Lambert: Right-Back is an Area Which Needs Strengthening
at 17:52:43

You don't say! We all keep forgetting about Barry Cotter who looked really good last season against Barnsley. I know he's been injured, but seems to have become a forgotten man. I haven't seen him play for the U-23's, but he can't do much worse than Spence can he?

Gcon - I agree, the away fans were excellent today. However whilst there were no boos, we still lost and didn't really offer anything.

Veteran Blackburn Defender Linked
at 18:32:28

Another has been and well past his sell by date. It would be a serious indictment if the club are genuinely considering him.
In other news, Watkins has signed for the canaries apparently. We could be in for a long season again....!

Pitman and Bru Can Leave Town
at 19:36:16

And me. Arguably our best finisher, but like so many players, he has been ruined by Mick's tactics. He's not a target man, he is very good in a team that plays on the floor, but not when our defenders punt the ball to the opposition defenders. Its very confusing why he's being let go on a free as well. Surely he and Bru would go for a couple of 100k each thus boosting our little transfer kitty.

As for Bru, I think he's a really great player. I liked the post on twtd about him as well. He does things that people daren't try. Yes he's lightweight, yes he's inconsistent, but I'd much rather him playing in the team than Skuglas.

I can see both going to championship clubs next season, and both scoring against us showing what we have missed, or what they can do if properly man managed.

There's also rumours of Bart leaving. I worry that our fickle management (not just directed at Marcus, whom I am largely supportive of), will accept a 7 figure bid and continue to treat us fans like dirt. League 1 beckons if this happens, as I can't see us signing anyone for money, just more has beens and rejects.

Step Back, Deep Breath and Honesty - Won't Happen!
at 16:28:08

Very good blog indeed. The only thing that I would disagree with you would be on the players who should/not go. I personally would not like to see Sears, Pitman or Chambers leave.
Chambers has been a great servant to the club who has been played out of position for the past few years and the only person who failed to see that he was not cut out to play at RB was Mick himself.
Same could be said for Sears, somebody who works tirelessly and selflessly for the club and is a real fan favourite. We know he can score, take his first half season when he signed and in the past few games as well. The only reason why he has not scored more is because he has predominantly spent the best part of this and last season out on the wing . Once again, if played in the correct position, he will score.
As for Pitman, you are correct in saying that his goalscoring record is not good enough, however we must take into account that he has barely started any games this season. At one stage he was (wrongly) lower than Moore in the pecking order. Most of his appearances this season have come from the bench and he has not had enough time to influence games.
I personally believe that we have the right players and with a few additions, we could do quite well, but ultimately, we do not have the manager to play the way that we crave. Launching balls up to Pitman, Sears and DM will not work, neither will playing Chambers at RB.

McCarthy to Make Changes at Rotherham
at 13:13:18

Would definately like to see Rowe, Dozzell, Teddy, Morris feature over the next couple of games. Maybe Nydam and Blanchfield as well.
Kiefer Moore has had enough chances already and doesn't look anything special in the slightest.
So if Mick is going to make changes to his team, is there any chance of a change of manager at the end of the season? Unlikely, but we can all dream.

McCarthy: Varney Was Terrific
at 19:25:43

He wasn't the most gifted of players, but he always gave his all and looked like he genuinely cared about the club as per his celebrations when he scored. I hate to coin this phrase, but he was a genuine "proper bloke", and I really hope he does well at Burton.

McCarthy Has No Intention of Walking Away and Plans to Build Again at Town
at 17:50:17

Well I am very disappointed in this announcement, and it seems the majority of us on here are as well. It appears he has already made his mind up about staying, and therefore so I have with regards to my season ticket.

From what I understand, in Mick's world it is OK for him to claim the supporters know nothing about football, refer to them as punters and feel they should be grateful to have him there every week boring the pants of us. However it is not fair for anyone to criticise him!! Well I am cool about that and accept he has the right to do what he wants. I also have the right to do what I want and that is to spend my leisure time in more worthwhile and pleasant places (cricket season has started!) than Portman Road not listening to a foul mouthed moron taking his paying customers completely for granted.

So draw your own conclusions, but the article says it all, none of this is of my making and I will only leave on the P45 gravy train. If Marcus Evans wants success for ITFC, which is debatable, he must recognise what is going on and take swift and decisive action. Dithering at this stage will mean yet another miserable season in the also rans and possible more to follow. We all know what is required and it will be a massive rebuild from bottom to top. The stage is yours Mr Evans.

Town Out to Ease Relegation Concerns and End Run of Draws With Win at Cardiff
at 15:57:02

Forgive me here, Mick, but didn't you say this before we were due to play Wolves and Brentford?

Whilst you have had all of the(paraphrased) "you said you wanted 7 players but have only signed 5", we have had enough of all of the "we're looking to win in order to stop rot". Please put out an attacking team and look and act like you care about our dear football club.

McCarthy Hopes Derby Performance and Result Will Help Mend Relationship With Fans
at 13:27:20

Yesterday's result will not mend your relationship with me personally, Mick. I understand that the budget has frankly, been woeful and that to some extent the style of football that we have had to endure over the past couple years has been necessary because we have not had the players to play the Ipswich Town way.
For me, my main problems with yourself are that you have consistently played players out of position a la Freddie and Chambers which has completely drained the confidence out of them (it must be said that they are looking much better since being played in their proper positions, coincidence, no!), the inability to apologize for some of the sh1te that has been served out this season especially. We have not had an apology from our performances against Lincoln, Derby, Forest to name but a few. Finally, the constant retorts that you make about the fans in press match conferences. That is totally unacceptable! That is why fans in their thousands have left since you joined.

The performances and results this month have been better, without a doubt, but yesterday especially, we played woefully and if it was not for Bart (AGAIN!) and Jerome missing several chances, we would have lost.

Thank you for your time, but I'm afraid your time is up. The sooner this season ends, the better.

Ipswich Are There For The Taking On Saturday — Notes for Reading
at 19:51:12

Sadly, I can't see anything other than a Reading win. If we play 4 at the back, Chambers will have to go to RB, in order to fit Taylor in to the line up - which is fine - but sadly, I reckon he'll be slaughtered by the likes of McLeary, Popa and Meite.

On a seperate note, I can't help but notice about Samuel "His game is ball to feet so he can use a bit of pace", that won't be happening here.

Beer: Potential Recommend To Be Forwarded To The Club
at 14:30:23

I don't personally drink but I do believe that it could be a really really good effective way to do our business.

However, I don't believe that we should make Beer tokens a top priority. Why would the club really bother changing it for those that come now. Perhaps we can try to put some pressure on the club on the way it prices the tickets. I'm a season ticket holder so I don't really need to worry as our season tickets are good value in my eyes, but for those who don't live in Ipswich or surrounding areas but like to watch the team a few times a year,30 quid a time isnt cheap, especially if they bring the whole family putting it well in to 3 figures for a day trip. Let's try to get support for this and put it to the club. There could be chance for greater revenue, 16k paying 30 quid, or 19/20k paying 25 quid. Imagine the boost for the boys, especially as we are sat 2nd (SECOND!) in the league in December.
Then perhaps we could put this idea to the club, where there could be more fans available to watch the game, and to make some money duribg their half time pint???

Patience, Sweet Patience
at 17:17:02

I fully agree with what you say here. MM & TC have been remarkable these past 2 years. I don't think we should get too giddy just yet, despite our start to the season being fantastic and I thinl we have only lost one game since the Norwich game at the end of the August. Not bad as we are now into November. However, remember last season when we were 6th with a handful of games to go and a large portion of fans were saying "We're going up". Obviously, we know what happened, but I'm glad we didn't as I think we would have been slaughtered in the PL this season (probably reminiscent of Derby in 2004 was it?).

This season we have seen some good performances, a few laclusture ones too, but nevertheless, are strikers are on fire, especially Murph, our defence is clearing up, and we have discovered a real gem in Teddy Bishop. Perhaps if we are still in the PO's at Christmas time we can start to be confident.

Where Has It Gone Wrong This Past Week? — Notes for Doncaster
at 18:44:07

I like Doncaster, a lot to be honest. Sadly they are one of those teams who are too good for league 1 and struggle to fulfil their clear potential in theChampionship. I see us winning this comfortably, provided we plah kn the same positive way we did against Huddersfield, we are so unpredictable at times. I don't care if I receive a bit of stick here, but I hope Billy Sharp scores, myself like many have always liked him and he always causes problems. Remember the ovation we gave him a few years ago after his 2 day old daughter died and he scored against us? Brings a tear to my eye!

Keane Set to Be O'Neill's Assistant
at 13:37:43

I know that people will not agree with me on this post, but some (some being the pivotal word) but not all of our football under Keane was good. We started well under him before if anything little motivation from our manager caused us to fall down to table. With Mick, we have stability and our football has never been so good (since Joe Royle anyways). I appreciate our form has dropped and we cannot keep a lead because we choose to almost sit back but lets get behind the manager and hopefully, with our support, we can be rewarded and enjoy a push for play-offs at last!

Edwards in Quarter-Final Action

Carlos has always been a player that I have admired at Town, he always gives 100% in every single game he plays in. So what if he doesn't make the team every game - he is a worthy captain and will always have the fans hearts. Good luck Carlos and hopefully we will see you on the pitch on 3 August.
