39 aplicants ( apparently ) and a bloke who wasn't interested enough , get's the job , once he realises he's going to be paid daft money . ( If the rumours are true )
But that doesn't matter , because he's honest , ' down to Earth,' and 'no-nonsense,' whatever that means .
He will sort out the 'bad-apple's' and bring discipline to our squad and once again Portman Road will become the 'Land of milk and honey.'
Carrot Road will fall into a medieval chalk pit and The Budgies will be demoted into the conferance and ground share with Dereham .
Yes this all b@llo#ks ,but thats what I've heard all day long .
I do like Mcarthy and his assistant and I hope they succeed as much as anyone and I also applaud everyones optimism , although I believe most of it wishfull thinking , but serious realism is required .
I just don't get Clegg and I don't get the appointment .
From Clegg's usual text book press release it seemed obvious that there was no imagination and no foresight intergrated into the interview process .
Football Managers are differant creatures from city slickers and therefore its not all about the CV , It's also about ambition , tradition ,foreward thinking , alternative ideas ,motivation and dangling carrots , not having them rammed down your throat .
To me it is a knee - jerk decision created from desperation .
I do not see how this can benefit ITFC in the long haul .
Bring on the negative hits .

Total respect to Matty if he left his safe punditry lifestyle ( as he is one of the best on the box ) to be thrown in at the deep end , in whatever capacity .
Just can't help but feel though ,because of the lack of passion e.t.c., that we are putting our longing for a legend ahead of rational thinking and the appointment of possibly more suited candidates .
Probably reflects of what a bad space we find ourselves in .
Just for the record , just don't get the M'carthy fuss at all .
All I ever read on here is that we long for entertainment to return .
Yes ,I know we are in a predicament ( to put it mildly ) but M'carthy and entertainment does not fit in the same sentance .
I think we do need to gamble .
A journeyman ( Megson , blah , blah ,plus all the others ) possibly may save us from the drop , possibly may not , but then what ?
Two more seasons of mediocrity and no progression .
No thanks , been there ( too often ) , done that .
Still would champion Ferguson ,among others ,and I just don't get why he is not favoured more .
Boyd went right off the boil when the transfer speculation surrounded him ,and now Fergy Jnr., has got him back playing at his best .
How many young Managers could handle that situation as well as that ?

Yes Terry Butcher was not too sharpe in England as a boss ,but wasn't he learning his trade ( similiar to Jim Magilton at Ipswich ) .
I fail to see that he has done too much wrong at Cally and in my experience in 'civvy street,' you have to make mistakes to learn from them .
Im sure on the Owners ticksheet , he will fill more boxes than most candidates , especially those with Gary Megson in their name . |

If Mr. Hutchings had installed some of these values in the last two years then we would not of been in this position , but if its a case of , as an Assistant Manager ,that he was not allowed to express himself so passionately ,then unfortunately it highlights again the weakness's of PJ and his managerial expertise .
Even if it is only for self preservation ,fair due's for giving it your all .
Let's hope his words transfers to the players on the pitch tomorrow . |

Hate to be negative at a time when we should be all very positive , but has Mr. Clegg already made the wrong decision by putting Hutchings at the realm ?
Surely , whoever gets the post will wave goodbye to Hutchings & Co., so would it not of made more sense to charge Klug an Osman with the responsibility , as hopefully ,they will be the ones who are staying around for the long haul and therefore , presumably ,the ones who give a damn .
Maybe I'm insulting Hutchings proffesionalism but seems a strange call to me . |

Two more words , 'Promotion,' and 'Wembley.'
For the record , I struggle to see why Ferguson isn't favoured more .
He alway's plays attractive football , which we all crave , does a sterling job on a shoestring , has great contacts and he'd probably bring George 'goal of the season' Boyd with him .
Also , if the mountain was to prove to big to climb this Season , Ferguson would be perfect to re-build and get us out of Div 1 .
Also Holloway , Hill and Smith are great shouts , but something tells me that Evans's magnificent panel of advisor's will be lining up the vacancy for another one of their mates .
Let's hope they have the 'Gonads' to give us all a lift and ignore the same old list of mediocrity that is always rolled out when there's a job going .
Cannot see them taking a chance on anyone young and refreshing , but it cannot get any worse can it ?

I don't think that the quality of player is at question with these signings , but the wisdom and the reasoning behind them is deffo baffling .
These lads are replacing Jewel's signing's , there is no Keane scenario to fall back on anymore .
Whichever side of the fence you sit on you cannot hide the fact that PJ seems to struggle on hiring the appropiate staff ,and employing personnel who wasn't interested a few months ago cannot be the way to fight you out of trouble . |

There is one good thing that is coming out of this darkest period ( I am beginning to have fond memories of John Duncan ?!?!? ) and that is , that the passion for our Club will never dwindle and for those of you who think that the supporter's who are not attending are not 'real' fan's .......... you are so wrong . |

Make's total sense to me .
Nigel Clough seems to have no problem obtaining his targets .
A Manager who has a long term plan and who is trusted and left to get on with it .
Mr. Evans , as you say , has probably his biggest decision to make , with regard to ITFC., in the very near future .
To me it's simple's .
Employ someone more equipped to run a Football Club , trust that Man to employ the appropiate Staff , and keep your finger's crossed whilst sipping a 'Jerry's' and Ginger in the Carribean . |

Its that bad .
We need a new director of football , and a long term plan .
The arrogance and naivety of the owner since the appointment of Voldemort has been staggering .
To presume that promotion was a given , was so ignorant and foolish and in the least gave our opponents greater incentive to turn us over .
Quick fix with Mr Keane didn't work .
Quick fix with Mr Jewell , his mates and Dad's army didn't work.
Extremely long term plan ( 20 years ? ) with Jeweller's babe's , so far going up the Mersey .
Never has there been so many change's of direction and contradictions been displayed by a Football Club in such a short time .
Manager's have a Directive and Paul Jewel's has seemingly changed more times than Tigers golf swing .
If his current Directive had been the one he was issued with when he took over from Keane , I'm sure we would of been looking reasonably healthy .
Don't blame PJ for everything , the owner is still a novice at this Footy Lark , and until he gets a grip everything beneath him will struggle also . |

Don't blame Jewel , all he did wrong was accept a bloody good job offer .
Couldn't see what he had to offer 20 months ago , and every game that passes us by he convinces me more that maybe I may have a point .
The player's are not that bad ,but the direction and management of them is so , so wrong .
It starts at the top with Mr Evans .
Apoint the right footballing man to run your club Mr.Evans , who in turn can appoint the suitable Staff to turn around the club to compete at the right end of the division .
We've had enough experience in getting people off the wages , so take one more on the chin , Mr. Evans ,and do it now. |

Why do we always have to advertise all our targets ?
In the recent window Blackpool and Forest did some fantastic business and nothing was released till they were finalised
Furthermore , Tommy Smith could be good asset .
Evidence for the Defence ,excuse the pun ,as follows .
Who was the best player ,in the back four ,for the only team in the last World cup ,not to lose a game in the Finals ?
Correct ,Mr. Smith .
This ,presumably is why he hasn't been replaced so far by numerous candidates from the lower leagues who would probably walk to Portman Road for 5k a week .
So how do you get the best out of a young man who clearly wants to do well at Ipswich ?
That's right , his Governor slags him off everytime we lose .
How would you perform when every week for 18 months you read that you are going to be replaced .
I would not be surprised that if and when Tommy moves on , to a club and Manager who knows how to bring the best out of his Staff ,that he will be a success .
