Derby Linked With McGoldrick Move
at 10:45:11

This is a RUMOUR in THE SUN... think people may be reading too much into this considering Derby have been linked with most top strikers in the championship. Honestly can't see why they'd spend big money on Murph when they already have very strong forwards in Martin, Bent, weimann and ince, and typically play one upfront anyway.

As much as I'd love to see one or two more signings it seems our main aim for the rest of the window is to keep hold of one or two. Surprises me how readily some fans would get rid of murphy or mcgoldrick, we can replace Mings but would really struggle to replace what those two bring to the team beside goals.

Town Confirm Maitland-Niles Loan
at 15:59:24

Heard good things about this lad. Not sure he'll be a starter, but could be the difference in some games. Very happy with the positive transfer business we've done so far! Still hoping we use the financial position we're in (after selling Mings) to attract a top creative-midfielder and cover at the back - not sure if Clarke is at the level we require yet.

All in all, exciting stuff!

Murphy: We Need to Aim to Win at Blackburn
at 21:04:31

I'm pretty sure MM won't 'go for the win'....find it strange that some fans want us to go all out for a win given whats at stake and the fire power Blackburn possess upfront with 40 goals between Gestede and Rhodes.

I'd be happy with another Wolves job, frustrate them and possibly nick a goal on the break. Its boring and unambitious but the best way to go about playing a team with 2 in form strikers and with the pressure off!

Sears: Scoring Late Winner Was So Special
at 21:27:31

This boys work rate is second to none. Constantly plays on the shoulder of defenders, and packs a cracking finish as well. Hes taken the pressure off Murphs and given us something different - as well as softening the blow of losing mcgoldrick for the 2nd half of the season. Praying we keep him next season, with mcgoldrick fit our attacking roster looks very very strong.

If we achieve the unlikely and get promoted this season - I get the feeling Sears will play a big part in doing so

Fulham Eyeing Ando

Cant fault his worth ethic, decent back up so worth keeping - but then again I wouldnt begrudge him first team action if Fulham offered it. Should be looking at signing a wideman or two in the summer anyway so wouldnt be too surprised to see him go

McCarthy: In Our Hands
at 12:42:04

@WorcesterBlue fair points - I agree that with McG & Bru we naturally play better football. With regards to Bish I don't think he has the legs/power yet to drive forward effectively, you can see he's hitting the gym and becoming more of a force though, hopefully he'll add goals to his game next season, he certainly has the ability.

Personally I think half of our problems come from the back. Smith and Berra are both top defenders, but look so uncomfortable on the ball. Skuse looks comfortable on the ball but does seem reluctant to collect the ball off the defenders - whether this is mccarthys instructions or not is hard to tell.

McCarthy: In Our Hands
at 10:18:37

Surprises me, even knowing what some fans are like, that the majority of fans wanted us to be 'more adventurous'. For me this game was one we couldn't lose, and MM set the team up for that. Going adventurous against a team like wolves we risk being done on the counter - something which wolves are very strong at with Sako and Dicko in wide areas.

I'm not a fan of the football we play but I accepted a long while ago that was the way we were going - and I believe having played that way all season MM has got the best out of our players. I do hold hope that we sign quality in the summer - especially a ball playing CB and a pacey winger. But with 2 games to go I just wish fans would stop banging on about our direct style of play - it clearly will not change this season and personally I don't think we have the ability, especially in defence, to compete football-wise with the best teams in the division.

Town 1-1 AFC Bournemouth - Match Report
at 23:08:28

Just a response to some of the criticism some fans are aiming at Chris Wood. He proved his ability against Watford, held the ball up brilliantly, brought others into play. Since then (and before then) hes only had 10 minute cameos where he hasnt really had a chance to prove himself. Admittedly he hasnt done alot in these cameos but I think its harsh to label him as 'Dead Wood' when the only real chance hes had to prove himself he actually did play very well.

Happy with the Bournemouth result after being largely dominated for 70+ mins, resilient defending and hard working from the front - MM got it spot on! Making the long journey to Huddersfield tomorrow, COYB

Town Win Williams Battle and Also Sign Fryers
at 17:12:34

What a signing! For the first time in a while we look like we've got a strong squad full of strong starters and useful back up, MM may have a selection headache come Bournemouth! The 4-3-3 worked well against Watford but surely have to get Sears/Williams/Bishop back involved if fit? Will be interesting to see what mick goes for!

Watford 0-1 Town - Match Report
at 22:07:49

Not seen many comments regarding Wood who I thought had a cracking game, especially first half, every ball that came to him he brought down and got us playing on the floor. This also meant Murphy went out wide, I think he can be very dangerous down the flanks especially when he cuts in - hes already scored numerous goals this season doing exactly that. Very impressed with Varney as well, looked pacey and hungry, a more effective version of S.Hunt in my opinion. Skuse was the best player on the pitch.

The win takes the pressure off the Bournemouth game - hope we play with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 with Wood and Varney (despite Sears' cameo) against Bournemouth. Similarly to Watford, they will look to get the ball down and control the game, we'll need to pack the midfield. Think Smith and Berra have come up against their hardest challenge in Ighalo/Deeney, Kermorgant/Wilson will definitely provide a tough challenge though.

Finally, I hope people realise how much things will change between now and the end of the season. Lets not get too down and negative when we lose and too over excited when we win! This weekend, along with many, has proven how one game can change the whole outlook, and how 3 points are never guaranteed (i.e. Brentford vs millwall)

McCarthy After Repeat Performance Against Hornets
at 20:44:20

Probably the last place I'd choose to go to right now the way Watford are playing. Even back when we played them their attacking threat was clear to see, we definitely rode our luck at times.

Just hoping we can come out of the next two games still in the mix - I do think we'll need other results to go our way for that to happen though! Huddersfield, Cardiff and blackpool are all very winnable games.

I've tried to stay positive all season but I have to admit a slight feeling of 'rebuild and come back stronger next season' - please prove me wrong town!

Middlesbrough 4-1 Town - Match Report
at 15:58:20

Frustrated, very frustrated. Very strong first half performance but silly mistakes have cost us. I've suggested, like many, that Smith is dropped and Parr brought back in at RB but I don't see this happening purely because its so late on in the season and Parr is probably our best 'winger' atm. Sears looked quiet today, hoping we'll see Mcgoldrick Tues night as another option is needed. I believe Wood is a better player than the Sammon type (i.e. bring him on with 10 mins to go and lump it up to him) but that's the way it seems we'll be using him.

Just to add how good Teddy Bish was today, different class. Praying he stays for next season if we don't make the play offs this time round. We look such a better team with him, Skuse looks more comfortable on the ball knowing he has someone next to him like Bish. Despite Murphys age and the possibility of losing one or two I believe we're building a good squad to have another go next season.

Contrary to popular belief, our season is NOT over. Perhaps if more people got down to PR Tuesday evening we'd stand a chance. Compared to the top teams we cant compete in squad depth and we've been playing above ourselves for some time - but I believe on our day we can compete with anyone and today could have gone completely different.

McCarthy: Didzy Can Still Have Part to Play
at 20:32:42

Interesting dilemma for MM if Didzy does reach full fitness before the end of the season - cant see how we could fit the 3 (with Sears & Murph) in the team, diamond IMO would lack width, we'd need to drop Smith and play Parr and Mings which I can't see happening, if Smith was to be dropped I think it would have been done by now.
Either way we've missed Didzy's creativity in the final third - we do look one dimensional with the balls played down the channels for Sears and Murph.

Town 1-1 Brentford - Match Report
at 11:09:00

Really hope MM or anyone with an ounce of footballing knowledge pays no notice to some of the ridiculous, ignorant, and fickle comments posted on here.

Firstly, Murphy scores that chance, something he would do 9 times out of 10, everyone would be raving about how well we've played. Created a lot of chances against a very good Brentford side. Actually played some decent stuff until we conceded, then inevitably the crowd gets nervous and this filters through to the team - hence we start playing long. Exactly the same happened at Reading at home where we were on top, we concede a lucky goal against the run of play then all of a sudden the crowd starts moaning and players get nervous.

As for 'negative tactics' - a team like Brentford would tear us apart if we played an open game. We needed to be rigid, strong, and quick on the break, which I believe we were. To be fair to most fans I was also miffed by the Sears substitution - perhaps worried by the reaction of taking off our top scorer? And 3 up front would of risked conceding another, something we couldn't afford.

If the rumours are true of MM swearing at some fans, then fair play to him, because several of them deserve it.
