I have updated the page to accommodate games that were only broadcast live in part, complete with short explanations.

http://ipswich.myclubontv.co.uk

Thanks once again Carberry.

Well how about it... seems like it was.

Here are the Grandstand listings for that day retrieved using the BBC Genome Project. http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/2f2ee1ca926343f6bef53fb9f30eeb48

The site you linked to has been a great source of info during all of this but I didn't spot that one!

If that's the only omission I'll be pleased as it's quite obscure. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll try and shoehorn it in somehow.

As for the Charity Shield game v Forest, quite a few people have flagged that one up - probably under the assumption that it would have been more than anything else. I don't believe it was, though it's probably worth looking into again. Cheers.

I've given the list a bit of a facelift - http://bit.ly/1RaPZJ0

You can now see whether each game was win/lose/draw at a glance and it's even fully responsive!

Right then folks - I've managed to find out all of the details for all of the matches apart from the 1st leg of the play-off semi-final v Charlton in 1998. It was on Sky but don't know which channel. That's all I'm missing! It's bugging me... does anyone recall or have a VHS recording of it somewhere or something? I probably would have recorded over it if I did, though I'm pretty sure I didn't have Sky back then.

As YogiBear pointed out, there was a missing East Anglian Derby game so I've added it in.

The list - http://bit.ly/1RaPZJ0 (just one game marked in red!)

So, the updated overall TV record is:

Played: 145
Won: 53
Drawn: 30
Lost: 62
Goals For: 190
Goals Against: 207
Goal Difference: -17

As alluded to earlier this is all working towards something much bigger than just a list of Ipswich Town games. The current list is hosted on a sub-domain of a website that I will soon be launching.

To answer your question though, all of the things you mention will be possible with what I have in mind. People will even be able to physically add data themselves, for example.

In the meantime, I would say that sharing links to this thread or my online list (which itself links through to this thread) would be a pretty effective way of encouraging people to help out. It's got us this far. We really have gathered an incredible amount of info in a short space of time. Thanks folks!

Just first team matches, yeah.

Our youth team's record on TV doesn't take quite as much working out however!

P2 W1 D1 L0 GF3 GA2 GD+1

@YogiBear Good call. Looks like you're right. I wondered if there were any derby matches we had missed out.

We could yet go the whole calendar year without winning a game on the box. It's not as if we've had a shortage of TV games. Our next TV game is the scene of our last win however so let's hope for the same again.

That's another thing I'll do to the list in time - make it easier to see which games were wins/draws/defeats. Will probably colour code them. For now I'm using it to highlight missing information.

Thanks hoppy & gainsboroughblue although I obviously couldn't have done it without the input of a lot of you folks on here. Thanks to everyone who has contributed.

@hoppy: You're in luck because I did the figures last night. I wasn't going to post them yet but seeing as you ask...

So, assuming that the current list is complete: (which is by no means certain)

---

Technically, we have had 144.25 games broadcast live but seeing as we didn't actually score or concede a goal in the extra-time period v Bolton in 1997 and the fact that it wasn't a full live game - I'll disregard it.

Played: 144
Won: 53
Drawn:30
Lost: 61
Goals For: 189
Goals Against: 205
Goal Difference: -16

Ah, yes. The list was auto-generated from my database so I just copied and pasted it in for ease.

It only displays the results after 90 minutes though and I forgot to manually add in the score after extra-time. Now updated.

I'll try and keep both lists up-to-date but I suggest you folks pay more attention to this one - http://bit.ly/1RaPZJ0

As you can see, there's only a handful of games with missing info (channels) and even that is "nice to have" information.

Seems like the 2-3 home defeat to West Ham in 2001 was on pay-per-view (ITV) and not Sky.

I had totally forgotten about this. I would have bought the game as well 'cause I remember watching it at home.

Correctamundo. Phil actually made reference to this one earlier but I forgot to look it up. Added. Thanks!

I've also managed to find out which channels a whole bunch of games were on. Not many left to solve now.

Apologies, I somehow missed your earlier post.

You're right, it was - http://www.thefreelibrary.com/FOOTBALL%3A+IPSWICH+v+C+PALACE+live+on+Sky+Sports+

Thanks, I'll get this added.

So how does it work when games like Brighton at home this season are broadcast abroad? They tend to be the games that are featured on the Football League Show, or Football League Tonight as it is now. Does the UK highlights programme nominate which games cameras are taken to and the foreign broadcasters make use of it or vice versa?

Incidentally, I am only intending on listing games that are legally broadcast in the UK.

@The_Last_Baron I'll make arrangements for a fight between you and those that are saying it was on Sky as a means of settling this one.

Are you talking about the original match at Molineux or this one (the replay)?

Found a couple of full-length matches on YouTube:

1999 - Swindon (A) W 4-1 -

2001 - Aston Villa (A) L 2-1 -

Curiously, when you do a video search on Google a lot of TWTD articles are returned in the search results.

It hadn't even occurred to me to think of non-first team matches but yes, you're right they were on Sky.

Yes, I've seen that site and has proved a great source of info even if it does hurt my eyes!

It helped me remember the ITFC games shown on Anglia in the 95/96 season.

@hoppy Yes, I thought the FA Cup game v Southampton in 1999 was on the BBC but it's not featured on that night's listings - so again, must've been a Sky game?

@CapelBlue You're quite right. Nice one. I can't believe it hadn't already made its way onto the list. I remember it. Here's a video clip - http://www.itnsource.com/en/shotlist/ITN/1998/04/28/BSP280498039/?s=ipswich%20su

Must have been Sky then. And given the fact that Sky Sports 2 wasn't launched until August of that year, it would have been plain ol' Sky Sports.

Thanks!
