What can I say? That was excellent a complete but pleasant surprise at how well our youth team played against a premier league side that had 6 players from the first team!! Especially when one of my group was predicting a 6-1 hammering to Crystal Palace. All of them should be very proud of themselves as you did the fans proud something we didn't see a lot of last season!! Flynn Downes, Nydam, the other CM and the CB's were particular stand outs it's a shame I can't remember all of their names 😂
Crystal Palace on the other hand where awful and fans should be really concerned about how their team will fare in the Premier League season if they continue to play like that!!! |

Comment | Garner Move Set to Be Completed This Week

Personally for a couple of reasons I believe this is an awful signing.
Firstly he is 29 years old so past the prime age for playing at his best for an outfield player ( for goalkeepers 29-32 is a approximate prime age for them). Yes I know some players do improve later on Jaime Vardy is the prime example but his is the general exception to the rule, and to those fans that will look to Jaime to back up your arguments as to why he COULD be a good player: don't be so deluded, at least Vardy had a capable manager and incredible creative players such as mahrez to bring the best out of him. We unfortunateley have neither.
Secondly his record in the championship is poor 6 goals in 41 games in the 2015-16 season or 0.14 goal to game ratio. His overall record is 22 goals in 133 championship games or a 0.16 goal to game ratio. Since the fact we need a striker that's got to score 15+ a season it can clearly see he doesn't fit the bill. However his ratio in league 1 is very good with 43 goals in 72 games for Preston in league one alone and this brings me to one of my biggest issues with this signing. Tall at 6ft 1, successful in league one but not anywhere else, bit of a journey man finding success at only one club is a very similar resume to David McGoldrick a fan favourite and a one of the only successful strikers under MM. I get the feeling that Mick thinks he can be the manager to make him successful in the championship like he did with McGoldrick, which (if true) is a prime example to MM's arrogance and delusion. If he couldn't make Sears or Nouble or Moore or Larson or Taylor our 15+ striker then how on earth will he succeed with Garner, it's just madness and stupidity! Plus I fear that MM will see this as the Murphy hole filled in which case we are in serious trouble next season if we are relying on a striker that can't hit double scoring figures in his entire career at this level to be our main 15 goal striker.
Thirdly and most importantly I believe the ramifications of this signing will badly effect us in the long run. He is ,unless by some miracle in which I'm proved wrong, going to most likely be a flop, another MM misjudgement. This time though ME has spent £1 million pounds on this player which would make understandably give him flashbacks to JET and Chopra and stop investing his money in players again taking the club back to step 1. And who can blame him if MM is making daft signings like this??? But it will mean we will fall further and further behind the rest of the league leading to the inevitable: a free fall down the footballing pyramid.
Fourthly, let's not kid ourselves here the Scottish league is completely different compared to the championship (and by that I mean worse). The championship is volatile unpredictable tough and competitive whilst the Scottish premier league is neither of those things hence look at Celtic going unbeaten all season to win their 6th title on the bounce. With Garner barley getting into a Rangers side that posed no real threat to the title or second place. So if he can't into that team or preform in that league (7 goals in 31 appearances) how on earth will he be able to perform in the championship a much harder and more competitive league?
On a side note this is nothing personal against Garner at all it just seems a reckless, uninspiring signing that does not fit the teams needs and it just seems that we are scraping the bottom of the barrel to what's available for us when we could and should be aiming for so much more. I wish you all the best Garner at our club and I hope you prove me wrong however I doubt it. I would also like to point out this isn't an attack on Garner as my frustration comes mainly from the principle of this transfer and the decision making process gone into this transfer rather than Garner himself.

I'm sorry I have read this article and it's beggars belief at how deluded one of our own players can be, least of all our captain. How can any man, other than the tactical genius that is MM, justify Douglas's performances and sit back and wonder after "dougie's" continued mistakes and continued lack of basic footballing skill for this level of football, why we are showing our displeasure as fans, is he forgetting that we pay an insane amount of money to go and watch a team we love just to see such inept performances such as the ones "dougie" has been producing. To try an justify such performances is a joke. I fully get loyalty but there is a time where someone in that team or our club needs to step up, grow a pair and point out that his performances are way under par and challenge him on it. You do not need to be a pep, a Jose, a sir Alex or a Sir Bobby to see that dougie is not fit for this division of football nor is he good enough for this club. some wake up calls need to happen, hard truths need to be said and then acted upon and some tough pills need to be swallowed if our club is going to survive and with deluded leaders that think they can out-smart or play fans for fools need to re evaluate themselves and question whether they should be apart of this club. |

Happy with the majority of the additions we have made but disappointed that we didn't sign a first team striker with mcgoldrick crocked, Sears out of form and unconfident, Varner and best are getting along with a poor goals to games ratio across their careers, we are relying on a Leicester loanee. There have been rumours of a Murphy leave at different points across the summer MM and ME should have looked at those and at him and gone "let's be realistic team will want him" and have started enquires well in advance to ensure that we are in for a replacement in case of a situation similar to what has happened over the past week. A championship club shouldn't be caught out with a bigger team suddenly interested in their best players and then buying quickly we needed a backup plan. poor management from both MM and ME. However some good business has been made and I'm thrilled to see that joniesta is back! |

look Murphy no doubt was an amazing striker last season but he is 32 and started to trail off a bit at the end of last season. Don't get me wrong i would be sad to see him go but 4.5 million is a lot of money we should take it and re-invest in the squad. |

it seems that half the people here are moaning about not having players right here right now!! what is the matter there is a prospect of getting some amazing young talent from some of the top clubs in the premier league and people are moaning just because they want them now!! have you learnt nothing from last season and arsenals situation? got nobody during the window all up until the final day and got one of the most creative European midfielders at this moment in time in the shape of mesut ozil. all we need to have is patience and MM will do his magic as he did last year, just because we are not getting players right now does not mean we will have another medicore season ( i'm talking to you Karls_dad!!!!)> if we get a winger and a midfielder as good as Joniesta then we are in for an amazing season this year!! Personally I quite like this kit! It is certainly more interesting to look at than a white and black kit, cmon guys a white and black kit is so boring and unimagnitive in terms of colour! I like it how it is but yes i can see the kit looking better with a black logo however this is the first away kit i am seriously thinking buying it would certainly stick put in a crowd!! ....follow woody's example??....get back in team play really well and then get dropped!!.....football is no ordinary job but this hardly motivates people to do well. This, as with any player situation , would be better understood if the manager came out and explained his reasons.....but he cant and would be unprofessional so we have to suck it up....doesn,t make supporters any less restless though....and agree with Pavlovscat....another potential decision that cold bite us in the furture |
