| News Comment | McCarthy: A Strange Feeling at 18:50:35
‘A strange feeling'. And yet here I am again on a Saturday evening with an all too familiar feeling! |
| News Comment | Middlesbrough 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 19:32:20
Yet again we've finished a defeat with 2 defensive midfielders on the pitch. Why, at 2-0 down does Mick always take off the more attacking players, replacing like for like almost, instead of putting an extra forward thinking player on the pitch. At least have a go for christ's sake! |
| News Comment | Aston Villa 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:44:32
Why, at 2-0 down does it take an injury in the 76th minute for McCarthy to stop playing with 2 defensive midfielders? Surely even 1 is too many at that stage! |
| News Comment | Burton Albion 0-0 Ipswich Town - Half-Time at 16:22:28
McCarthy's idea of playing attacking football is to just stick all of his strikers on the pitch at the same time. It's just rediculous, no balance no proper system just get it up front and hope for the best. Starting the game with a 4-2-1-3 system, a system regularly used by no one ever! |
| News Comment | McCarthy: I'd Love Us to Play Nicer, More Attractive Football at 11:18:40
I'm not even sure McCarthy knows how to get a team to play attractive, pass-and-move, attacking football. Time will tell I guess and we'll know in a month or so, but I'm not confident. He's played the same way all of his managerial career, I'm not sure if he's capable of changing now. |
| News Comment | Cardiff City 3-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:05:56
Unbelievable decisions again from McCarthy. Changing the system at half time and putting Lawrence on the left and Ward on the right! Not the best position for either, in fact Ward has been poor when played on the right earlier in the season. And having 2 defensive midfielders in the centre when playing 4-4-2, what planet is he on! And if that wasn't bad enough he leaves it until 10 minutes from the end to make further substitutions, when we were 3-1 down from the 63rd minute. Clueless! |
| News Comment | Milne: We Must Bring Back Younger Fans at 08:50:42
Young people won't come to watch, even for £5, if the same turgid rubbish is being produced on the pitch as the last couple of seasons. They need to be entertained. Get things right on the pitch and the rest will take care of itself. I won't hold my breath. |
| Blog Comment | An Appeal to All Ipswich Town Fans at 13:07:02
Well said! Those that have been so unfairly critical of you will still be renewing their season tickets and 'happy clapping' the rubbish produced on the pitch when we are in league one. |
| Blog Comment | Two Defensive? at 10:37:43
It very much depends on who the defensive midfielders are, what players they have around them and how the manager instructs the team to play within a certain system. Tottenham for example frequently set up with 2 DM's, Dier and Dembele, both capable of bringing the ball out and/or finding a forward pass. They also have very attacking wing backs. It works for them very well. Now I'm not suggesting our players are even close, in terms of class, to those at Tottenham, but MM just doesn't know how to play a 3-5-2 effectively. |
