Town Announce New £105m Investment From Bright Path Sports Partners
at 19:17:19

Realist - if you watch the announcement video, the £105m is explicitly explained as being investment raised into the club, not a sale by our current owners. That says to me that our owners are being diluted down to 60% by the new investors at a valuation of £260m (although that may not be the right number depending on the make of the investment), rather than selling their shares.
This money is cash to invest over time in the club. Happy days.
Given the club's position (potential, and losses funded in the last 2 years), I expect new investment from somewhere was a necessity.
There may be many reasons why the Arizona Pension Fund didn't follow its original investment with more money - it may be that they have their own internal restrictions which made that undesirable, who knows. From my perspective, having more than one professional investor in the club is a good thing, meaning deeper pockets, and makes little difference - they are both relying on the same management team, and will make decisions professionally.

Town Announce New £105m Investment From Bright Path Sports Partners
at 22:20:51

Van_Blue if that is the situation, that Bright Path have invested in new shares to dilute ORG, no cash out, and (if I read it right) the other shareholders have invested alongside, I am delighted - that should give us the resources to invest in the club, invest in the squad and compete however things turn out. I know there is often scepticism about professional investors, but that is what we have had in ORG - in stark contrast to Marcus Evans, they have brought in and backed a strong and experienced management team, and together have made disciplined decisions based on a plan, and we have all seen the benefits of that. Unlike some other more high profile owners, they leave the running of the club and football decisions to management. Whether or not we get promoted this season, I think we can be very excited for the future

Burgess Wins Cap as Socceroos Beaten at Wembley
at 23:09:40

Congratulations to Burgess, who did himself proud. Frankly, Southgate's teams have for some time displayed everything that is wrong about out of date, slow, defensive football - ironically whilst having pretty much the most talented squad of players in the world to use. It is in stark contrast to the fantastic fast, free-flowing, brave football being played by McKenna's Ipswich. Southgate has only done well by being given the best squad of players in decades to manage, and has wilted when the chips were down. What a waste.

Wycombe, Aberdeen and Plymouth Join El Mizouni Chase
at 22:11:54

I agree PortmanT, the team improved so much after Luongo took over in midfield alongside Morsy. Evans, not sure. Camara has potential but for us is still an unknown quantity, Ball looked a poor replacement, Humphreys probably has potential. But I think maybe we will hang on to El Miz, he also has potential to step up having had such a good season.
But who knows who else is on the radar. Very exciting times!

McKenna Delighted For El Mizouni
at 22:14:18

What a great thought it is that all of the many squad and recruitment decisions for this summer and moving up to the Championship are going to be made by such a good management team and such a good manager. Happy days!

Ipswich Town 6-0 Exeter City - Match Report

Would have given anything to be at Portman Road today. Brings back memories of glory days. It is amazing to see what sensible investment, great club management, a fantastic team manager and a well assembled and coached team can achieve.
The lovely thing is that we are such a good footballing team, it has been such a pleasure to watch them in Ipswich and online over the last 2 or 3 months. I have such high hopes for this team in the Championship. It will be fascinating to see what changes are made to the squad in the Summer. For me, keep almost everyone, get Hirst in!
Enjoy the celebrations!

Fans Urged to Stay Off the Pitch
at 23:36:15

I know everyone would be excited, and want to celebrate - but it is the players and manager that have got us here. They have just delivered the most incredible run of results to achieve this, practically the best in the club's history. Do them the courtesy of allowing them to celebrate on the pitch and do a lap of honour, which everyone gets to enjoy. If you all head on the pitch, they will head off

Ipswich Town 6-0 Charlton Athletic - Match Report
at 19:03:22

Fantastic result and performance, against what is really a pretty decent League One side. Shows how much we missed Broadhead against Cheltenham.
5 huge games left. We desperately need to win promotion now to keep these players at Ipswich, they have shown what they can do and clubs in higher leagues will be queuing up if we are still in League One come the end of the season.
I do think we can do well with this squad in the Championship if we are successful.
Everything crossed. Just keep it up!

McKenna: Conditions Made a Tough Game Even Harder
at 22:49:15

All sensible stuff as usual from KM. Maybe not quite as strong a performance as some, but frankly we dominated the game from start to finish, created a lot of opportunities and limited Cheltenham to very little - they scored what was in fact a very fortunate goal.
I know it was a frustrating finish.
But another day Hirst's shot would have slammed into the net off the crossbar, and we would be celebrating another efficient victory.
The team have had a magnificent few weeks, and I fully expect them to carry that through to the rest of the season.
So put your negative thoughts behind you, and bring on Charlton.

Derby County 0-2 Ipswich Town - Highlights

It is interesting that none of the Derby players argue about the ref's decision, they knew what the plan was - you watch their no 15 take out Burgess, he runs from the edge of the box and does it very deliberately, which makes the header possible

Barnsley Spurn Chance to Close in On Blues After Defeat at Exeter
at 22:21:56

It was amazing to watch some of the Barnsley Wednesday game the other week - both sides hoofing it endlessly down the pitch.
Well, both have now lost to relatively poor sides. Astounding that Wednesday could lose to Forest Green, we all saw Ipswich take them to the cleaners recently at Portman Road.
Maybe everything is opening up for us. I really believe we have the quality and discipline to take advantage,

Cotterill: Strongest Team We've Played This Season
at 22:23:12

It seems to me that one of the biggest challenges for a League One side like us, when you have money to invest, is treading the line between building a side to get out of this league, and putting one together which can compete in the Championship.
What I really like about KM and the management is that they have brought in players with excellent ball skills and pace, and in many cases with size and strength, all complemented by excellent management and tactical strength - this is what Cotterill sees in saying we are the strongest team they have played. It has a good blend to get us out of this league.
He is also right to beg the question, how would we fare against Championship sides, and of course that will be a challenge. But I think this team could actually fare even better in that league, with better quality officials and playing competitively against teams which are not leaving 10 men behind the ball for most the game.
It is such a difficult blend to achieve, but I really see a great mix in the current side, especially with the new January signings.
Top marks KM and the whole team. An incredible run of clean sheets, a great run of wins. I look forward to seeing it continue.

Ipswich Town 3-0 Accrington Stanley - Match Report
at 23:30:01

Albeit against weaker opponents, we have won the last few games convincingly. These were the sort of games we have struggled with at times this season. Defensively we look much more solid, and I like the look of Harry Clarke, strong and quick.
Some very shrewd additions in the January window have transformed the look of the team and its balance - our midfield and attack, stronger, more threatening - and great to see a wonderful ball in behind for the first goal and lovely direct skills from Broadhead making the second.
The team must carry a lot of confidence into the next few games. Really excited to see how we compete with some of the better teams in the division, and I feel a new sense of belief as we go into them.

FA Release Written Reasons For Owls' Wing-Back Johnson's Ban
at 22:30:44

This particular situation must be very unusual. However, all of these matches are filmed, and it must be possible to have a method of rapidly looking back at an incident, for a fourth official to check. Perhaps there are a small number of possible incidents, like this one, where justice is only done by referring to a swift check, in this case for identity, which would allow for the right thing to be done at the time. There's a suggestion for the FA/EFL.
