Thread | So almost certain we will face Norwich in the play offs now

Which is frustrating as we are so far ahead of them in terms of points
Can’t blame McKenna today starting 11 was as good as he could have gone with bar maybe Clarke for axel , he made all the right subs at the right times so no
Blame attached to him , the players tried second half but we offered nothing in an attacking sense and never looked likely to score despite seeing plenty of the ball
This is our best side and best manager in over 20 years and yet we still cannot beat them which is just incredible really ! Let’s hope we turn up in the play offs and steal the biggest derby win of all time ! |

As much as I hate these stupid varied kick off times and much prefer a 3pm Saturday my game we still have to turn up in them and if other sides can get results why can’t we ? I feel these three being 1230 kick offs are more of a coincidence than a trend of any sort |

As good as we have been all season you could also argue that the three most embarrassing results of the season for any championship sides have all been ours
Leeds 4-0 by context of how it was the two top sides competing and how vastly inferior we were
Maidstone no explanation needed
Yesterday (I haven’t seen any one else lose this season after winning at the 95 minute mark , happy to be corrected however as my memory isn’t the best )
We have to aim for the top 2 and just keep winning , if we end up in the play offs we are likely to be playing our opponents in the league before the end of the season and it’s crucial we show up for those games as psychology and mentality plays a huge part in big time sport ! |

Expectations shouldn’t change ? So if you were once poor and became rich beyond your wildest dreams should you then automatically expect to be poor again because you once were or should you strive to kick on ? everyone has different expectations some will be higher than others that’s life ! |

When you say we weren’t good enough on the day I would argue that Cardiff were as bad a side as we have played this season (Millwall aside) and were there to be beaten , any side in our position on the balance of play yesterday would have expected to have won that game ! In terms of expectations mine was to finish in the top 6 without question , however having had a 12 point lead whilst in second place those expectations have to change and automatic promotion then becomes the realistic expectation. |

No luck has nothing to do with it , we are where we are because we deserve to be there no doubt about that ! If we are able to defend better than we have done all season in the last 9- 12 games we will get promoted , if we don’t we will witness more repeats of yesterday |

The flaky comment is to some of these supporters who appear quite comfortable with debacles like yesterday simply because we have exceeded their own low expectations of us . |

I think it’s far beyond a “bad day at the office “ yes we have been exceptional but do we just now say we’ve done really well so far so if we win we win or if we lose we lose ?? The mentality needs to be solid and less flaky |

I fully expected a top 6 finish this season unfortunately so did the bookmakers as our promotion odds were very short for a newly promoted side . I went in to betfred in August to put £250 down on us to gain promotion by any means and it was literally only 7/2 which stopped me from doing it as I had seen it at 7/1 a few weeks earlier and the value wasn’t there . I didn’t expect us to be challenging for the top 2 however so we have definitely exceeded expectations for sure |

It’s the manor of the defeat which is unacceptable, no promotion chasing side should ever be lose a game after leading in the 95th minute , it’s almost impossible to fathom how this can happen ! Our defending unfortunately is our Achilles heel and is the only reason that we may not go up this season
If we lose the game 2-1 in the 70th minute and battle hard to come back but don’t there wouldn’t be anywhere near the amount of hysteria , we need to get rid of this imposter syndrome and forget all this league 1 side rubbish we are bang in the middle of a promotion race which we deserve to be in and the mentality from fans shouldn’t be that we’re just happy to be taking part we as supporters have EVERY right to expect our side to have won that game yesterday not bottling it the way we did.
Minimum 7 wins from last 9 is needed now to have any chance of top two, tall order but we have to go for it and worst ways we make the playoffs as the form side. [Post edited 10 Mar 6:53]

Cardiff were as bad second half as anyone I’ve seen , no threat , never looked capable of having a shot let anyone scoring , our game management was very poor after scoring , we lost control of the ball and appeared happy to just sit back rather than push to kill the game like we should have done . Although 9 games to go that’s a savage defeat to deal with emotionally and may be hard to come back from ! Very very poor [Post edited 9 Mar 14:46]

Comfortably Every season for the last 18 years at the same point of each season. Whilst I was a little disappointed that we surrendered a 10-12 point advantage for a few weeks I think we can now look at how immense Leeds have been to win so many games on the spin and with the respective squad values we should only be proud to the extreme of the lads whatever happens now. We are all but guaranteed a play off finish and who knows if we keep winning Leeds may drop a point or two here or there but if not then we head into the play offs with some momentum and form. It’s so easy to forget where we have come from and just automatically expect miracles every week I’m guilty of it myself but I think we need to take a pragmatic view and say that the top 2 sides this season along with saints are the strongest the league has seen maybe ever and we are well outperforming our budget . |

Absolute Melt ! Perhaps you feel Kayden Jackson would offer us more then ? lol I thought the whole team were mostly average today but Keiffer was probably one of the better ones against gigantic defenders ! He will be a huge asset for us in the playoffs |

Bournemouth reject ? lol his one of the best strikers in this league by a mile , doesn’t matter if he arrived a minute before kick off drunk , on drugs and with crutches he would still offer us more than Jackson simply because he is two divisions above him , nothing against Jackson but their are levels to everything in life and KM Is levels above him |

I don’t think we would have lost the game had Moore started , Jackson is a league 1/2 player Keiffer is a low level PL / high end championship player their leagues apart and having Moore gives us a different option and another way to play the game , we have been truly sussed out by opposition these last 6-8 weeks so we badly need a plan B and having Moore start gives us that option , we have a focal point and he will win everything in the air like he did today, he will hold the ball up and help us relieve pressure all things Jackson can’t do ! If it’s to be the play offs for us at least we should enter them with a chance of winning them which we wouldn’t if Jackson was our striker moving forward |

My season ticket goes in the bin ! Why he didn’t start today I have no clue , he did More in one half than Jackson has done in 5 years at the club ! Great second half and although the defending was very poor two of their goals should have been disallowed , Al Hamadi looks promising as well [Post edited 3 Feb 17:10]

Irrelevant my point stands , one chance and an incredible finish , every game we watch our strikers have much easier chances and blow them week in week out ! I would hope we can get our main targets next week but if we won’t pay the money clubs want and it’s a choice of signing nobody or that striker I would take him as a step up on what we have ! Well done Maidstone two chances two quality goals !
Our side were simply clueless in attack and the usual in defence , never has it been more obvious that we need strikers whatever the cost we need them , broadhead is not a goal scorer and can’t finish ! We will rightly receive more stick from the footballing world than you could imagine and I think this will now finish off our top two chances there’s no coming back from this , play offs it is ! |
