McCarthy Wants More Than Goals From Marriott

Hi, Woking fan here. Jack was excellent last season for us - apart from the goals he scored, he also created opportunities for others and worked hard, closing down defenders and tracking back. So in that sense, I'm not sure what your manager is on about. However, I would say that Jack punished the weaker teams in our league, when he was invariably given time and space. Against the stronger, full-time Conference clubs, he didn't show up at all and struggled to get into the game. And of course, he also didn't do enough to get even a place in the starting line-up when on a month's loan at Gillingham. It will be interesting to see how he gets on at Carlisle, but at the moment, I would say he's a long, long way from being a Championship level striker. League Two/Conference is probably the right level for him at present. Anyway, I hope he does well, he's a smashing lad, and he was a credit to his club and his parents when he was with us.
