| News Comment | Fans Across Globe Set to Meet Up for Blackburn Clash at 13:48:11
Has anyone confirmed previously the game will be shown at Famous 3 Kings? I just called and was told that Hearts v Rangers was going to be on and they couldn't show one more game because the Ice Hockey was on? Seemed a bit surprised that I should request an English Championship Game when there was Scottish mediocracy available.. plan b? |
| Blog Comment | Who Should My Son Support? at 12:20:43
Excellent blog and congratulations to you and yours. I read the first page of responses, and if I'm to be honest, I think I may have read a little between the lines of your blog.. I think you want him to be a Town fan! I'm a third generation Town fan and had been going with my Dad and Grandad since I was 6. Before this I lived in Hampshire, too far away from Town, but the moment we moved more East, I was taken to PR on one of the first weekends we moved and never looked back. It's not a decision (who'd chose it!) it's a birth right, a history, a tradition and I wouldnt have it any other way, despite all the Man Utd and Chelsea fans when I was a kid. It is father-son (or daughter) bonding beyond anything you could ever buy. My Grandad and Father had the Glory days, the highlights you've described - but I still feel a part of that history and pride. I understand your thoughts though, regular football is important - it develops you as a youngster, as a footballer, as a man. Petrol, tickets, beers are all so much more expensive than when I was young, and it's a different world, but can you imagine going to Reading, with your son, as a home supporter? It would feel weird. The best away trip I think I've had was Leeds during the petrol shortage - my dad was determined to go! We went so slowly, so fuel efficiently it must have took an extra hour, but travelling long distances on the motorway, scarf out the window, stopping off for a Burger - it's what Saturdays are about! No matter what team, he will not thank you for it - even if he went Utd, what is the joy, the participation?, he won't thank you when he's older. So, it's decided, he's a Town Fan, welcome to the fmaily little one!! |
| News Comment | Town Topic: Are Town Fans Overreacting to Bad Start? at 10:01:05
They've hit the nail on the head.. 'underperformed last season and at times this season' Don't get me wrong, Im fully against people directly, facelessly absuing players on twitter, re the Tommy Smith tweet. I think Smith is brilliant, Im quite proud of what Chopra is acheiving on a personal level, and I want to love JET.. but we are SECOND FROM BOTTOM.. lifelong fans who have paid their ridiculous salaries have the RIGHT to be unhappy at the situation the Town find themselves in.. Yes, those fans directly 'contacting' the players are massively in the wrong.. but Town fans arent overreacting with regards to the bad start.. it is a bad start, and its the clubs fault as a whole, and we have the right to be disappointed.. |

Interesting comment, you really did get the impression Derbydidn't want him to sign for us? Wish him, luck real shame as think he would, for 3/4m been a great signing. Kind of nice for him to come out and say that. |

Good man.. but really, should there be such things as clean sheet bonuses? With the current climate, and the financial fair play rules coming into play, would be a great time to get rid of these types of bonuses across the league along with agents payments, they're not necessary. I can't see a goalie trying 18% harder to keep a clean sheet if he's getting paid abit more, surely he never wants to concede, same as a striker always wants to score.. |

@walberswick 'Club secretary Sally Webb..' Sorry to pick you out here, but Clegg bashing for the sake of Clegg bashing is also embarrassing. I presume you have a job, I presume you understand how your company structure works. Clegg, is the CEO of Ipswich - the same as the CEO of your co is probably more concerned with the organisational and financial running of your company, safeguarding the assets, your CEO is probably not chosing what channel the TV is on at lunchtime in your office. |

How embarrassing.. Its true Americans can put on a show, and this is where the idea came from, but their cheerleaders are full time professionals, more like acrobatics than just moving in lines and occasionally putting one hand up/down in turn, crucially, they are over 21, ridiculously fit, toned and theres a lot of plastic to them.. English cheerleaders tend to be 15 - nothing worse than watching some fat little talentless chav with a muffin top, moving out of time to stupidly loud music.. Back in the day we used to go grab a cuppa or beer and talk about the game at half time, mabye even give ourselves a little quiz out of the matchday program.. Its simple, reduce the price of pies and pints, get rid of banging music, and everyone will enjoy themselves.. |

Hyam or Smith? I discount Edawrds, I think he only wants to be here because he won't get much of a contract elsewhere and is settled - not disputing he's playing some of his best football right now, but at the end of every season gone he came out with comments like 'didn't try my hardest' (paraphrasing, can't remember what he said exactly) I also unfortunatly think Pablo went through some very lazy periods at the place, i think Kuqi may be more of one for the hero tag |

| News Comment | Jewell Embroiled in Sexism Storm at 10:27:21
Well done for actually reporting the preceding comments Phil, something the press clearly havnt bothered doing as it would put the comment in to context. It clearly wasn't a sexist comment, but a throw away, witty comment in response 'everyone to a man' This is the type of thing anyone at work, in a club, or pub may have said and it be reasonably well received, but no, the media being what they are have to try cook up a storm. PC madness, all fun taken out of football. The press, and Modern football really is a tedious bore at times. |

anyone else get the feeling this is another Drissa Diallo, or George Santos all over again?! (and yes I realise Liz Edwards knows who I am and is watching me closely) These big, solid defenders always seem to be brilliant against us, then complete cack when they join us.. |

Agree above, and some sensible busienss sense from the whole management team. He's barely played (I know he's been injured) and should think what he has now compared to Bohemians. If he can get a better salary sitting on the bench or playing for QPR then good luck to him, but glad to see an end to escalating wages for no reason. Hopefully we'll see the end of this ludicrous 'player has option of third year' in contracts too.. stand your ground Town. Westwood would be an immense signign, very good keeper. |
