West Brom are a decent side & deserved the win, but they should be really embarrassed about their time-wasting

In 40+ years at Portman Rd, that was comfortably one of the most poorest Town performances I have seen. No fight, no confidence, and a starting XI set up with the sole ambition to get a point - we made Fulham look like Barca! If I ever see another home teamsheet with Skuse and Douglas both starting, I'll forgo my season ticket and stay in the pub (and I like Skuse, he does a job for the team, but needs to be paired with a creative player). I've supported Mick until now, and I do worry whether there is anyone better available, but enough is enough & it's time for a change.

This was 1 of our best footballing performances of the season (albeit a disappointing season) so really didn't understand the venom against Mick today. We dominated possession & If we could shoot straight, it would have been a comfortable 3 points.

(I'm a season ticket holder in SBR Lower, and most around me had the same view).

In my 40-odd years at PR, that was 1 of the more frustrating matches I've seen. Not quite Rotherham last season (or Tranmere in the early 90s, or an end of season MK match a few years back), but getting close. A few thoughts:

1. Why are we playing 2 holding midfielders at home?
2. When we are chasing the game, why do we keep both holding midfielders on?
3. Lawrence was our best player, Ward our leading goal scorer, yet we took them both off & kept on an ineffective Douglas & a subdued Scuse (who would be in my starting XI but as a sole defensive midfielder at home).

Ok, so it's only 1 thought really, but why? I've been a Mick fan until now, but really don't understand the negative approach to today's match.

Didn't see the tackle for Hyam's booking, but those around me in Sir Bobby Lower said he was lucky it wasn't a straight red. So why the xxxx does he then square up to, & push, an opponent. I know Brentford were intentionally trying to wind him up, but his response was unprofessional & idiotic; he let his team mates & the fans down, & cost us the match.

One of the most enjoyable matches of the season - Skuse, Berra & Freddie all outstanding, though everyone played a part, best atmosphere for a while, and what a goal from Skuse!!! And to cap it all, a comedy ref. Outstanding evening's entertainment!

A fair result. Bournemouth are clearly a good footballing side, but we matched them with our usual endeavour & no little skill. Bart's shot-stopping was outstanding, Berra his usual rock-like self (reminds me of Butch, though clearly not of the same calibre as Sir Terry), Scuse impressive again, Reg won lots in the air, and Freddie was a live-wire (never been less than impressed with Mr Sears!!). Murph looked knackered after 70 mins, and Wood disappointed from the bench again.

Bournemouth may wish to get a new stud sponsor, as they struggled to stay on their feet whenever near a blue shirt, and if not careful could end up with an unwanted reputation!

Particularly enjoyed the home crowd's response to every "hoof" ball from the away team, given their over-the-top criticism of the ITFC style of football earlier in the season.

Consistently poor distribution from the back, no spark in midfield, and even Murph was out-muscled up front - a very disappointing & frustrating display all round. Skuse probably the pick of the Town players; Mings has gone off the boil, though as Mick says it's his 1st full season at this level.

Goal was a poor one to concede - I felt that the the defender (Mings or Berra?) shouldn't have let Mackie get the shot away in the 1st place, and then that Bart should have got a glove to it. Reading then spent the next 76 minutes time wasting (which the Ref seemed OK with).

We need to step up a gear (or 3) for next Sunday!

One of the dullest matches I have seen in 40+ years following the Town. Wigan clearly came for a point, and wasted time whenever given the opportunity throughout the match. Ref was poor (when did we last get a decent Ref at FPR?), but the most disappointing factor was that we failed to break down a poor, albeit hard-working, Wigan side. We by-passed the midfield all too frequently, a tactic that may work with the power of Murphy up front, but not suited to Noel & Didz, or to Freddie.

Don't want to end on a downer, so let me add that Mick has worked wonders with limited resources, and that I'm delighted with the season so far. COYB.
