Sadly both Town & Newcastle missed the point, along with Clegg at the time of Sir Bobby's Death... Portman Road (or even St. James Park) should be have been renamed the Sir Bobby Robson Stadium or Arena - Portman Road (if the pruists still want PR in the name), rather than just one of the stands. Especially if we can get the leasehold off IBC, it would give the place a more modern feel. Any cost involved in the naming rights could be donated to Sir Bobby's Charity the name of which escape's me at this time. Otherwise I think the so called path of naming rights will lead to the complete franchise of British football, with the stadium & team name even changing every so few years and possibly relocation elsewhere. There will be those of you out there that don't want change. The truth is football has moved on from those times of the 70's & 80's, I'll continue to support them come what may whether that is in D3 (i refuse to call it L1) or the Premiership (which I can't see happening for awhile).

Being no longer resident in the UK, I did actually write into the club and suggest that maybe the Club could support the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation in such a way and for the Sir Bobby Robson Shield/Cup to be played for everytime ITFC & NUFC (or any or the other clubs WBA, Fulham, Barcelona, Sporting, PSV) met up (with profits going to the Foundation). With the Town playing in the old 1970's 2nd colours of Yellow (not the mutard colour up the road) shirts, blue shorts, yella socks & with the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation as sponsors on the shirt (the shirts being auctioned off after the 2 matches this season)?

But a tournement sounds like a good idea.

By the way it is great that the Club is going to rename the North Stand, however has anyone considered renaming the actual Stadium?

In that way Sir Bobby's name would be more pronounced and remembered around the country/world?

Food for thought..By the way just get behind the Boys, at times I get fed up reading some of the posts on here, have been cheering the Lads on through thick & thin since 75.
