Well done to the brave supporters who kept up the pressure via Tw@tter to get this deal over the line. We couldn't have done it without you. |
| News Comment | McCarthy Wouldn't Stand in Cresswell's Way at 13:07:35
There are a lot of quality left backs around atm, so really don't see where cresswell would fit in at one of the pl teams now. He's a great player for us but I think were he to leave he'd end up being a benchwarmer at the britannia. We need to keep him and show our intent through quality. As people have said, we'd maybe only have £1m to put back into the squad, which to my mind would leave us with a really uninspiring group. Quality playmakers/attacking midfielders are as we all know seriously expensive. Tabb is the best example of MM's idea- how can we call ourselves playoff candidates for next year when we have a team of tabbs who have no attacking intent or glimmers of quality? Keep Cresswell. Don't 'strictly' adhere to FFP- we've already seen the 'punishments' dished out to bigger clubs, and ME could get away with spending a few million now to push us further next season. I'm in favour of stability and generally abiding by the FFP principles (which the club could do a lot more if they were to market games/events better), But it's no wonder we have this 'nice club' reputation - why are we trying to flog players rather than buying potential pl talent? Other teams look like they have nous in the markets and that's, for me, a part of a pl mindset. We've been far too nice, honest- giving journeymen huge salaries for a sleepy suffolk retirement. We need to be far more aggressive on the field and off it , too. |

Seeing the positives in a loss to Preston only goes to show how badly this club has been managed in years gone by. Now we have a terribly weak, tiny squad coupled with a good manager, who's making do, and we're so grateful for such small (or non-existent in this case) rewards. Wow. |

'Divine right' = 4-1 half-time score. It's quite realistic to think we could win... So yes, we could be doing better, especially with a team that were difficult to beat last year. Go on accepting defeat. |

I agree, Walk. He plays a style that most laugh at now but ironically Ipswich were known for playing 'sexy football' well before our rivals. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a decent manager but if we were to get a play-off place, like a lot of Town fans dream of, then what would happen? Promotion and 4-4-2 in the PL! Hahahahhaha. We'd be laughed off the park. If we can't defend a three goal advantage for half a game then that looks unlikely anyway. .. Can't believe I was happy for half an hour earlier... Still always had the thought in the back of my mind that we'd give it away though- and look what happens! Same old Town. And to the down-voters, tell me why I'm wrong. I bet you were the ones who wanted to give Jewell a few more games...Urgh. |

Haha, love the down votes. Typical. We're so used to being losers that we'll accept a drubbing when we were 4-1 up... Top lol- a point's a point. Hahaha. I didn't realise we were so scared of winning. |

I like Mick. I don't love him unconditionally though. And this 'oh well, it happens' attitude is part of the reason why. If we'd been 3-0 down at half time, he would've let rip but because we've scored 4 in the first, it makes it OK to concede 3 in the second... What? Pathetic. Another reason I don't rate him is his tactical ineptitude. 4-4-2 is OK for most of the time in this league but where are our options? They changed their style and slaughtered us, where's our change in shape? |

Harry, would be interesting to know whether you've found any other fans from clubs in the championship doing what you're doing? Imagine what they would have found here under Jewell or Keane.... Always a good read and you know you can rely on the fans to give a proper assessment of their club. Keep up the good work (there must be a lot!)! |

Top six finish. Beat the Budgies in the cup. Play-offs but not quite promotion. COYB! |
