| News Comment | Ipswich Town 4-3 Rotherham United - Match Report at 22:28:12
On a positive aside from the win we are 18 points clear of 7th. Who would have believed that at the start of the season with 13 games to play. Incredible! Horrible game tonight but somehow we came through it! Keep it going lads and you never know ! |
| News Comment | New Kits Fastest-Selling in Town History at 17:03:03
In life, you will never please everyone and we all have a right to our own opinion... however, record sales do rather indicate what side the majority sit. Personally, I love everything about this club right now, the manager, the team, Mark Ashton, the owners, the ground redevelopment, the support of the MND Foundation and the local community in general (even though I live in Sussex) and I LOVE both the kits.... I really can't wait for the start of the season to see how this team gets on at Championship level.... Bring it on! |
| News Comment | Bracknell Town 0-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 23:53:38
Just back from the game. What a fabulous occasion for Bracknell. A decent little non league ground, good fans and I thought their team deserved a lot of credit. Don't get to see many games these days so it was the first time I have watched many of these players in blue - the stand out to me was Cameron Humphries - what a classy composed player he is with a little bit of grit - one of the Bracknell lads singled him out too - I just hope we keep hold of him for a few years. Fab night even though the performance was not amazing it was a professional job in difficult conditions - next ! |
| News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-0 Bristol Rovers - Match Report at 22:06:05
Did what was needed tonight. Walton made a couple of big saves at crucial times but for me the MOM was Evans - absolute class tonight. Spent most of the game worried Morsy would get a second yellow but we move on to a big weekend in the division with 6 of the top 7 playing each other then two more key top of the table games. We will then know a lot more. Can't wait COYB |
| News Comment | Blues Travel to Millwall With New Season Only a Week Away at 16:36:07
@bazza8564 I agree regarding those core players that are likely to be playing most weeks however I do wish a centre forward was also a nailed on starter as we need consistancy up top too. I always think the spine is key and we are almost there !! Remains to be seen if Ladapo or JJ are the answer - I hope so ! |
| News Comment | Town Confirm McKenna Appointment at 09:33:34
I like many am in the “well why the hell not camp”. The last few managers for whatever reason have not worked so am happy that we go down this route and hope for the best. Speaking to a Man Utd fan (from the northwest) he was not too complimentary and referred to the Utd sideways passing at the back and to the continual selection of Fred. Now while we won't get the “joy” of seeing Fred in a town shirt I do hope we don't go down this messing around at the back which seems to be the craze…. Well not with our current crop of players anyhow! I am cautiously optimistic which i think is the best I can muster just now given how disappointed I am with how things have gone this season…. I wish he was straight in now and not after Sunderland but it is what it is. I wonder what he will do about Bonne? Key decision that one especially given his current form. COYB |
| News Comment | Manager Cook Sacked at 15:14:53
I am sorry Cook has gone - it was never, despite the money, going to be easy to turn the ship around. I would have written off the season and given him till early next season but the owners clearly want results now which is their perogative. I just hope we don't turn into another Watford and start hiring and firing and not giving managers time. Am confused as to who we should now hire - I think the Plymouth guy make be just going through a good spell but is it starting to go wrong ? Appleton - dunno he does not inspire me. Lampard - expensive and yet to prove himself as a manager. Rooney - errr no!! Carrick - possibly but would he want it? Nuno - would he drop to L1 and want to start another project like he did at Wolves, McGreal, Butcher, Burley, Steve Bruce, .... who else - someone suggested the Leipzig guy? Its going to be really interesting to see who they choose and whether they tend to play two up front and have plan B's, assistants, defensive coaches bla bla ! I guess time will tell ! COYB !! |
| News Comment | Cook: Plymouth Are a Very Strong Team and We’ll Have Our Hands Full at 11:17:48
Gutted I cant be there this afternoon. I remember being at Plymouth back in 1989 in an open stand behind the goal when we won 1-0. Am really pleased to see Plymouth doing well and would love them to go up..... with us of course. Today will be tough and until we know who is out injured its tough to call.... can't wait though ... thanks to the new owners, management and players I have the excitement back on a Saturday again - COYB |
| News Comment | Cook: Defensively Toto's Among the Best in the Division at 11:20:01
Yes he makes mistakes but he plays with heart and aggression and we need that. I always remember a young Titus Bramble was always prone to an error a game - every central defender at this level makes mistakes - even premier league look at John Stones. I think the key point in this article is how more assured Toto might be with Morsy in front of him. I am hoping it makes the difference we desperately need in shoring up the back! Cook is searching for that formula … if he does not find it the January transfer window is not far away. COYB |
| News Comment | Cook: As Complete a Performance as We've Had This Season at 09:07:53
Fantastic performance last night - I thought Donacien was excellent along with many others. We are entering a huge stage of the season with some massive games from now until the end of the year..... in contrast to recent seasons can we now be a team that turns over the teams at the top of the league as that is what we will need to do to push on. Was mortified after Cambridge and ecstatic tonight - thats football I guess but roll on the next 8/10 weeks and lets get ourselves in with a shout come January. COYB |
| News Comment | Cheltenham Town 2-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:06:04
Am in shock at our poor second half display and how we lost that game. What worries me the most is the lack of shots on target and the defensive lapses in concentration that are costing us. As a positive I thought Burgess had a good game and Harper and Edwards a good first half but it's a game of 90 mins. Two home games now to get our season up and running. We can turn this around but it will take time however pressure is now mounting! COYB |
| News Comment | Town Confirm Pigott Signing at 19:12:56
Having been at Wembley last night I needed a lift today and this has certainly improved my mood. Well done team in securing this especially without the leaks and to Phil for also keeping it quiet…. Like many suggest I think a strong centre half and some width to feed the pig is needed next but I have every confidence in this regime to deliver when the time is right. COYB |
| News Comment | Blues Legend Mariner Dies at 09:48:01
Despite not living in Suffolk or anywhere near, the guys that represented town in that 78 final are the reason I have supported Ipswich to this day and always will. Paul Mariner was one the very best amongst a team of greats. He was the player I always imagined myself as, scoring the goals in the park between those jumpers as goalposts. Really so very sad he has passed away but as we get older we learn to reflect on the good times at moments like these and Paul gave us so many… what a player! RIP Paul - one of my sporting hero's from the good old days when football was my everything. |
| News Comment | Drinan Joins Leyton Orient at 18:24:01
Holy cheeseballs - an undisclosed fee for Drinan is without doubt the best business we will do all summer …. Incredible …. Well done all involved ! COYB!! |
| News Comment | Blues Again Linked With Crewe Wideman at 09:08:49
If PC wants him in this slimmed down squad of better quality players then let's spend the money and get him in especially given the positive £££ business done so far. COYB |
| News Comment | Drinan Set For Orient at 09:00:15
The effort was there but the quality was nowhere near what was or is required so best moved on…. |
| News Comment | Harper Signing Confirmed at 19:36:44
Great news..... after last season my god it's an exciting time to be a town fan. Keep them coming PC ...the majority of us are with you on this journey! |
| News Comment | Johnson: We’re Keeping About 10 Per Cent of the Squad at 22:28:07
I'd be fine with that if 2.5% of them was not Aaron Drinan !! Joking apart which I kind of am...or am I.... I am all for the complete clearout. Last season was the worst in living memory and I am no spring chicken so for me its exactly what we need... COYB |
| News Comment | Dozzell's QPR Move Confirmed at 22:24:14
Given the season he had with a lack of goals, persistant fouls, his apparent lack of energy and generally how lightweight and easily brushed off the ball he was, I am delighted with 1 million and the sell on. Win win !! There is potential in him and Warburton could find it so will be an interesting watch but we move forward ! |
