I'm sure this has probably been mentioned before however I felt a new thread for discussion was needed.
I think it is obvious to anyone who has ever watched a live game that players thrive and ultimately perform better within a vibrant atmosphere. Of course, performance dictates the fans mood and therefore atmosphere. However despite dwindling crowd numbers (and this isn't a thread to moan about ticket prices etc!) the crowd noise is, for the most part, good.
What I feel we need to improve and expand upon, is songs for individual players. David McGoldrick is a perfect example of a player who is not only worthy of the crowds chants, but relishes it. However other than Didzy, we have regularly sung songs for only a minority of players. Skuse (there it is!), Hyam and Loach are the only others I remember hearing regularly over recent games/seasons. Why not Cresswell? Why not Chambo or Smith?
Footballers are ego driven, that is obvious. The more we as fans sing their names, the better they play. At least in my opinion.
