I sort of understand the argument regarding Williams' fitness but what I cant quite get my head around is why, with seven games left when we signed him, he was brought in with so little time left to get fit or have an impact. If he can't play until the last two or three games and we are then out of it then it will look like a strange signing I think |

What a great way to start the season. In my six years as a season ticket holder I have to say that was one of my favourite matches to date. I thought we showed real determination throughout and the players worked their arses of for each other. Some seem to think Tabb played poorly but I actually thought him, Hyam and Berra were the best on the pitch for sheer workfare and without Tabb I think Fulham would have actually been able to play the ball around much more effectively. Murphy was excellent and his goal was fantastic in both a skilful and resilient way fighting off what he made look a very poor defender. Great to have McGoldrick back and the atmosphere, especially when that final whistle went, made it a game unvrivalled by any last season (the closest being Derby) with the euphoria of victory being so much greater knowing we just held on. Very optimistic for the season and while I dont expect a top six finish if we can consistently play like this it will be a great year. COYB!!! |

Good post, definitely think Bothroyd and Edu are good shouts. Not sure if the money's there but I think we could be on for a strong mid-table finish and progress on last year. |

Town really did turn up today and some of the new signings really stood out especially Massimo Luongo who was excellent. He was always offering an option, looking for the ball. The defence looked very good with Smith and Chambers at the heart of it. Carson and JET were lively while Martin seemed like he had recovered from his injury. Thought Loach could have done better for their goal but good stop at the end from Vaz Te. First half was excellent, sat back further in the second half. Have to say well done to Jase, great goal. You put him in that area there are not many in the league more deadly than him. He scores goals for fun from those positions. The issue is his mobility and actually getting the ball to him. We need another striker to support them, I really think we should chip in with a bid for Baldock who is pacey, moves well and would compliment our others. Davies is also a good option if we can afford him. Possibly another left back because I don't know what we'd do without Cresswell.Where's Bullard by the way? |

Sounds good, happy with all the signings and should be a better season. Possibly top six, but the competition is so strong I don't think we will be quite good enough. There is West Ham, Birmingham, Leicester, Forest, Leeds, Cardiff, Hull, Reading, Blackpool and Burnley. Plus the newly promoted teams i.e Southampton, Brighton etc. who will also challenge. Hate to be negative but it will be so tough this year. |

Mick McCarthy is reported (by GreenUn) to only value Richard Stearman at 800,000 grand! That is a good deal for a quality RCB like stearman who will pair up well with our LCB whoever that is! Now Koumas or Treacy for the midfield and we're right up there! |

Yes, the 4-5-1 formation won't work in the championship this year. In my mind 4-4-2 (basic but effective) is the best way to go. Stockdale in goal, Edwards, Ingimarsson, Delaney and Cresswell in defence, Carson and Martin running down the lines, Bowyer and Leadbitter in the middle and Chops up front with JET just behind him. To me this is good. This is sort of what he played but once they have gelled together it will look better. |

Am I right in thinking alot of you don't have faith in Delaney. We just need one more centre back who is strong and pacy and can strike up a good relationship with Damo. We need a right-back and the call for a 'creative' midfielder is a good one. Have faith people! |

In my mind these will both be good signings. Now we need at least two new defenders, one centre back and one right-back, because Carlos Edwards in my mind should be a winger. We need one more striker in my opinion, someone good quality to go well with Chops who is unsuprisingly scoring well already. Maybe another central midfielder too with attacking and creative flair. They should also be able to score and supply the two strikers. I think the versatile Emmanuel Thomas could fill that role though. With all of that we should be ready for the season ahead |
