Town Closing in On Loan Signing of Blackburn Skipper Travis
at 10:15:27

Surely this is being viewed as a two fold win. Firstly, a direct backup for Morsy which is something that nobody else in the building seems capable of, and secondly it allows us to send Humphreys out to get some real game time under his belt, which he desperately needs right now. He is also hopefully more mobile than Ball, who disappointingly looked a good 2 yards too slow for this league in the QPR game.
All in all, another astute piece of thinking by the management team in my humble opinion.

Pessimistic - he got old, like we all have, and his priorities changed. It's no slight on his abilities.

So ITFCSERBIA, that means there will be no coverage for uk residents at weekends at all, meaning you will see more games than I can. There is nothing in the 5.99 package about showing coverage, only commentary, which I can get for nothing on local radio. My point still stands, £20 per month is cheaper than £10 per game was.

If I am reading the details on the official website properly, it appears that the international subscribers are getting a better deal than the UK ones. For 19.99 a month you are getting live coverage of every match included, except where we are shown live - at 40+ games for £200 (10 months subs) that's £5 per game. UK price of £5.99 does NOT include ANY live coverage, so we would still have to pay £10 extra for every game we watch !!

Fans Urged to Stay Off the Pitch
at 19:53:13

Oh, one more thing for the less observant - Wrexham are Non League, so do fall under the remit of EFL rules yet.
Would you prefer us to play at that level ?? Just so you can run onto the pitch ?!?!?!
Here's a thought, go join a Sunday morning team, get a bit of exercise AND you can run all over a football pitch to your hearts content every week !!!

Fans Urged to Stay Off the Pitch
at 19:40:26

Why am I not surprised that the same bile filled voices all season are now advocating a pitch invasion ?! Just because we haven't fallen apart as you predicted, you want to sabotage our potential promotion by getting points deducted !!
And for those that are deluded enough to say they can't ban 1000 fans - why not ?? The demand for tickets is such that they could sell your seat 3 times over at the moment, so don't think for one second you are indispensable!
I have been a North stander all my life, since the days when we stood in cages to keep the morons where they were supposed to be - you have no idea how lucky you are to be a supporter in these times. Grow up and stop trying to send us back to the dark ages.

Turnstile Change For Sir Bobby Robson Stand
at 11:49:55

@churchmans - have you ever tried to buy a lower tier ticket in the Bobby Robson stand ???? There aren't any !
This will also stop people from socialising with their friends in the bars before the game or at half time, which I don't suspect the club has bothered to think about either. That will lead to them drinking somewhere else (lost revenue) and then turning up last minute, making the queues worse rather than better.
Where was the consultation on this ITFC ???? So much for fan engagement !

AFC Wimbledon 0-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 14:33:29

Having used iFollow for the first time last night, and in response to some of the "interesting" opinions above, for what it's worth here is mine:-
Let's start by reminding everyone that this was an opposition who had only lost twice at home this season, and conceded very few goals considering where they are in the league. Defensively, Walton and his back 3 were sound - all won most of their individual battles against very different small and nippy players than they have been up against recently - Edmundson's distribution wasn't perfect, but all were solid.
The midfield did ok - Bakinson has only had 2 training sessions at most with us, and had never played with any of the 3 in front of him, so in my mind has done well out there for 90 minutes. He showed flashes of quality distribution and was always available, also getting forward on occasions. What I don't think he can do is play alongside Carroll - they are too much alike, good on the ball, but lightweight in a battle. Pair him with Morsy, Evans or even El Mizouni and I think he will shine. Once he does, Carroll won't get a game because he will be a younger, fitter, more agile version, with height to boot.
Burns was class again, showing why he was so badly missed when injured. However, the other side is a problem. KVY has no left foot, keeps cutting and passing backwards stopping the momentum of attacks, even when Edmundson had gone past him ! His final delivery is also lacking when he does get into good positions. Personally, the way we are playing, I would give Kyle Edmunds a chance out there - early in the season he showed he could get back and help out defensively when needed, has real pace to match Burns on the other side, and has much more forward intent than the other options.
Talking of forward intent - Aluko is fast becoming undropable. He has energy and enthusiasm when closing down, much like Norwood, but also quality and time when on the ball to hold onto it and find the right pass. Unlike one comment on here I think he would be completely wasted stuck out wide now - he is so good at finding gaps in crowded areas.
Norwood worked hard as usual, but did not get much help with Jackson not seeming to know where he should be and mostly hugging the left touchline. There also wasn't many crosses into the right areas for Norwood to latch onto - his spin and pass for the opening goal showed good awareness. Jackson ran a lot and showed some good movement, but was rarely seen or picked out. His quality when he did get the ball was mostly lacking though.
Subs came on and did their jobs, helping to see the game out and give us a little more control, although I don't think Celina is comfortable with his new instructions - he seemed a bit headless chicken in trying to contribute to the closing down, and his tackling needs a lot of work.
Overall a solid, if unspectacular, display. We take the 3 points and move on - one more game down and still 15 points to play with (if we drop 15 points between now and the end of the season we finish on 80, which is more than enough to make the playoffs - I am watching this, not the league position, as that will fluctuate too much along the way).

Lankester Set For Cambridge as Clubs Agree Deal
at 17:50:09

@Reuserscurtains - if that is the attitude, then why have an Academy at all !?!?!?!?! It is a hugely expensive exercise.

The only way we are going to see top quality players at Portman road in the next few years is if we develop them ourselves. We will always have issues encouraging the best players to this part of the country - even in the "good old days" we couldn't compete, let alone now we are languishing in the depths of Tier 3 of the pyramid. Even with the "new money" we are still seeing players picking other teams in more populous areas, as much for the lifestyle as the football.

Not so long ago we were producing players that Man City and Arsenal were snapping up - the youth coaching hasn't changed much, if anything it should have improved with Dyer involved, so there has to be some gems hiding in there somewhere. they just need the right education and a manager who believes in them.

I am in full agreement with the process taking place in so far as cleaning out those players with the wrong attitude and those who have consistently let us down and become "comfortable". What I do NOT agree with is throwing the Babies out with the bath water !

Town Closing in On Fleetwood Forward Burns
at 14:01:45

@cornishblu - if you read the article properly you would see that is a right sided winger or wing-back, NOT a central striker.
If he contributed 8 goals from those positions, along with numerous assists, he would easily be an upgrade on any player that has represented the club in those positions over the last 3 (maybe even 6 !) seasons !

Keeper-Coach Walker Leaves Town

On the subject of John McGreal - loved him as a player here, but why do we need him when we already have one of the best central defenders who ever played for us in building ?? Surely we should be better utilising Terry Butcher's defensive skill and knowledge with the first team !!

Keeper-Coach Walker Leaves Town
at 13:48:04

@Cheshire_blue - if you truly believe that Chambers will be playing at a better level than us next season, then you really do need to take off those (very dark) blue tinted spectacles and take a proper look at what has been happening on the pitch these last 18 months. The man has lost his engine, his pace and his appetite for the fight - sadly without losing his influence on the rest of the team, who appear to have picked up on his lethargy and copied it.
I have never bad mouthed any player on this, or any other, site, and I don't intend to start now.......BUT every player needs to assess and understand when their time is up (for me it was at the age of 49, but that was at a much lower level !), and I believe that the longer he tries to stick around, the more damage he will do to his reputation and standing at the club.
McCarthy hounded himself out with his attitude towards the end, to a point where there was no turning back. In 5 years time, If the new owners get this club back to where it belongs, everyone will see that separation as the right thing to have done - historic perception is usually based on current situation.
I would implore you, and every true Ipswich Town fan, to stop living in the past and get behind what is happening here and now - these are exciting times, new owners, new(ish) manager, and they need every ounce of our support to drag this once great club back from obscurity to rise again............like a Phoenix ?!?!

Downes: We Should Be Winning Games Like This Easily, It's Not Good Enough
at 11:37:20

@arc - that was exactly my first thoughts !
Downes is one of the better members of this shambles, but he seems to have also had his ego pumped to the point where they think they can walk over teams just because of the name on the badge. Football - and all sport for that matter - doesn't work like that. If it did there would be no point in even taking the field as we would always know the result before it started !!
Every game, every point, has to be fought for and earned. That's the same at any level of the sport. These really are basic principles that these players should have grown up understanding.
This is something Cook needs to drum into those that he wants to keep, otherwise this attitude will persist into next season and spread to new players that arrive, and we will be no further forward.

Cook: We're a Million Miles From a Good Team, Supporters Must Be Tired and Bored By Now
at 11:23:27

Honest assessment by Cook, as many have mentioned. Fans need to stick by him and let him build his team - he has a track record of putting good teams together and getting them playing well. You cannot be saying you want him to completely ditch this team and then only give him til October to get a completely fresh set of players gelling seamlessly - even Klopp coudn't do that in that timeframe !!!
As for those who are complaining about being called the Tractor Boys - please come up with something more identifying and imaginative than the TOWN !! that really sets us apart doesn't it !?!?!? There are only another 50 Towns in the leagues !! sounds like you are stuck in the Sixties !

Town Takeover Completed
at 14:11:49

Additionally, investments made by these companies are known to have a shelf life of between 5 and 10 years, depending on the level of returns, so although they may not need to see instant success, they will not hang on to us if they do not start to see a return around the 5 year mark.

Town Takeover Completed
at 14:01:04

I hate to put a dampener on the party so soon - and I hope as much as the next Town fan that this turns out to be our Man City moment - but having dug into the depths of the all seeing WWW, I have found mention of this Ed Schwartz on the PRPRS Investments site ( These are the people that run the Pension fund that the money is coming from) - he is their Consultant from ORG Real Property who "Advises on Real Estate" ?!?!?! Are we now classed as Real Estate ?!?!?!?! I am no expert, but my understanding is the only piece of Real Estate owned by ITFC is the training grounds.
On a slightly brighter note, this PRPRS oversees an enormous pot of gold totaling nearly $15 Billion, which includes $1.6 billion in Diversification Strategies (non-standard investments, which I assume we would fall under) and nearly $900 million in unallocated Cash, so there does appear to be plenty of available funds if they are willing to invest it in us.

Ipswich Town 2-0 Rochdale - Match Report
at 14:55:15

Not sure why everyone thinks these were easy fixtures. Bristol took a draw out of Sunderland, Rochdale did the same to Portsmouth, and Wigan won away at Portsmouth yesterday (the first time Portsmouth have lost at home in 17 months !!). The lads have managed to dispatch all three teams without conceding, played some good football (which we have all been complaining about not seeing enough of over the past 3 seasons !), and everyone is contributing.
I think, whatever league you are in, there is no such thing as an easy game, and the professional way the team have approached all three shows a level of focus and determination that we have not seen in a while. Lambert also appears to be making good in-game decisions and adjustments at last.
My advice to everyone - stop worrying about what may or may not happen when we play a "big team" - live in the here and now, enjoy seeing your team winning and get behind the lads.
Well done ITFC on a great start to the season - keep working hard, and long may it continue. COYB.
