Woody Not Out of Favour
at 13:19:55

Has it occurred to anyone that may be he isn't training very well and therefore MM is giving those that do the hard work off the pitch the game time?

Saying he isn't out of favour could MM's way of trying to offer reassurance that if he puts the effort in then he will be given the opportunities his talent suggests he deserves.

Just a thought.

Town Confirm Nouble Signing
at 17:39:27

Its good to see a permanent signing and someone that is young and hopefully can prove himself under MM where he couldn't at previous clubs. If it doesn't work out, frankly I couldn't care as cannot be worse than some of the others we have within the club already.

I would also like to add that Clegg and Evans haven't been given enough credit for what has happened over the last couple of months. It wasn't so long ago that Clegg in particular was being berated for being the reason signings fell through and ITFC not being attractive as a club to potential players.

Clegg and Evans made the decision and secured the deal to bring MM to the club. MM in turn is doing his bit on and off the field and is clearly being supported in the transfer market. I think they should both get more credit for this than they have, so well done.

Looking forward to seeing who signs next.

McCarthy: Chopra One of the Best Players Here
at 13:28:03

When Chopra was scoring goals for Cardiff, I seem to remember he played alongside Jay Bothroyd (6'3") and Peter Whittingham was in the team.

PJ decided to play Chopra up front on his own with a midfield who are incapable of playing the telling pass.

And everyone wonders why he can't score! Seems similar to playing a winger at right back and then wondering why they are rubbish at defending.

If MM can sort those elements then may be he is right and Chopra will again prove to be a goal scorer at this level.

Doesn't mean I like him, but we should still support him until he is no longer our player.

Rower Williams Joins Staff
at 19:03:04

Steve Williams made a presentation at an event I attended a couple of years ago. He explained the lengths he and his fellow rowers went to in order to win their golds and if just 10% of this committment and desire rubs of on the players at ITFC this will be a brilliant appointment.

Town Move for Five - Three From Pompey
at 11:45:08

I've just put a bid in for 5 players on ITFC's behalf.

Alves and Pique from Barcelona, total bid £9.86.
Gomez, Bayern Munich and Cavani from Napoli, total bid £6.32

And to add a bit of age and goal keeping skill I have offered £0.13 to tempt Neville Southall out of retirement.

All bids apart from the one for Neville have been turned down, but I'm still hopefull as the first bid is always turned down.

Jewell: Town Can't Feel Sorry for Themselves at Birmingham
at 15:36:25

Whats goign on! The club states there will be signings by a particular date and miraculously they don't happen.

Can't see St.Ledger signing and we will end up late in the window, panic buying some injured, OAP centre backs who serve no purpose to anyone.

Unfortunately I can't see us getting a result tonight.

Swansea Set to Move for Andrews
at 17:54:56

I don't want to see either go, but if they do I am sure suitable replacements will be found.

I also don't really get all the comments about the number of loan players and not planning for the future. Has it occured to anyone that PJ may have tried to sign permanent players over the summer and for whatever reason he couldn't attract the quality he required. His only solution was to therefore fill the gaps by taking loanees until such a time permanent signings could be found i.e. January.

Many on here clearly believe PJ can just pick up the phone and recruit cheap, young, talented players who are desperate to play for ITFC who no other team has spotted.

In the real world this isn't the case and PJ needs to continue his search and I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of permanent signings in the new year followed by some more loans. This combined with youngsters breaking through into the 1st team will mean by the end of the season the team will be about built for next season bar one or two extra signings over the summer.

Town to Assess Sonko Before Making Trip to North-West
at 14:13:18

Alfromcol - I for one agree with what you have said and do get rather bored of reading the doom and gloom comments that are published daily.

As I understand it, we have a game in hand over many of the teams above us and the next three matches should all offer possible wins. If we can't get points in these three matches then may be a will change my mind, but at the moment am trying to stay positive.

The defence is still the biggest worry and I do hope Sonko is back tomorrow.

For whatever reason, Jewel wasn't able to sign quality centre backs in the summer and lets hope he has more luck in January. Assuming he does then I am sure the New Year will offer much better results.

New Scouts Targeting Youth and Pace
at 13:28:13

I notice various comments being made about PJ trying to seek something that we already have in the club. Therefore, begs the question why these wonderfully talented young players already at the club aren't playing.

Despite what people may think, PJ does know what he is doing and has proved this at previous clubs (not Derby, before people comment). Therefore, there must be a reason with each young player as to why they aren't getting games.

Carson obviously annoyed PJ by not coming back fit enough from the summer break and the rest must have similar problems or PJ doesn't feel they are up to it.

With Cresswell, PJ has shown he is happy to include youngsters in the team if they are A)Good Enough and B)Show the desire to play for the club and give 100% every match they play. He has also shown that this attitude will be rewarded with longer contracts and more money.

Suggests to me that all these wonderful youngsters that people seem to think the club has, either haven't got the ability or they have the wrong attitude for what PJ is trying to achieve.

It might just be the case that many of the youngsters already believe they should be playing in the PL without ever proving themselves, because that's what they are told by their greedy agents and unrealistic friends and family.

So PJ, get rid of the youngsters who feel they are already bigger than the club and reward those that have the desire and ability with longer contracts and game time like you have Cresswell. Also, find some good young talent that will help the team next season and beyond.

Ps Don't lose any more games because it is becoming rather annoying.

Jewell Delighted With Win
at 16:42:57

Watched the game on TV and was really pleased with the result and thought there were loads of positives to be taken.

However bad Coventry were I still got very concerned every time they got the ball into the box. This was made even worse when Sonko went off. A better team would have finished at least two of their chances so I think we were slightly fortunate.

Having said all that, there was much improvement and finally some decent football played.

Well done to all.

Sonko Deal Close
at 16:15:17

Could prove to be a good move. Wages will be pretty low and if it doesn't work out not a great deal has been lost. Sure PJ is hunting for long term solutions and Sonko may fill a gap in the short term and provide competition for places or injury cover later in the season.

Jewell Makes New Striker Bid
at 13:24:08

I don't get the obsession with signing another striker! Yes, the fans want to see goals, but as the team stands now, we will score 2 - 3 goals a game which is great. The only problem is, that we will be letting in 3 - 4 goals at the other end.

I think PJ is doing a great job and think the signings so far (in general) have been very shrewd. Would however feel much more confident if the defensive problems were being addressed. I am sure PJ has some ideas on who he wants or has something up his sleeve, but would be good to see something happen in the next week.

Ellington Confirms Town Move
at 13:57:33

29 isn't past it. Not many seasons left, but definitely not past it.

Just to prove a point, Jason Scotland was 29 when he was banging goals in for fun at Swansea. Given the opportunity I bet we would all have taken him at that age so lets give Ellington a chance and see what he can do under PJ.
