone to criticise Omari recently, I thought he was awesome when he came on. Sarmiento did great but Omari showed lots of maturity, vision and positioning that Leicester struggled to contain. Onwards and upwards hopefully.

All the subs put in massive shifts to change that game. Thought Woolfy and Edmundson were great again too.

Charlton Hoping to Complete Ladapo Signing Today
at 11:52:17

Good luck Freddie, did a job when we needed him to but it seems like a happy divorce at this point. Won't get my hopes up, but if that means we're signing someone today that would be a great start to the weekend!

Cardiff Eyeing Tuanzebe
at 17:03:19

@ChampionsofInnsbruck - clearly it's a turn of phrase. Newspapers still want you to engage with their content on other platforms, transfer 'rumours' still achieves this.

Woolfy and Edmundson are first choice for me at the moment, really pleased to see Edmundson back in the team. Woolfy has found some extra gears, probably due to Tuanzebe.

Like many others, I don't think there's much in this. And if there is, I'll have a lower opinion of Tuanzebe's attitude to being in a squad with competition for places. Edmundson shows everyone how it's done!

Mowbray: I Think Stansfield Wants to Stay Here
at 12:39:13

Whilst it's a lot of media spin by Mogga, I do agree with him that if Fulham wanted to flip Stansfield that they'd probably have done it by now. I'm sure Town are focusing on someone that we wouldn't guess, as many have suggested already.

McKenna: It Feels Like a Big Win
at 12:19:40

Well done to all those fans going to Leicester away next Monday, just seen that it's sold out. Whilst not the longest trip, a late Monday evening KO and the game being on TV could have been reason to stay at home. Selling our allocation out week in, week out is super impressive.

Edwards Leaves Town By Mutual Consent
at 15:19:21

@Europablue - I guess some solace is that he came in on free so it was only wages spent but I hear you that we seem to let a lot of players walk away without a fee. He was definitely worth the gamble originally and a shame it didn't work out. Good luck to him.

Edwards Returns From Oxford Loan
at 07:17:54

@ Burosmbuttib, I understand that Omari is in the infancy of his career, hopefully he’ll go onto have a stellar one. I’m of the view that we’re better for him than he is for us - he’s gaining valuable experience in a promotion chasing side, we on the other hand have a player who’s inexperience is costing in the attacking third. I appreciate the gamble of the loan system and often this is the way that what you benefit from in raw talent, you lose in match readiness/ability. Given where we are in the season, that we’ve recently struggled for goals and the chasing pack are virtually on top of us, I feel we can ill-afford to be carrying anyone (lack of better phrase) and when he consistently gives the ball away, takes too many touches or shoots rather than passing to the man in space, someone with a more composed head could be serving us better in those scenarios.

For reference, I’ve never said Omari is a bad player, I totally appreciate his development status, I just feel he’s wasting too many opportunities and someone else (Sarmiento possibly now) could help us more and would have preferred us investing time into our own stock rather than a player that realistically we can’t sign. This is the business end of the season and we can’t afford to miss opportunities.
