Keane Speculation Starts Again
at 09:17:34

Whatever we all think and whatever the Press (very of whom RK would call friends) may say the fact of life is that Mr Evans owns the club and the decisions on whether to sack RK or stick with him will be down to whatever is best for Mr Evans business interests which, one would hope are to see ITFC as a very successful football club.
Personally I was surprised but not very happy that RK had appointed because we as supporters are accustomed to be the underdog who shuns the spotlight but speaks with performances on the field and not in the Press box. I would normally feel more than a bit sorry for RK the way the scum Press are on his case but as it can be sen he can more than hold his own in the verbal stakes and must be thick skinned - looking at his history as a player.
I hope whatever Mr Evans does is good for ITFC but I fear that persisting with RK will mean a long and tortuous climb (or maybe even relegation) but we have to hope.

Keane Speculation Starts Again

The use of homegrown talent seemed to end during the Burley era although to be blunt BFJ only played the youngsters because he had no cash to spend so Ambrose & Bent flourished.
Jim had cash to spend and spent it = not necessarily wisely & I for one feel the team was generally worse at the end of Jims reign than it was when he took over.
As for RK well - the jury is still out; totting it up he has spent circa £10 Mill put that with the circa £12 that Jim spent and the total is £20 mill + makes it one of the most expensive teams in the division BUT for what you see on the field of play you would not think that - would you?
I agree with Bluedandy - we are too close to the relegation zone for comfort and give too much away, on a regular basis, to look like we are a team that will steadily climb rather than stay struggling.
Unless Mr Evans has told RK he has a whole bunch of cash for the future and the future is buy instead of grow we have to rely on Sammy Morgan to produce - so why did Brian Klug go ?

Fifties Town Keeper Dies

It is a conundrum = given RK's stated target of promotion within 2 years he has essentially 1 and a half seasons to accomplish it. This should dictate who he brings in and while I was never a fan of BFJ he did bring in some very canny signings who did the job at the time. But I fear that had BFJ managed to get through any one of the play-offs to go up there would never have been the money to build a premiership team nor the time. This means RK has to build a team not only capable of gaining promotion but also one that can stay there. On the basis of what we have seen this season it appears to be a very tall order AND we have to recognise that RK has already spent a fair bit of money already, couple that with what Magilton spent and, in reality not only are Town one of the divisions big spenders but for that amount of investment the returns should be visible and Town should already have the basis of a premiership team. Am I alone in not seeing anything like the value we should see for the money spent.
The task ahead then is surely not just to find a striker but to establish the foundations of a team capable of winning the division then staying in the upper echelon. Personally I do not see this being done with journeymen because A/ they will be too costly or B/ getting near their 'sell-by' date.
It is not going to be easy and I feel some well loved 'stars' will be departing to make way (and make affordable) the players who come in. I don't think the journey to the premiership has started yet and where the players are going to come from who will start that journey and see it through is, I believe one of the toughest tests which peronally I am not sure RK is the man to lead us.

I agree with almost everything in the original blog.
I would like to add that I am not an RK fan because i think the way he conducted himself on the field as a player and in walking out on both Eire & Sunderland showed himself to lack both professionalism and self control.
I was surprised at his appointment at ITFC and am sure in the days of Mr John he would not even made it to the short list of candidates.
But he is here and Manager until Mr Evens or one of his go-fers sacks him so I support him as well as I can .
Having said that I do feel that the fare being dished up by RK's selected team is the worst I have ever seen from a Town team, it is bad to the point of being embarrassing e.g the Newcastle game when Town looked like a non league team.
There is a way tog & RK promised to take Town up NEXT year not this.
I can accept that but find it hard to accept that he can turn things round with the current team OR what he is likely to be able to persuade to come to PR.
It is a long and winding road , I have come to the conclusion RK should NOT be taking us along it.
